“pleasantly impressed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

I read the reviews and was more than a bit worried when I went there for a conference. I am happy to say that during my 5 nights (six days) I found very little to complain about. I am surprised how many people said bad things about the staff as I was impressed with how friendly and hard working they were. Some reviewers did not like the lighting in the room, but I always judge a room by the reading light. In this case it was fine: I could read a book and switch off the light and many others right from my bed (TV was fine too but only 3-4 English channels and many more Turkish, German, and Russian channels). The beach was so nice that I only went to the pools to try the very nice water slides (in case I ever did bring the family -- very nice water slides for sure). The food was plentiful and varied so that it was always possible to find more than enough good food to eat. I was lacking enough self control to limit my dessert selections as there were always so many delicious ones to choose from. The cheeses, produce, and fresh breads were also excellent. It was not easy finding a table right away for dinner at the peak times, but the staff were very quick to clean up a table once open. If you put a cleaning card on your bed, the sheets were changed, and if you put your towels in the tub, they were changed also. If it weren't for two complaints, I would have rated the hotel a five: the wifi (free in one 24 hour lounge if you don't want to spend 15 euro for a week -- not expensive really) is tired and for some reason there were no ice machines at the drink fountains. I would love to relax at the beach with a cold drink without hurrying up to drink it before it got warm. Another strange thing was that the pool towel stand was closed from noon to 2 pm which is prime time for the pool. The price for the all-inclusive was very reasonable compared to what other Lara hotels charge (got a special conference rate). I wrote so much because of the bad reviews I had read prior to staying there.

If you like to have your travel money stolen from your room, hotel managers displaying pyhsical violence during interviews and finding the whole thing as a joke (smirking all the time), made to feel as it was your fault then go, if not stay away!

Shame really as the ground floor is immaculate and the food very good, rooms basic and not five star more a poor three star (cleanliness), bar staff, pool attendants etc etc very friendly shame about the hotel senior managers.

I would of rated the hotel a little better but for the experience, when something goes wrong they were far from professional .

PS the police were great- thank goodness

Dear Mr. David,

Firstly, thanks for choosing Kervansaray.

Every kinds of guest reviews and evaluations matter us vitally , if they are objective.
We're very sorry to state the fact that the mentioned review doesn't have any grain of truth.

Just a little information will proove our statement above:
On his accommodation dates, Mr. David consulted to the hotel represantative claiming that he left a great deal of money into the waste basket in the room and it was taken by cleaning team.
As hotel procedure, we suggest all the guests verbally and in the written way keeping their valuable articles in the safe boxes situated in each room. The Hotel Management can not be held responsable in case of the losts of the valuable articles or money left out of the safe boxes or left on the public areas. On our hotel concept, on the room directory and on the registration forms, it's written and defined clearly.

Despite all the infos given above, we can confidently assure that the hotel management paid an excessive attention to the guest warning and involved him closely during his vacation.

We'd like to fix again that as hotel management we are very sorry to see that kind of evaluation bringing our hotel under suspicion.

We kindly request all of Tripadvisor readers and holidaymakers to take notice of Hotel's Management Response and not to allow those types of one sided evaluations to influence their mind.

Kind regards,

Stayed at this "resort" for six nights because it was the host site for an International conference. The conference was great, but the hotel was sorely lacking on all levels. Check in was slow, only two people at the desk during mid afternoon and both spoke very little English. Both were very rude. No free Internet in rooms. internet was available in a "cafe" but it was so slow that doing work was not feasible. Room was very dirty. I have photo if you are interested. Bath soap was not sealed and after a little test were I marked a soap discovered they reuse the small soaps daily. Used coffee cups was left unclean and tub was not properly rinsed. Hand prints were on the door from the previous guest. On a p,us, no bed bugs ( I checked very carefully)! Food buffet and okay, but not great. Beach area was small, but nice, as were the pools. The spa was the only highlight. Very clean and refreshing. Lighting in the lobby was nonexistent except for the colored mood lights shown in their promotional material. After a huge rain storm one night, water broke through the ceiling in the lobby creating a waterfall! Do not stay at this "resort.",

Room Tip: Go elsewhere.

Dear Agwel,

First of all, we would like to thank you for leaving your opinions here.

We would like to notice that we offer solutions for any problems or demands transmitted us in accordance with our hotel concept and with pleasure.

By your leave, we want to inform you about our cleaning routine.
Our rooms are daily cleaned by our room maids, checked by Floor Supervisors and current status of the room is reported the by Supervisor to Management Team. We’d like to mention that there is not any registration about a cleaning defect or request in our system records on your accommodation dates.

