“Stayed for 2 weeks with my friends and boyfriend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2014

Me and my friends stayed at Hanay for 2 weeks, and we loved the place and location. We are a group with 6 people, and had a great time in Side. Our favorite restaurante was Beckhams about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Watch out for the Taxi-drivers, ask always for the price first. We got 3 rooms in the new hotel area away from the main road, and are very satisfied with the rooms. The cleaning ladies are nice, and it was always nice when they decorated the bed. There is a market every saturday about 7 minutes away from the hotel. The beach is also only 8-10 minutes walk from the hotel, and if you walk a little further, the beach has free sunbeds.
We ate Doner Kebab at the hotel, and it was delicious! Great entertainment with magic show and competitions.

If i had to say something negative about the hotel it must be the showers, it is either very cold, or very hot, not possible to get it in the middle. But it was okay, great value for what we paid.

If you travel as a friend group/couple this place is great!

Room Tip: Ask for hotel room in the new block away from the main road, these rooms are very nice looking.

My friend and I both middle aged females booked a two bedroom apartment at the Hanay. Maybe we were just unlucky but the position of the apartment we were given was above the hotels restaurant at the end of A block. The big screen was also below us with the football showing most nights! The restaurant staff gathered below at the back of the restaurant and deliveries where made there too!! The next block to us was the butcher's shop where the lorry often made noise when putting on the freezer! The front of the apartment was on the main road which was very busy and again noisy!

I have no idea why when they hold Turkish Night why the music has to be at top volume which it is!!

I have no complaints regarding the cleaning and content of the apartment only the constant noise we had to endure!

Room Tip: Maybe other blocks are less noisy but don't go to block A...

We have recently returned from an eleven night stay at the Hanay Suit. We paid £406.00 for 2 one bedroomed apartments on a self catering basis. For this price the Hanay Suit is nothing short of superb.

I sent an email to the hotel prior to arrival to ask for rooms close to each other in Block C or D as previous reviews indicated that these were the quieter blocks and with having two young girls we wanted to ensure they got a good nights sleep. I was pleased to see on arrival we had been allocated adjoining rooms in Block C. The rooms were modern and nicely decorated with the usual facilities that you would expect to find in this type of accommodation – fridge, 2 cooking hobs, kettle etc. We had requested cots for our two year old girls and these had not been provided although this was rectified the following day. The rooms were cleaned daily to a good standard and the maids were particularly friendly especially with our young girls.

Location - The Hanay Suit is located in the Kumkoy district of Side well away from the centre of the resort. There are a number of shops and restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel and many more within a short walking distance. We found these to be very good value and much cheaper than those in the centre (although it has to be said that those in the centre were still reasonably priced). There is a supermarket directly opposite the hotel and a fruit and veg shop just a 2 minute walk away. Again prices were very good. Side holds a market on a Saturday and this is a ten minute walk away from the Hanay.

Hotel – there are about 70 rooms in total so whilst this is not a small complex it’s not too big either. The hotel offers onsite spa treatments, Turkish bath etc however we didn’t use this facility so can’t comment on the quality/value of it. There is a good children’s play area located on a grassy area of the complex outside Block C, and our girls particularly liked this. There is also a small games area with table football, pool table, table tennis and a small gym. This area could do with some attention as it looks tired and a number of items were broken. The hotel has a restaurant and bar area next to the pool and whilst this was adequate for food during the day, we didn’t use this at night as we found it to be lacking in atmosphere.

Pool area - The pool area is well maintained and there is a small baby pool alongside the standard pool. The layout of the pool and waterslide limits the amount of sunbeds that can be placed round the pool and unless you are up early you’ll struggle to get one of these although there were always many more available slightly away from the pool on a nice grassed area. The pool gets the sun for most of the day but started to become shaded from 4pm onwards. The waterslide operated twice a day for an hour a time at 11am and 2 pm.

Beach – There are two beaches in the resort, one to the East of the centre/harbour area and one to the West of the centre/harbour area. We visited both during our stay. West beach is the one closest to the Hanay and is a ten minute walk away. This beach runs the length of the resort and as such depending upon which area of this beach you wish to go can it can be accessed a number of different ways. Basically when you leave the Hanay, you walk to the main road heading into Side and there are a number of roads/tracks/steps along this road that lead down to the beach. Please note that whichever route you take there is a big hill to climb on the way back up (unless you take up the offer of many of the beachfront bars and get a lift back to your accommodation).

The hotel runs a free bus service to the SeaSide Beach Club on East Beach. This journey takes about ten minutes and is available every half hour from 9am to 10:30am with return journeys from 3:30pm onwards. This beach is more shingly than the sandy West Beach but we found the sea to be much clearer. Of the two, we preferred West Beach as felt this was better for kids being sandy and with the beach shelving more gently into the sea. The beachfront bars on West Beach offer free sunbeds and parasols providing that you purchase food and drink from their premises. As you walk along the promenade many will try to entice you in but beware that a number of places really cram in the beds to maximise the space available so find the ones that are best for you! We particularly liked Garden Beach Bar and Linda Beach Bar. Both were very helpful even providing additional parasols for our children to play under.

