“TREATED LIKE RATS”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

We stayed at the Cats Garden for 2 weeks in August. It was 2 weeks of pestering from most of the waiters around the pool area.
from pestering you to buy a drink everytime you moved to pestering and insulting most of the females around the pool area.
making sexual inuendos everytime the waiters opened their mouths.
The Manager was no better he demanded that I pay another 140 tl towards our air con on the last day of our holiday.when I refused he tried to charge me another 100tl because we left our rooms 15 minutes late.
I again refused to pay so he called the police to try and intimidate me into paying.
When I still refused to pay he threw us out of his hotel.
my party included one of my daughters who has epilepsy and one who has a 16 month old baby.
These people did not care about our wellfare only about one thing ripping people off.

our holiday and our wedding anniversary, turned sour by the shamefull and cowardly actions of the manager and his team.on the 5th day of our holiday, we were threatened with eviction, along with approx 20 other british families, some with children, we were given the option, to sort out this managers financial problems, because he was incabable and acted in a cowardly manner, using his unscrupulous staff to threaten us with eviction, if not for the strength and togetherness of the other families, we all would have been put out on the street, strange country with nowhere to go, people reading this might find this hard to believe, but trust its, true, aviod this despicable hotel , at no time, ever after we and the british holiday companies, sorted this out were we given any apology or offer of even, complimentary drink, no the contrary, so more dilemma, every morning at 5am be prepared to be loudly and profoundly awoken by the wailing of amplified prayers from the mosqe 100 metere away,
the prices in the hotel shop are twice theprice of outside shops, in the room, no facilities, no kettle, toater, air you pay for, the bidet connection fell off the wall, nothing was done for two weeks, when we asked for late check rudley told by the receptionist, 12 o clock, no compromise, bearing in mind all the problems we encountered, our pick was 9pm in the evening, finally after all the hassle the hotel bought in a pr crew to stage filming of happy couples in the hotel, obviously because they know they are not going to get good reviews, be afraid be very afraid i could continue, but aviod this hotel, i await the managers apology lol

where do i start! Check in,the old fella grabs the case and runs to your room and then hangs around for a tip.unpacked tried to get some kip then awoken by mosque at 5am,great start. self catering is a total joke its arranged so that you spend your money in the complex.food drinks and anything in the complex is a rip off, the 2 pools are nice and they come free as long as you can bear the waiters staring at your missis! be aware they only want you to eat food and drink from the bar, there are notices everywhere telling you.the staff at the hotel ignored us after we refused to join their rip off turkish and bbq night, one waiter in particular (aron) was horrid, i would love to meet him back in britian.we were told on day 8 that our holiday had'nt been paid they demmanded 75lira per night for the whole 14nights stay, phoned med hols who told us not to give them a penny and that it had been paid, this put a big damper on the hols as we had 1 day to pay or be thrown out, bearing in mind there were 30 more familys in the complex who had been told the same all british.on the day we were to be thrown out we were told by other british holiday makers that everything was sorted. The owners are money grabbers who will charge you for everything and anything. If your british stay away from cats garden! you have been warned.

We recently returned from staying in this hotel for 10 nights, our room was cleaned daily, with fresh towels and fresh sheets. To describe it as self catering is perhaps taking it too far...2 rings no kettle, very few pots or crockery etc. Didn't affect us too much we found great places to eat...our favorite being Mehmets' in the Ruins which was just around the corner.
Staff could have been a bit more friendly and helpful, there did seem to be a few disputes about people being charged for things the hadn't had or not paying bills etc.
My biggest complaint was there was no hairdryer in the room and none available to hire! Bad hair day for 10 days...but who cares? Sunbeds had seen better days but overall you get what you pay for and for the money it was fine!

We arrived at the hotel just before midnight and was told our room was not ready, no idea how as we had booked to stay at the hotel. After being told we had to go to another hotel for the night and taken there (The Gloria). Absolutely awful place and the thought of staying there filled me and my boyfriend with dread! At 2am we were still waiting as the room there wasn't ready either! We were then taken back to Cats Garden and told our room was finally ready. We were taken up to it after 2.40am by a man who didn't show us anything and asked quite rudely for a tip! If anyone is reading this then please take your own bags to your room.

