“Can't wait to go back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2010

We have just returned from a week at this Hotel & can't fault it.
From the outside it is a peculiar looking building, but inside it is beautiful.
On arrival the bellboy takes your luggage & delivers it to your room. We had booked a standard room, but were put in a jacuzzi room for the first night. This was a huge room, with jacuzzi surrounded by windows overlooking the sea. ( there were blinds too! ). This room also had a power shower with jets & choice of 2 heads, had a remote controlled air con unit. ( Standard rooms have only centrally controlled air con )Next day we were shown our standard room, which was really very nice & spacious, but we decided to keep the jacuzzi room for 25 euros extra per night - money well spent. The rooms are carpetted, which was a first for us abroad.
The hotel has several bars, all of which are good, drinks are good too. The main Zen restaurant serves a huge variety of food at every meal. At breakfast there is fruit, cereal, yoghurt, chocolate fountain, eggs, ( no bacon - muslim ),a bakery baking pastries & croissants, an ommelette chef, anything you want really, including freshly squeezed orange juice.. Lunch & dinner are similar, hot & cold buffet with " live " cooking stations. You can sit outside if you like, but beware the sparrows! All of the hot food dishes have digital thermometers showing the temperature of the food & the food was constantly being replaced. In addition to the main restaurant there are snack bars at lunchtime. The one by the beach does amazing chicken doner, grilled fish & salads. On the beach there is freshly made ice cream & toasties & a ladt making Gozleme - thin flatbreads with fillings. You can even have room service free from 2-4.30am.
There is water everywhere, various pools & lazy rivers. The main pool gets busy & there are activities like aqua gym & polo going on there& fairly loud music. There are plenty of quieter spots though if thats your scene. If you want a lounger in a certain spot you have to be up early with your towel though! Unable to sleep we spotted people reserving their loungers before daylight, at 4am!!!
Lara is not really a resort as such. All along the beach are huge all inclusive resort hotels served by a big wide main road. On the other side of the road are flats housing the many people working in the hotels, & a variety of shops & malls selling mostly fake goods like clothing, watches & sunglasses.Having said that, apart from weandering along a couple of times we didn't leave the hotel complex at all. There is a bus to Alanya, but it was mid to high 30's every day & too hot!
Everywhere is spotlessly clean, rooms & public areas. The poolside toilets were incredible, constantly being cleaned & mopped.
The animation team work incredibly hard & organise lots of things to do, but only if you want to. There was no pressure.
English people are a minority in this hotel. While we were there there were 60% dutch, closely followed by Germans & Bwlgians & a few turks & eastern europeans. Most of the staff spoke a bit of English & certainly reception staff were fluent.
Wifi is available in several public areas at no charge, & there is an internet cafe, but pricey at 3 euros for 30 mins.
Transfer time is about 30 mins from the airport. Please be aware that food & drink at the airport is expensive.A whopper meal at burger king costs 10.5 Euros - about £9, & the same for pizaa or KFC type chicken. There is a big duty free shop in the terminal, but spirits are cheaper in Tesco.
All in all we couldn't find a fault, & can't wait to go back.We always go away for a week & for the first time ever, we wished we could stay here for 2 weeks, it was that good.
Happy to answer any questions.

Room was a Jacuzzi suite 2 rooms, a Jacuzzi in the bedroom, a large area of glazing, large terrace with sun loungers and a table, a bottle of wine and fruit in room upon arrival was a vase with fruits brought in a day, bedding changed every other day. An air conditioner does not cool the central afternoon, rescued two more, which in suites and cool weather! Bathroom clean, all Grohe (in the shower massage). Cleaning of the room was mediocre, the dust is not wiped away, and the campaign is already quite a while!
Sunbeds at the pool of free practice was not. Beach is clean, the pier in good condition!
The hotel area, though not very big, but very carefully. A lot of pools around the water. Territory-groomed, gardeners all the time to do something, dig, plant, sweep. The only thing in there is almost no trees. But the green is more than enough ...
Generally, the hotel is somewhat reminiscent of the maze, difficult to navigate at first, then day at the third accustomed. I'm glad that in the hotel there are plenty of cozy places where you can quietly sit in deep leather sofas and armchairs, where no one hurt.
By feeding each day continuous déjà vu that the first day that the last menu was the same. All delicious, but without frills. Fresh juices are not seen, only packaged. Served fast, no claims to the boys, worked as a bee and do not forget to smile! In general, all staff at the hotel claims no. Everything was perfect! I liked a lot of bars in the hotel, good cocktails.

