Frantic "google" searching for all inclusive deals in the sun only a day before we flew, lead us to "On the beach" then to "The Side Palace International Hotel" .. looked great both the location, facilities and the price!! you can also see deals on "medhotels".
Late departing flight from Manchester left us in Antalya at 4am.. transfer by taxi was 60 euro's.. (Seems we didn't tick the transfer option!) Once there, it became obvious we were very much in the minority being English !! but still made very welcom. infact a novelty once they reaslised we were English. The resident mix we extimate at:-
5% Others incl us Brits (one other couple)
A few hours sleep and it's a late breakfast. Food all week was good a little repetative in the sald and sweet depatrtment but we didn't even bother venturing to the speciality a-la carte restaraunts, Steak House, Mexican, & Fish which was located idilically on the pier.. Drinks service always efficient, too much sometimes a liitle keen to keep you filled !! ...
Lots to do Watersports good, again a slight language problem.
Pools (3) always clean & not overun by noisy kids... although plenty of kids there, but always well behaved, and kept entertained by a great kids programme.
The beach very close and again kept clean to the extent that they clean up sea-weed during the night.. Beach sandy although pebbles and rocks in the sea.
The 12 person "Animation (Entertainment) Team were very good handling daytime events and each evening a show in the outdoor "Theatre" including, an interesting rendition of GREASE the Musical.. mimed of course.. and a "Miss Side Palace" comedy night.
A rather intrusive Hotel photographer is always available to take very nice portraits. He will take 40 shots and you can choose only one or many at about 5 euros each.. also he'll put on CD if you want.. His English is very good.
The Hotel had major revisons last winter and more planned for this winter, including a new pool.
Rooms great although AC goes off when you leave the room hence to get the room to sensible temperature you need to sit on balcony whilst the AC get's the room temp to a decent level. All week we never got the room down below 22 degs !! a bit of a problem for us sun shy Brits..
As it was so hot, coolest day was 95F, we didn't venture into Side but will take in the sites on our next visit.
In summary not the Caribean but a great place to just chill!! happy to talk or email any comments email@example.com