Public areas are also daily cleaned and reported to the Management.

On the other hand, our beach is approximately 200 m long and 4 pools open to each of our guests' service.
With reference to your mention about inexistence of free internet and existence of colorful lobby lightening, we'd like to kindly inform you that those are the main parts of our hotel concept, and all of those informations about the hotel design and consept are existing in the travel agencies we cooperated with.

Additionally and finally we'd like to underline the fact that as you defined in your review "a huge rain storm" is a fact of nature and can not be kept under control by the hand of man. Leaving a waterfall impression of a probable water leak is very regretful for us and so, we would like to assure you that we've taken in consideration all of the impressions you shared here, precisely and with pleasure.

Many thanks again for sparing time evaluating our hotel.

We hope to welcome you again and to present you better vacation memories and impressions.

Kindest regards,

Having read the bad reviews on this hotel, to say I was apprehensive was an understatement. I need not have worried, my husband and I had a fantastic holiday. The reception was busy on our arrival but we were directed to one of the many bar/lounges by the receptionist. Within 15 minutes she came to the bar with our welcome pack and the key to our room. We found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Yes, some of them are unable to speak English, but we don't speak Turkish and we were always able to make ourselves understood. Brits were in the minority but it was great to mix with the various nationalities, you can learn so much about their culture. The hotel was very clean and the staff are continuously mopping and sweeping. The food was excellent and we enjoyed trying the different cuisines. Our room was larger than expected with fluffy bathrobes and slippers provided. Although we did not partake in the various activities ( we are quite old!!) the animation team ensured that all who we're willing had a great time and they produced some great shows in the evening. Overall we had a great time and would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We were on the top floor over looking the relax pool. We had great views of the sea and the mountain...

Me and my 3 friends visited The Kervansaray Lara Hotel last month, and we had the most amazing time.

When we first arrived we was shocked about the size of the hotel, but once you have been there a few days you find your way around very easily, the rooms were cleaned every day and there were very spacious.

The buffet food was nice, but very repetitive. Unfortunately we wouldn’t recommend the À la carte. We was there for 10 days you was only allowed to go to one of the three À la carte’s once which we couldn’t understand because if you was there for a week you can go once and if you are there for two weeks you can go twice, but 10 days once. But it wasn’t enjoyable so we wasn’t bothered.

As for the animation team, well without them the hotel would suffer for things to do. Every day they played games for adults and kids, they also had a kids club and it was lovely to see that the animation team actually seemed to enjoy spending time with the holidayers. They would always come over to us, sit and chat and made us feel very welcome. We as a group range from the age of 25-29 and the night entertainment was FANTASTIC, cannot be faulted at all. There was a lively kids disco until 9pm, then either a pool party, beach party, show, or as a group we would be taken to a local night club out of the resort and made to feel safe. As for the resorts nightclub, normally these are pretty boring, but this was one fantastic, every night it was busy, people dancing, drinking and even the bar staff were entertaining. DJ played excellent music. Everything about the animation team and the entertainment is faultless. I can strongly recommend that if you have young children, then this hotel is fantastic, and if you are looking for a party resort then this is the place, even if you are looking for a quieter holiday, this is the place. They accommodate for everyone.

You would be mad to miss out seeing the Animation team!!!

GET TO KERVANSARAY LARA HOTEL!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: There are 9 floors!!! You dont want to be all the way up there!!!

Me and my friend have just returned from a week at this hotel.. great holiday!! The hotel is lovely & big. It has 3 great swimming pools! Lots of bars and plenty of choice at meal times, with themed nights! The rooms are fine, nice modern touch, lighting is a bit dodgy when trying to get ready but manageable and would recommend taking your own hair dryer as not very powerful! House keeping daily and mini fridge restocked daily! Hotel location is good, on the beach and shops to walk to just outside the hotel. Hotel is about 30/40 min bus journey to Antalya centre though! transfer time is great, literally 15 mins away from airport! Hotel rep great, very knowledgeable, great help! Turkish bath trip was good & reasonably priced! All staff are friendly, especially the animation team!! they are great fun, lots of activities going on throughout the day and good shows at night! They put a lot of effort in, they are all lovely and great fun! The beach party was great fun last week!!! Would deffo recommend this hotel & going in September was lovely as was less busy but still hot and all the entertainment was still going on! Hotel is great for a quick weeks get away & was plenty for me and my friend to do! Wish I was still there! Fab holiday!! Would deffo return!