O.k..The building from the outside looks grim and we wondered where we had come to. However once inside we were relieved. We arrived late at night and didn't have much time to explore. In the morning we realised that we were in the wrong rooms ( we booked 2 rooms sleeping 4 people) as we like a lot of space. However our rooms were 2 twin rooms sleeping 2 or 3. My husband told a member of reception staff who shrugged her shoulders and said there was enough room for us. Hence us resolving the situation with the rep..

The food was plentiful and not bad. Didn't like the way the lunchtime snack area around the pool served the food with a rubber glove and just picked up the chips, burgers and salad by hand and not utensils. Not very 5*..We tried the Indian, mexican and Italian..All where good. We didn't like the house wine and shorts but beggars can't be choosers..

The pool area was lovely. Something for everyone. The main pool is busy and loud at times but lots of quieter areas. We prefered the decking area by the beach as it had a nice breeze ( we did have to be down at about 6 though to get these). Tried to book a cabanna but they were all booked up.

The hotel itself is huge...There are some lovely comfy areas to sit and have a drink and some less inviting chairs in the middle of nowhere..The hotel was full but always somewhere to sit and relax.

The party nights and fireworks where lovely and the grounds looked very pretty and a lot of effort was put in..The staff do work very hard..

All in all we had a lovely week..Only niggles were obviously our room mix up,the look of the building and the little touches were not there. We have stopped in plenty of other 5 * hotels and have had chocolates on pillows, fruit and wine in the rooms and nuts with drinks and things like that which were not here at the Limak lara..They try hard but not quite got it yet..

Go to Turkey soon because we noticed they are putting the prices up and up so will soon be like the EU countries...

I have been reading the reviews on this hotel for some months and some have been mixed. I can assure anyone thinking of visiting this hotel they will not be disappointed!

The hotel is huge however you find your bearings after a day or two. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from - the food is really good especially in the Sushi/Thai. There are lots of sun loungers by the various pools (only complaint was that we had to get up at 6am to put the towels down!), the grounds were immaculate and all the pools were really clean and very warm!

The staff were all very helpful and friendly and spoke good English. Plenty of entertainment going on all day every day - make sure you go to the party nights, the effort put in to them is amazing!

Fantastic hotel for families with kids of all ages. Also check out the Spa - lovely treatments and reasonably priced.

Following our fantastic experience at Royal Wings in May 2009 (two hotels further along the beach, read the review) we decided to try another property at Lara Beach. This was our fourth all inclusive holiday in Turkey and all have been very good. The Limak Lara hotel is modern and extremely well maintained. The food was of a very good standard with plenty of choice but did become a bit repetitive after eleven days (There was a more selection of food at Royal Wings). There was plenty of choice even for the fussiest of eaters.

The staff, with exception of the exception of one or two, were very friendly and hard working. The lad serving sandwiches and ice creams on the beach (sorry can't remember his name!) was our favourite; always smiling and ready for a chat. However, the organisation of the staff in the dining room in the evening was poor and getting served with drinks was extremely slow and getting a second drink quite often impossible. In my opinion they need more staff allocated to fewer tables during the dinner period. The cleanliness throughout the whole hotel and grounds was excellent, particularly the public toilets which were spotlessly clean.

We stayed for eleven days in August and, although the hotel was full, there was never a feeling of being too crowded. There seemed to be plenty of of bed chairs but if you want to sit close to the main pools beware that the usual competition with Johnny Foreigner means that you will need to get up very early to reserve beds with your towels. Unfortunately, unlike Royal Wings, this hotel does not enforce its policy of not allowing guests to reserve beds before 9am. Most of the best sited beds were reserved before 7.00am (many before 6.30am!!). There are plenty of covered areas and sun shades which were a blessing as the temperatures were getting up to 45 degrees whilst we were there.

The pools were very good and were built to a high standard. The dark coloured tiles on the main pool meant that it heated up more than the other pools. Not so great on days when it is 45 degrees and you are looking to cool down but ideal for earlier/later in the season when a warmer pool will be a real benefit. The waterslides are ideal for small children through to mid-teens.

The hotel is predominantly occupied by Germans and other nationalities, although there seemed to be more Brits than at Royal Wings. The majority of guests appeared to understand the concept of queuing to get a drink but many of the foreign women either seemed to have no perception of how many people were already at the bar when they arrived or they were just arrogant/ignorant and didn't care if they pushed in. You be the judge but this is not the British way of doing things and it did get a few 'backs up' from time to time.

The entertainment team work especially hard and are the best that we have seen on any of our visits to Turkey. They work tirelessly for the benefit of the guests from early morning until late at night They are not pushy and leave you alone if you do not want to join in.

