“Chilled time in beautiful spot with friendly staff and great service - great hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

Having read a few of the other reviews I can wholeheartedly agree with every word. We have visited Kalkan twice in succession now and are going back this year and I never usually visit the same place twice! Serkan the hotel manager is so welcoming and helpful in every way which is reassuring and makes for an excellent stay at the Kalamar Bay Hotel. The beach club is great, free of charge for beds etc. for residents and you get a ride back up at the end of the day which saves walking up the hill when you're worn out enjoying yourself! The views from the hotel are magical and stay with you for the rest of the year till you can return to see the turquoise blue waters once again and the mountains are magnificent looming in the background. I would write for hours but all I can say is you must visit this hotel and certainly Kalkan (but don't tell too many people) as although the shops and restaurants are bustling in the evening it is still a relatively unspoiled holiday destination - just love it.

As we have visited Kalkan for a few years now we have come to love this place so much. Staying at the Kalamar hotel was perfect for us, the flexibility with the pool side or the beach club just down the hill was great (steps down to the beach club). We spent most days by at the beach club as the staff were so friendly and welcoming, especial musti, and as the beach club is part of the hotel you dont have to pay for beds or umbrellas which was a bonus.

The night life is also fab, having the choice between a walk round the shops (which are just brill if you enjoy to treat yourself), quite night in a wine bar or lively in the clubs, suited us perfectly.

With the hotel being a little out form the town, this meant there was a nice stroll in the evening staggered by the bars on the way in - made it all the more enjoyable. A walk in and a taxi ride back could be advised, however, some night we did walk back and it was nice as there was a breeze. (apx 20 mins)

The panoramic views from the hotel are breath taking, you can encounter them each morning as you have your breakfast- which will suit even the fussiest of eaters. The staff at the hotel were brilliant, full of useful information, helping you save a penny or two where they could advising on trips and how to get about. We staying the duplex suite, which was fantastic, having a lovely terrace to enjoy the morning sun and a nice tipple to start the night off at sunset. it also had a balcony with stunning views.

Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Cant wait for august!!

Room Tip: As its your holiday splash out a little and go for one of the suite they are lovely and add some lux...

My friend and I are great lovers of Kalkan and have been visiting for several years now. We have stayed in different accommodations but kalamar hotel is our favourite by far!

Breakfast is unreal, and you get the privilege of enjoying your food with breathtaking views over the kalamar bay! It really is spectacular!!

We upgraded to a duplex room (the honeymoon suite in fact). We found it just added that bit more of luxury to our holiday and gave us a great terrace with sun beds to catch the early morning rays.

Location wise this hotel was perfect for us, we love the bars and restaurants down kalamar road and some nights we never even made it down into town. The restaurants on kalamar road are incredible there is no need to pay the premium down by the harbour or in town. Aqua, cafe Vita, Moonlight terrace just to name a few are the best.

The beach club is a definite bonus and there's no charge for beds or umbrellas while you're staying at the hotel. We go everyday and the staff are brilliant especially Musti we love him. Food is also very good we often eat lunch there to seek shade at the hottest part of the day.

We are planning our trip to Kalkan for this August 2014 and will definitely be staying at the kalamar hotel!

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Kalamar Hotel in June 2013 (yes, only just getting around to writing this review!) and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Whilst our room was a little on the small side, it was perfect for our needs and immaculately clean. The view from our shared terrace was spectacular, one we admired each evening over a glass of Turkish wine before heading out for dinner. Breakfast each morning was delicious (fresh fruits, cereals, toast, eggs, meat, juice, coffee etc), served on a terrace looking over the ocean. We arrived late at night, but we were greeted on our first morning by the friendly and welcoming hotel manager who provided us with information about the hotel itself and the local area. The beach club was probably our favourite part of the stay – we loved spending our ‘quiet days’ relaxing on the spotless terraces and going for cooling swims in the sea. The beach club staff were incredibly hospitable and we got to know them throughout our stay. As our flight back to the UK was late at night, but the checkout time was in the morning, the hotel manager provided us with a room to shower and dress in, along with fresh towels. This was much appreciated after a long and sticky day down at the beach club! We would recommend this hotel without hesitation, although be prepared to spend a fair amount of money on taxis – the 30 min hike back from town twice a day in the scorching heat was tough, although reduced our guilt levels after eating so much wonderful food in the local restaurants every night.

