I've been dining in Kalkan for years & I can't believe that I have not discovered this gem before.
Adam's Place is situated on the road to Kas, just on the corner before you see the sea & start the drive along the stunning coast road. It's elevated position gives you an amazing view all the way down the coast to Meis ( the Greek island opposite Kas).A truly glorious site to have a restaurant.
Adam & his lovely wife & 3 daughters live & work here, growing vegetables for the table, rearing quail & chickens for your eggs for your Turkish breakfast & running this restaurant. Adam told me he used to run a restaurant in the middle of Kalkan, but as the rents increased, he decided to relocate to here.
I bumped into a couple in Kaya that told me to try this restaurant as they go all the time. I had read previous reviews on 'trip adviser' which were also good.
I arranged for Adam to pick us up from our villa, which he will happily do & then drop you back home when you are finished, for free!! He arrived promptly & we chatted away on our journey about his family etc, he is such a lovely, kind man.
We had a lovely table overlooking the ocean, with the full moon & stars above, the most romantic setting & because it is low season the place was quiet. Heaven on earth!
We ordered a mixed Meze plate to start, followed by lamb shanks, which we had been told was a must try.
The hot & cold mixed Meze was the best I have ever had in anywhere Turkey. The cheese borek & courgette fritter were as light as a feather & delicious & the rest were perfectly cooked & very tasty. all grown by Adam in his garden organically.
The lamb shanks to follow were served on flaming platters, with rice & vegetables & were equally delicious. The meat was so tender & full of flavour.
After the meal we were given a complimentary orange liquor, while we chatted to Adam, his wife, who cooks like an 'angel',' & 2 of his daughter, the oldest who serves in the restaurant & the 5 year old who is so cute. We are learning Turkish & they were all happy to teach us, as we laughed & joked.
Before they took us home, they gave us a bag filled with freshly laid hen & quail eggs for our breakfast the following morning. I'll be honest they nearly made me cry, they were so kind & friendly.
You can probably tell from my ramblings, how last night's meal at Adam's place has affected me?As i eat the delicious quails eggs he gave me for breakfast, I am planning my return visit, which will be very soon believe me!