There is not much outside of the hotel in Lara Beach and the prices are more expensive than other places we have visited in Turkey. You will need to venture into Antalya if you want to go shopping or site seeing.

All in all this was a fantastic holiday and great value for the price that we paid. In our opinion Royal Wings has the slight edge on Limak Lara but it is very close and both have extremely high standards. We would be happy to stay at either property again but are more likely to try another of the properties at Lara Beach.

We returned home 28/8/10 after 2 fab weeks. Anyone visiting this hotel should ignore the bad reviews, dont let them put you off. We did not suffer any type of stomach upsets or ear infections AT ALL.

Firstly gripes - MANAGEMENT PLEASE NOTE: I do agree that there are birds in the restaurant and if the hotel management read this it should be looked at because this should not happen and this and the fact that not everyone handling food wore CLEAN gloves. Also drinks flat and no bottled water available at bars only cups.

The rest is all good. The main restaurant had an extensivechoice of food including things you get charged for at other AI (help yourself orange juice). If you cant find anything to eat you must be extremely picky. The ala cartes are excellent and we visited them all and revisited the Indian and Mexican but Hotel Management YOU SHOULDNT HAVE TO PAY EXTRA THE HOLIDAY COSTS ENOUGH AS IT IS. All booked with no problem at all, another thing we had probs with at other hotels even though the wine wasnt as free flowing as perhaps it should be!!

The room was lovely and we had a distant sea view, but to be honest we were never in there - kids slept on bed setee (double) and bed chair, but said comfy enough. Wardrobe area (not walk in) and sliding door to double bed and jacuzzi bath with separate toilet. Upstairs shower room/toilet also. This was a family room. Bit of an issue with lifts but same anywhere, the higher floors seem to get preference.

Booked "sultan" for daughters birthday, and this was ok, good service but dont know if worth 55 euro, but it was our choice to have one!!!

Night entertainment- they do like their parties!! White night, Pier party, Beach party and horror party at disco were the ones we went to. Didnt go to shows after first few as all the same in any hotel (think they must have scripts they buy as all same jokes/routines etc) Kids went then met us at Tea House bar after as we liked to listen to the live music which started at same time (ish) as the show. Mostly good. Brill service in there =- waitress quickly remembered what we drank and it was constant!!!

Hotel very clean everywhere. Air Con good (Mexican bit warm). Nice inside and outside seating areas very plush and never seemed crowded apart from early morning sunbed rush - all hotspots quickly taken but lots of beds on beach if you like.

We went around the grounds of quite a few hotels on the strip and there were only one or two of these whose grounds anywhere near matched the Limak Lara.

Would return (went to Limak Atlantis last year) but there are too many hotels out there to try!!!

Travelled to the Limak Lara between the 3rd- 17th August with my wife and teenage daughter, we stayed in a standard twin room , with a sea view. We had a great 2 weeks , with great weather and were fortunate enough to meet some really nice people. I will try to give an overview of some of the main points that people like to know when choosing a hotel

Rooms

The standard rooms were of a good size and consisted of a double and single bed with a separate seating area as well as a walk in wardrobe , mini bar , flat screen wall mounted TV , free safe and a good size bathroom with full size bath and shower. The room was cleaned daily and towels were also changed daily. The mini was restocked every day with 2 Efes beers , 3 waters , coke , fanta , fizzy water and juice cartons. The rooms were air conditioned , which worked really well and was very effective. The balcony was a good size with a table and chairs and a line to help with any drying. Everyone we spoke to was very happy with their choice of rooms.

Hotel/ Check In

We had a late flight and did not arrive until the early hours approx 02.15, check in was quick and efficient. We got the room exactly as booked , and took advantage of the free room service (free between 02.00 -04.30 ) to have a bite to eat whilst we unpacked. The hotel itself is very clean and has an oriental theme , with each floor having a name as does each room ( we stayed in room 1219 - Honjo ). The hotel is a bit like a maze at first , but after a couple of days you soon learn your way around, however i am sure you will still discover new parts all the time.We had pre booked a late checkout room as we had a night flight on our return , however even if we had not there are adequate facilities at the spa to get changed and have a shower etc, and of course your AI continues until your coach arrives.

