“Nice one”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2014

Very nice hotel to have a vacation with kids. Well maintained grounds, several swimming pools, excellent house keeping and friendly staff made our stay very relaxing. The hotel is located away from the center of Side yet we felt that we had everything needed in the neighbourhood and the old town was only a short taxi drive away. Housekeepers at this hotel were just amazing! Rooms are very basic and would benefit from a little fresh up, yet no complaints from us - everything worked the way it was supposed to.

It was our first year Anniversary and we booked for 7 nights, so before our visit we requested for something special. When we actually got to Side after what felt like hours travelling from the airport we were dropped off at the other side of the apartment as our transfer guy didn't have a clue as to where sun city was. Me and my husband were left to find the entrance in this dark alley way!!! As we finally found the entrance we met by a guy behind the reception who was not friendly at all!! He didn't even show us to our room or explain anything!!!

We finally found the room and to our surprise it was quite nice & modern ... Think it was the new refurbishment! As we settled in we realised there was no air conditioning !!! ( you have to pay like £30 -40 for air con)!

There was allot of noise at night! Especially a barking dog!!! Every night!!!

The pool was clean but found the hotel staff quite rude and arrogant!

The only best thing about this place is that the main road is near and the beach is 5min walk!

We didn't book any excursions as we quickly found our way around! We went to the theater and saw the ruins in like 2 hours!!! As it's quite close to the beach!!

I have to admit we had the best hammam experience at prestige hammam!! Eventho they charge you extra for a massage! But it was worth it!!

Eating out was good... We ventured out to a few new places umut restaurant was good and so was Beckhams!! But our little favourite restaurant was hakuna matada across the road from sun city!! Free wifi and the owner was very accommodating!!!

Overall verdict, nice place if you want to relax, clean accommodation ... But shame on the air con and the noises coming from apartments across and that stray dog!!!

The pools was brilliant as there was 3-4 pools one with a slide which we loved!! It was quite most of the time...

I have to say something positive did come out of sun city and that was a lovely lady called cetrina c who very kindly posted out my books that I left at the apartment!! So Thank you so much!!!!!! Your a gem!!!

We arrived at this hotel presuming we were actually at another! We thought we had booked for another hotel called club sun city in turkey in oludeniz and ended up here completely oblivious to what the hotel was like! LUCKILY we were very impressed. Although from outside it kinda looks in the middle of nowhere!

Reception is stunning
All pools are stunning clean tidy cannot fault the pools and grounds absolutely fantastic. It wasnt busy season yet sunbeds and pools soon fill so i bet peak season would be a little overcrowded. Especially with kids! We spent most of our time around the pool with slides and pool near reception.

We were self catering and didnt eat at the hotel apart from ordering a pizza once which was lovely so cannot comment on food. But it had a handy little market on the complex which was great.

Our first night there we went to the spa and had the turkish bath rub. (All at the hotel) Brilliant got rid of all dead skin for a week of tanning!! And facial and head massage were lovely. Defo worth the money

Our room was a little small and very basic. Room 400 our giew was the baby pool ground floor. Everything in the same room bed kitchen etc. But again immaculately clean, maids came every day to make our beds or change them. Towels new everyday. Cannot fault a thing. We even got flowers off them!! The tv had a couple of english channels with good programmes too which is a first haha. If going self catering and you are actually wanting to cook your supply is a little limited. We ate out every night so this is never an issue for us

The only downsides that me and my girlfriend didn't like was there was not many english tourists to talk to, and some of the staff are very touchy feely especially with the girls. We were up for a bit of banter but sometimes u just dint want the hassle. Quite a few times wed go a back way to avoid them asking us to stay for drinks etc. but its the same if you were to go out of the hotel.

Location wise.....its about a ten minute walk uphill then downhill to the beach and restaurants. But beware the hill back up from the beach is a killer haha!

Plenty of restaurants and shops etc a small walk away. Most shops sell the same things. All food we had was fantastic!!! Take extra spending money to buy all the knock off gear some great clothes trainers etc!!!!

Weather wise....beautiful full sun all day apart from one afternoon overcast. We got well into the 30's nearly 40's! Only fault was there was no wind haha!

Beach at some parts is a little packed. Sunbeds very close together but lovely views of all the mountains and paracliders going over your heads.

Overall really really enjoyed the holiday. The amount of freebies we got in the restaurants for been british girls was crazy :) and very much appriciated.!!

Id recommend to anyone xxxxx

We booked this holiday for 4 ladies 2 weeks prior to departing. On arrival we were booked in quickly and shown to our apartment. We were very apprehensive to see apartment, due to reviews.Well our apartment was amazing,2 large double bedrooms, kitchen area including a lounge area.It was immaculately clean and more than our expections. The pools are very clean and well kept, all flower areas are lovely too.The bar restuarant area are well maintained with lovely furniture. All food is very enjoyable. The staff are all very friendly and very much want to provide a perfect service, which they do.We were so impressed we actually ask to meet the Manager to express our disappointment at the bad reviews we had read,to confirm we would writing as found ,which was nothing short of an excellent holiday at the Suncity Apartments. We would all recommend this hotel and we are certainly booking to return next year .

As it was our first time in Turkey we have no other experiences to compare our stay with. However, in comparison to Greek and Spanish islands we can say that Side in Turkey (near Antalya) is a great option for those who want more for their money and who like to explore and experience culture up close too.

My husband and I stayed at Sun City for 10 days and throughly enjoyed the pool, water slides, Turkish Bath Spa and evening entertainment. All staff at the resort were welcoming, very helpful and a delight to talk with.
Our only surprise was that the self catering apartment we had booked was smaller than anticipated and the cooking facilities very basic. But it was very clean and we managed to cook dinners and all sorts.
The reason why we went for self catering was because we both love to cook using local ingredients fresh from a market - which is why we visited the much more informal and über friendly ladies section of the fruit and veg market in Manavgat! Beautiful array of colours and smiley faces, a must!

We booked with Thomas Cook in Brighton, whose knowledge of the area and travel arrangements was spot on. We thought we were quite lucky to get such a great deal and would highly recommend that you check in store for last minute deals too!
Another tip to save money on a few excursions whilst in Side, is that rather than book with the holiday rep, you visit the Dutchman (his shop is on steep road down back of the luxury Hotel Side Prensas site). We booked a beautiful ship trip to Manavgat - we saw loads of dolphins! - as well as a cross country open bus tour through the mountains whereby we swam in a lake, visited an excellent animal park, walked atop a massive dam, were up close to the Manavgat waterfalls and had regular water fights en-route to cool down. The food on the trips was freshly prepared, locally sourced and quite delicious.

Whilst in Side we also had many walks along the beautiful beach promenade (many stray dogs dozing in the sun and kept themselves to themselves), visited the historic amphitheatre, had some great cocktails, delicious local food and a truly magnificent romantic steak dinner on the water at the Cuba Bar.

All in all, this was probably the most relaxing and culturally fulfilling holiday we have ever had together and will make plans to visit again!
