“Small family hotel in lovely setting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

Following a week sailing on a Gulet my wife and I with an old friend spent 5 nights here on B & B terms. The owner couple and their four key staff are unusually welcoming and friendly, providing excellent service and help with bookings etc. The hotel is very quiet, set in a pleasant garden with a very large infinity pool and a good poolside bar. Views over the steep town and surrounding mountains are spectacular. A nice buffet breakfast is served outside, and simple lunches too, but dinner service is not usual. The hotel provides good value, but do not expect the level of luxury often associated with boutique or country house hotels of similar size. Our double room was small and plain, with little storage space (a small wardrobe), and nowhere to sit. The double bed however was generous, though with little choice of covering. There is a somewhat squeaky room air conditioner, not really needed in late September, but indispensable in July and August when highs of 40 C in daytime are normal. The bathroom was far below par, with a shower suitable for a dolls house, and towels that were small, barely absorbent and with a coarse rough texture. The whole bathroom showed signs of mould growth, and is overdue for a complete refit. With so many favourable signals, especially from the owners and staff, it is a pity this hotel has not been kept up to scratch in its accommodation - it is pleasant but could be really good with modest investment.

Room Tip: Room overlooking the gardens is best, and suites are bigger but bathrooms not much better, If overlo...

I can only repeat what has already been said by others, this is a lovely hotel, quiet, fantastic staff, good rooms and great value. Be warned though Kalkan is not for anyone with walking difficulties!

Room Tip: Go for the junior suites they have a little more room and are not expensive

The Asiyan is a fantastic B&B boutique hotel and you would never expect to find it here in such a fabulous location if you didn't know!

Rooms - We have stayed here twice and have had a suite both times. It is definitely worth the little bit of extra money for the larger room. You get a separate living area with 2 armchairs and the TV, plus an extra balcony. As the balconies are quite small it's great having 2 balconies as both me and my husband could sit on 1 each and easily chat as they are close by. Great views of Kalkan too especially from the 2nd floor. The wardrobe is large and contains 8 hangers so if you need more take extra! Nice big dressing table too. The air con is good too once it gets going. As others have said the bathrooms are small, but perfectly manageable. Shower is small but always plenty of hot water and to be honest we didn't find it an issue. there is mini bar in room with beer & soft drinks which are reasonably priced. No tea & coffee/kettle in room so if you ;like a hot drink 1st thing take a travel kettle. The other thing is there is no safe included in the room. All the safes are in reception and cost £10 a week

Food & Drink - Breakfast is served until 10am - self service and plenty of choice. Baskets of fresh bread, jams, honey etc. Also youhurt and melon/dried fruit, cereals, and selections of meats, cheeses, olives, eggs, salad etc. Some days there are homemade Turkish Specialties too.
There is a good choice of lunchtime snacks available such as salads, burgers, pasta, toasted sandwiches etc and these range from 7-13 lira so all good value. Also lots of nearby restaurants/snack bars nearby, and an amazing kebab house 2 minutes walk away which proved very popular with us and some of the other people we met in the hotel (hello Darren!!).
Tuna who serves at the pool bar most days is very helpful and friendly, and always gave us nuts with our lunchtimes beers which was nice. Some reviewers havew said the service at the ppol bar isn't grreat but believe me it isn't an issue. on the rare occasion when the bar is unmanned you just have to walk 40 yards to reception and someone immediately will come and serve you - it isn't a problem really!

Location - Fabulous location - less than 5 minute walk to the 100s of restaurants and bars, or the marina. But so quiet during the day. Huge garden and pool for a hotel with only 12 rooms. Sunbeds are spaced out and you can take on to the grass if you prefer. Some days we were the only couple around the pool in the day and this was in August!

All in all this is a little gem of a hotel and we think ot is very reasonably priced and have just booked our 3rd holiday there for next year

Room Tip: Book a suite it's well worth it.

The Asiyan is an oasis of calm and relaxation. Our stay here was even better than expected. The staff team are brilliant and add to the holiday experience. The hotel is in a very good location for all the restaurants, bars and shops. Its a few minutes easy walk to the harbour. Lots to do in Kalkan day and night but the hotel pool is also very nice if you just fancy staying put during the day. Most guests go back year after year. It was our first visit but we seriously hope to be back soon.

The location is great for an evening wander down to the town and to the famous Gulets, which are always good value. Zuhai and Tuna are the motors of this very friendly hotel - nothing is too much trouble for them and Tuna is also the life and sole of the hotel. Husna and Nuri - the owners - were always on hand and made us feel at home. Hurricane Elif has to be the fastest cleaning lady we've ever come across! The pool area and the pretty garden are lovely and great for relaxing and it even sports a VERY comfortable hammock with a an adjustable umbrella which varies the amount of shade from total to being swung out of the sun's way.

This was our third stay at the Asiyan, so obviously we like it! The location is perfect for an evening stroll down the hill to eat at one of the many rooftop restaurants. The hotel with it's beautiful garden and immaculate pool provides the perfect place in which to relax completely. Husna and Nuri, the owners, are always on hand and they and their excellent staff go out of their way to make sure everything runs smoothly. Special mention must go to the cleaner who must hold some kind of record for the speed and efficiency of her cleaning! We just love staying here and hope to be back soon.

Room Tip: We have always booked a suite.

Spent 10 days at this great friendly hotel. Husna & Nuri, the owners, + Zuhal,Tuna,Epec and the whirlwind cleaner made our holiday very enjoyable. So friendly and helpful, gorgeous pool which I swam 20 lengths every day.Well kept gardens and plenty of sunbeds. Lovely breakfast and great Tuna salad at the pool bar on a lunch time. Location of hotel is close to town centre, we would definitely return to this fabulous hotel and recommend it to our family and friends. A hidden gem in beautiful Kalkan. Susan & Kenny