Just returned from a seven night stay at the Kalamar. Sadly we found the hotel to be soulless. Such a shame as it is in a beautiful location overlooking the Kalamar bay.

It has nicely furnished rooms, although they are small. We did consider upgrading to a split level duplex but with the bedroom on the upper level, and the bathroom on the lower level, connected by a rather dodgy spiral staircase, we decided against it. We had frequent linen changes and the place was spotlessly clean. However, there was no one around. The bar and the hotel itself were deserted most of the time and we found that the folk staying there used it as a place to sleep and shower. The only time we saw anyone was at breakfast time.

Another possible downside, depending on your attitude towards physical exercise, is that the hotel is a bit far out from the town centre. For those who are maybe a bit less inclined to stretch the legs a bit there is a hotel bus that does a morning and evening one way trip and there is also a dolmus but we are not sure how often that runs. A taxi we understand is approx 16YTL one way. The obvious alternative of course is to walk but we were astonished as to how many people baulked at the prospect of a twenty five minute walk into town.

The beach club, which is owned by the hotel, is as we have always found it absolutely superb. The hotel does a shuttle bus to and from the beach club. It is an easy downhill walk to the club but a bit of a hike back up a very very steep hill , and we mean steep, so the bus was a bit of a bonus after spending an exhausting day soaking up the sun.

For what we paid for B&B the hotel provided good value for money. We can't comment on the quality of service other than to say we rarely saw any staff other than a young lass clearing breakfast tables and the manic cleaning lady who we have to say did do a grand job.

Whether or not it was a case of late season malaise that was affecting the atmosphere it is hard to judge. We suspect it is always like this which is sad. An injection of a bit of life would greatly help make the hotel better.

We shall return to Kalkan. It is unashamedly a seaside holiday resort but it does have a certain charm. However, next time we will either self cater or choose one of the many hotels closer to town.

we have just returned from a two week stay at the Kalamar hotel our large duplex room was great with our own private balcony and sheard terrace we had amazing views across Kalamar bay, breakfast was taken on the roof top terrace which once again gave us breathtaking views. The hotel is a little out of town however the hotel provided a shuttle bus in the morning and again in the evening. The hotel is quiet and is perfect for a peaceful holiday. The Kalamar beach club can be accessed by steps if you are feeling fit or you can take the free shuttell bus which runs ever hour, the sunbeds and parasols are free of charge to hotel guest. The guest relations manager Serkan greeted us every morning ensuring we had everything we needed and was able to give us advice regarding trips and the local area, we found all the staff from the beach club boys hotel kitchen staff and house keepers friendly and happy to help.I am looking forward to booking for a return journey next year.

Room Tip: Duplex have the best views however the bathroom is down stairs the suites are large plenty of room

My wife & I have recently returned from two weeks in the Kalamar Hotel. My overall rating is based on its very fair value for money. Yes, the standard rooms are a little small. However the beds are good quality & the linen is changed very regularly. The bathroom is cramped, but I've not had a shower with so much pressure before. The views from the hotel are stupendous & well worth sitting on the terrace sipping a drink from your own fridge as the sun went down.
We're both retired, but active, hence the steps up to the wonderful breakfast terrace & down to the beach club were quite 'do-able'. The beach club is a real asset - Dosh, Mustapha & the other lads couldn't do enough to help. The restaurant drinks might be a little pricey, but as a hotel guest we didn't pay for the chairs, brollies etc.
We didn't use the other hotel facilities so can't really comment except to say that more could be done to attract guests to the bar area in the evening.
The walk into Kalkan was a bit of a hike. The hotel does provide a courtesy bus into tow both in the morning & evening. However, we almost always got a taxi back which cost around a fiver. Some nights we ate locally. If you can put up with the disorganisation (especially when it came to pay the bill, then Café Vita is the best especially their 'barbecue nights' which were excellent value.
What more can I say an [lace to stay.