Resort centre / antique Side – it’s possible to walk to the centre from the Hanay but it is quite a long walk. We did it on a couple of occasions and it took about 50-60 mins but that was with two pushchairs and done at a leisurely pace. It’s a really nice walk along the lovely promenade with great views out to sea and various bars and restaurants along the route, however we didn’t eat in any of these places as to be honest they simply didn’t look that good!

On other occasions we got a taxi from the Hanay and this cost 20 lira for 6 people. I’d definitely recommend at least a couple of visits to this area as there is a really good bustling holiday feel to it. Yes you’ll get mithered to go into every bar/shop/restaurant but we found it all good natured. With the ruins and amphitheatre leading into busy streets, bazaars and restaurants its like nowhere else we’ve been. It really is a mix of the old and the new. The small harbour area is lovely too.

All in all we had a great stay at the Hanay and I'm sure you'd struggle to find a better place in the same price bracket. The only real negative was the lack of a decent hotel bar. The bar area is basically a restaurant for those on half board/full board and it attempts to double up as a bar but fails in this respect.

Room Tip: Block A is closest to the main road, Block B runs the length of the pool, Block C is set back from t...

My wife and I have just returned from our second visit in 18 months to The Hanay Suit Hotel. It was like returning home and we were welcomed like firm friends. Nothing has changed since our last stay and our request to have our previous room was not possible, but a similar room was allocated to us making everthing just perfect.
On our previous visit, we had b&b and thought that we might give half board a try. This was not the best idea for us as I am not easy with food and there really was only one choice each evening.
Unfortunately, the food was not very hot and there was no inducation of what was being served.
There was always plenty of salad and usually fresh fruit for desert.
If the numbers for evening meal were low, the meal was plated and delivered to you without reference to what was on offer.
This would not deter us from going back

Stayed at Hanay Suite for 12 nights in June,it was one of the best apartments we have stayed in .We were in block B and the furnishings ,beds and kitchen utensils were very good, large fridge, kettle, hot plate ,not the usual mismatch of leftover items we have encountered in the past.Beds were comfortable with lots of wardrobe space, nice balcony overlooking pool area, very quiet, lots of sun beds ,the staff were very good ,helpful but not pushy and certainly respectful unlike lots of places were the waiters pester you to eat there and mess around with the young girls.
The bar area is uninspiring and bland and the breakfast is the same every morning.
Now the reason I have given this rating as very good rather than excellent is because of one or two things which I cannot understand being allowed to happen taking into account the way the hotel is generally run.
The bathroom had a nice modern sink and toilet but the shower head I had to tie up to keep in position, toilet role holder which came of he wall till I fastened it myself ,and some tiles had mould in between them all of which could have Been rectified for less than £5 and two hours work.
Having said this I would go back again and recommend it to anyone.
The area is very handy to get anywhere ,near main road and very quiet, lots of restaurants but no bars and no nightlife ,if you are looking for music bars there are none near by (if there were I couldn't find them) Kayis restruant off the dual carrigway is very good.

I have just returned from a very relaxing 5 night break at the Hanay Suit. I was nervous about booking due to the cheap price paid but the worrying was for nothing. We had a lovely break and will definitley go again.
Room-clean, tidy and comfortable. My boyfriend did not like the wet room but that is a preference rather than a criticism, and I actually quite liked it. Maids made nice flower arrangements with fresh flowers and the towels/bed sheets.
Sleep-I am a very light sleeper and had a ground floor, pool view room in block B and I had no triuble sleeping. Beds are comfirtable and air conditioning keeps the bedroom nice and cool.
Service-amazing. Cannot fault the staff at all. They were all very friendly and helpful and not at all pushy, even when chatting to the man working in the spa he did not try to sell us anything. All items bought in the pool bar/restaurant area are charged to your room so no need to constantly carry/worry about carrying enough cash. We paid our bill each morning to keep an eye on our budget and had no bill discrepancies. Very cheap prices and very good food.
Pool-beautiful surroundings, well maintained. No problem getting a sunbed.
Location-quiet area with nice restaurants around - Cihan oposite is lovely. Short 10-15 minute walk to the beach but there us a very steep hill which could be a problem for some. The prices down by this area are higher but still reasonable. We ate in the Tropic Steak House which was really good with a lovely view. The hotel also offers a free bus to a quieter area of the beach which is very nice, offers watersports and a bar/restaurant where they will bring drinks to your lounger.
All in all, very nice relaxing holiday at a good price, definitley worth a go.