Food/ Restaurants

The main Zen restaurant offered a great selection of food , although sometimes busy we always managed to get a table in a nice place . Waiter service was the norm for drinks and you never had to wait long to be served. We particulaly enjoyed breakfast sitting outside with the sun shining , my wife said that the choice of fruit was the best of any hotel we have ever visited. There are 6 A la carte's , 3 of which have a charge of 9 euro's for adults and 5 euro's for children. The chargeable ones are the Italian , Sushi/Thai , and the Mexican , the remaining 3 , Turkish , Fish and Tandoori are free. Restaurants can be booked 1 day in advance from your room or through guest relations, we travelled in the peak period and managed to eat in all of them with no trouble on the days we required. Some friends we met preferred to eat in the A la carte's and did so on 13 nights of their holiday ( they had to try the Zen once ). We enjoyed all the A la carte's and would recommend you visit them , everyone has a different favourite , we loved the sushi/thai and the steak at the Italian was fantastic.
For Lunch either the Laila snack bar , offering choice of salads , fish and meats etc , or the Tandoori snack bar for burgers , pizza's , pide etc. The main Zen restaurant also opens for lunch

Pool/ Beach

The hotel has a good selection of pools , there is a lazy river type that meanders around the hotel ,also the main pool where the animation team do their bit with pool games and great music getting people into the holiday atmosphere. Don't worry if you don't want to get involved they will leave you alone as there are always plenty of people wanting to join in. There is also what i would class as a relax pool which is situated near the Tandoori pool bar and tends to be a bit quieter. The hotel has direct access onto the beach , complete with its own pier and bar. You are also able to become " A Sultan for the Day " by hiring one of the poolside or beach huts. Please , you must do this , total relaxation , with waiter service, drinks , lunch and cool towel service.
No need to bring your own towel's , you are supplied towel's at the beginning of your holiday and these can be renewed daily

Staff/ Guest Relations

We found all staff to be willing , helpful and polite. I was particularly impressed with the members of the guest relations team , all of whom seemed genuinely interested in your feedback. They , along with the management team , were highly visible around the hotel, were very approachable and often visited the A la carte's making sure eveything was ok . They also held weekly management cocktail parties to try and gauge your enjoyment and to ask for way's that they could improve their service. I have never experienced this level of staff/customer interaction and was very impressed.

Entertainment/Animation

The hotel has its own animation team who all deserve gold medals for commitment. As previously mentioned they work hard all day trying to get people involved , but if this is not for you , no problem , just sit back and enjoy. The team put on shows in the outside amphitheatre each night commencing about 21.30 and lasting for an hour or so. The shows are aimed mainly at the younger audience ( mini disco before show about 20.45 )and are of a good quality. We only watched a couple of times but were really impressed , the costumes for the Lion King were absolutely fantastic.
The hotel also puts on some great late night outdoor entertainment,Beach parties , Pier parties with Dj and great music , Ottaman nights with market stalls and camel rides , White Night ( best of all ) with lasers and live music , Pier parties with live musicians. Also at the " Tea Room " , a nice outdoor bar there is live music most nights

Bars/Drinks

Anyone who books this hotel i am sure will know that for the summer months it operates an UAI concept , that is 24 hrs drinks , some branded , and food available most of the time. The hotel has a number of bars , which we found good , as moving between different ones tended to break up the night. The Oasis is the main lounge bar , however waiter service here is a bit hit and miss. The" Tea Room " ( don't be misled by name ) was quite chilled with great service ( always felt compelled to leave a nice tip ) , Lobby bar , quite cosmopolitan , with a nice outside area. Our favouite bar however was the Panorama Bar , by far the coolest ( temp ) and never too busy. Could sit inside or outside , great service and best cocktails. Good choice of drinks , however to receive branded drinks you need to order by name . i.e Gordon's ,Johnnie Walker etc. They do not do Bailey's , but do a really nice Irish Cream which tasted just like Bailey's to me. The tonic mixer could be better.

Guests

As previously mentioned , British are not the majority nationality here
I would say that the majority of guests were German (40 % ) and Dutch (30 % ) with the remainder British and east european. This was not a problem , in fact quite the opposite , as these nations tour operators tend to insist on quite high standards which everyone benefits from. However there were enough English around to ensure that most young children made a friend or two

Summary

Having booked this hotel quite a bit in advance and getting what we thought to be a good deal , we were a little unsure about what to expect. This hotel totally exceeded our expectations. The general relaxed atmosphere , the quality of the food and the overall value for money meant that we had a really enjoyable family holiday, so much so that we have already booked for the Limak Atlantis in Belek for 2011. If this hotel is as good as the Limak Lara ( which i am sure it will be ) then i know we will be in for a great 2 weeks

I have tried my best to cover most area's that i feel people will want answers too , however if there are any specific question's that you would want answering , or you require some more specific details of any area's above , please feel free to contact me direct and i will do my best to answer them.

If you are a family with young , or teenage children and have booked or are considering booking this hotel , then i am sure that you will have a great holiday. Just remember to keep on appling the suncream , it get's really hot

All the Best

Pete
