This is by far the most delicious food I have eaten in a long time. Best fish ever. I thought, looking at people's reviews.. Milk fish?! EW. But actually it was phenomenally succulent and tasty.
I ordered the swordfish, which came on a skewer and had a lovely tomato and vegetable accompaniment but I just couldn't stop eating my partner's!
It is standard for most places to offer you mixed meze to begin with and to take your drinks order. The waiters here did it with a feeling of no pressure and I felt relaxed the whole time. It is quite rare to find somewhere which doesn't have someone breathing down your neck the whole time.
Basic rule... if there is someone outside, who, when you quickly glance at the menu runs over giving you a detailed account of their food. Avoid it. We made this mistake just a couple of places down from Ruhi Bey as we couldn't get in one night as it was full. We booked for the Saturday- You will probably have to book in advance too.
The place is attached to a rug shop and was awful.
The meze at Ruhi Bey was delicious. We had a bottle of white wine which was also lovely and fresh.
Service was perfect. Left enough time to chat in between and enjoy the atmosphere.
Ooh. We did spoil it a little by finishing with a Raki. OOF! Not like the raki we had in Crete in previous years. Very much like strong sambucca. Give it a try but at your peril (and I can drink).
Thanks guys for a lovely evening. Made our time in the town very special.
