“Has it changed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I would like to hear from someone that stayed in the hotel when it was the Asteria and stayed when it was changed to Side Star Elegance. I am staying for 2 weeks in August and would like some feedback. I have clicked on that I was there April 2015 to allow me to post this.

Brilliant hotel me my boyfriend and parents came here on 4th of July 2014 we arrived at the hotel at 10:30pm we was greeted in the reception by staff who politely took our suitcases to our rooms and offered us drinks and food prepared for the late flights coming in. The rooms were modern and clean the hotel was also kept clean. Our room was 868 and was extremely quiet at night. The food was delious with a huge variety day and night, I would highly recommend the figittas served around the pool area in the midday they were delious! Gather day time entertainment was brilliant around the pool and if your looking for something a little more quieter the beach is right on the doorstep :) couldn't fault this hotel at all the staff couldn't do enough for you and worked amazingly together best week away I've had in a long time would defiantly go back!! :D

We had read all the reviews and they were very accurate. The hotel is a little tired, due to beremodelled this winter. BUT is was all very good. Mostly German holidaymakers but suits us we like to please ourselves anyway.
The only reason I haven't given it five stars is that they were a bit mean with air conditioning, wasn't kept on all night and it was extremely hot for this time of year. The shower was temperemental but apart from that everything was extremely good--- food--- service-----entertainment, and staff.

Room Tip: Face the sea.

The hotel is large but during our stay it wasn't over-crowded, or with long waits/queues for food or facilities. The clientele is primarily German but there are several other nationalities present. Food is of a good standard with plenty of variety regardless of your taste e.g. meat, fish, vegetarian, desserts, fruit, cheese etc. You can eat at virtually any time of day or night. Bars are open until the early hours and staff are keen to wait on you, even though they're not selling because it's all-inclusive.
Entertainment in the evening is pretty good - better than in a lot of places we've stayed where it's a bit too 'European' and cheesy. Daily animation programme is varied and the staff make the activities really good fun. They don't keep hassling you to join in.
The beach is nice and sandy, however, like all the hotels along this side of the town the sun beds and parasols are very close together. You also need to get to the beach early otherwise all the sun beds have been taken.
The swimming pool is very clean and pretty big. There is a water slide available for about an hour each morning and afternoon. Also a flume, available at same time as the slide, but it appears a bit dangerous if you go down very fast.
Rooms are big enough and clean, as is bathroom. The supply of lotions etc is a bit hit and miss, some rooms get more than others e.g. friends had a razor and bath robes whereas we didn't. We had to ask for coffee in the room but there was a lot of tea and creamer provided. Fridge was restocked when we asked but was supposed to be automatically. The air conditioning isn't particularly effective so I wouldn't like to be there in the summer months. The pillows are cheap foam and do not make for a good night sleep, although the beds are comfy.
Disco music was a bit too techno for us (we're mid 50s) and presumably most of the rest of the guests who were older than us.
The hotel is quite a long walk from the town but it's a pleasant walk along the promenade or a short dolmus ride. I wouldn't recommend the hotel for anyone with mobility difficulties because it's over several floors and the lift doesn't go to the lowest level, and you have to go down a lot of steps or a long ramp to the pool or beach. Other than that, it's good exercise to try and burn off all the calories from the food and drink.

Room Tip: Ask for room in the main hotel block on floors -4 to 1 if you want lift access to restaurants, gym...

This is primarily a German hotel and as such the food is orientated to their tastes. The hotel complex is nice and the rooms are clean and tidy. The staff are not very friendly though which was disappointing and the food hygiene was terrible. There was no alcohol gel when you walked into the restaurant and it was a free for all to grab a table. This was made more difficult by the staff not being in any rush to reset tables once they were vacated. Table cloths were invariably covered in cigarette ash and it was normal to have to ask the staff for clean cutlery. The food was nice but hot dishes were often cold as they'd stood for so long. No surprise that on day 3 we both good food poisoning that ruined the rest of the holiday. Promised a lot but actually disappointing.

From the time we arrived until the time we left - I can't think of anything that I was disappointed with! The staff were great, hotel immaculate, the pool was clean and the grounds well kept. The food amazing and the drinks didn't stop flowing! The hotel has its own private beach area with security guards ensuring that only guests enter the hotel grounds. We chose the Hotel for the location and with the help of tripadvisor reviews. This hotel is approx. 40 min walk along the beach in to Side or a short taxi ride. I highly recommend this Hotel and would book it again. P.S I hear that there are plans to add more rooms - they have the grounds to extend but I hope they add another pool area too .... Currently there are enough sun beds for all around the pool BUT if they build another wing without enlarging the pool (or adding another pool area) it could be a problem.