The room is newly decorated and very nice, there are a few finishing touches still needed but it was very nice. We had booked a room with a pool view but we didn't get it. When the hotel staff were questioned, they denied all responsibly and said that the travel agents always do that to get extra money and it has nothing o do with them. Sounds feasible but I don't trust either side to be straight. The two pools are very nice and there are plenty of sunbeds. The water slide is only on or a couple of hours a day.

Some of the hotel staff can come across as rude and money grabbing and rude. A sign by the tip jar says thank you for the tips we have nearly completed on their apartment in New York.... nice for some! So we didn't eat there ever (there were much nicer and cheaper places anyway).

If you want to book an excursion and you do not have a travel representative at the hotel then I would recommend approaching one of the reps that comes to the hotel for other residents as it is a lot less hassle and it will be a good day out.

The hotel has a shop but it is very expensive, but there is a a shop round the corner that is open very late at night and has a good variety of the basics.

It is only a short walk to the beach which looks at first glance to be very crowed but if you walk left or quite a bit right you can find places were there is very few people. We found a spot just next to where the old town ruins started where there is steps in to sea and only two other people. It was lovely and quite deep so you could swim.

WATCH YOUR MONEY. Outside the hotel, mainly bars and restaurants will give you old money for change. In any other country this is illegal but they don't care here. Hagel for things you will get it cheaper.

CATS. Side quite literally broke my heart, there are so many stray cats some that are in dire need to veterinary assistance and by the state of the the local veterinary clinics, even if I had paid for some of there treatments I doubt they knew what they were doing. The cats are desperate for attention as well as food. One kitten, who has made the hotel her home, a little ginger and white cat, looks very sick and needs all the help she can get. It appears she has an infection around here bun and a very sore nose. She is shy but loves a tickle and really wants to play. If I could I would have brought here home. She sleeps in the drainage system by block 175-180 and likes to sleep there in the afternoon.

We went to Alanya three years ago and loved it, so went to Side this year. Due to the restaurant and shop owners we wont be going back. We could probably handle the constant asking but abuse and rude comments you get when you don't talk to them or go in their shops is disgusting.

Arrived early morning, siutcase grabbed by elderly man, passports grabbed by receptionist, suitcase delivered to room, hand out demanding TIP.......not good start. First day no water for shower and no electricity (everyone shouting Technik!!!!). Take a pen and paper to the bar with you as if you dont keep a note of what you order they will always add extras on. Watch that they dont add on to your room bill as well. Double charged one couple for air con (they paid up front) then called the army in to evict them when they wouldnt pay again!!!!!! Food far too expensive and not very good, eat elsewhere. Toilet stopped flushing on 3 separate days and had to really kick off to get it fixed. #Shower door fell on my head and a cleaners head, 3 days to get that fixed and broken parts dumoed on shower floor where my partner stepped on them and hurt his foot. One huge pot and one frying pan (they dont want you cooking in the rooms but spending at their restaurant). Hundreds of children (not sutable for couples wanting a quiet break). Some staff were lovely but very obviously not trusted by the management, only management allowed to handle money and it takes ages for them to bring your change.

Room Tip: Not 321, its on the ground floor next to the road and the path the cleaners use so no privacy at all...

I was travelling 2 adults and 2 kids the apartments were newly renovated and clean. They had 2 slides in a separate pool that were open twice a day. They have a large pool as well as a small baby pool. We had a short walk to the beach and restaurants/shops and a bus ride to the old town and more choice restaurants/shops, and old amphitheatre and Apollo ruins. Very good base and close to supermarkets for self catering and the weekly outdoor market held on a saturday was a 5 minute walk from the apartments. Side a very nice resort with sandy beach, long promenade to walk on and bohemian at night with bean bags on the beach with lanterns and water pipes or drinks served by candlelight. A very upmarket resort at the same time respectful of its history dating back to 200 ad Greek times a very nice change from rowdy Marmaris.
