“Ultimate scape from reality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

We've just come back from Antalya, been there for 2 weeks. Great hotel with a few drawbacks, starting with the good points;

1- staff, unbelievably friendly and helpful, except one reception guy!
2- Hotel Area, Big and beautiful, well maintained and clean all the time
3- 6 pools! Yes there's always one for you! 2 for kids, 2 for every one, 1 Adults only and one relax pool
4- beautiful Sandy beach, most Antalya's hotel don't have sandy beach, I guess it's only Lara area that has golden sandy beach

And here are a few negatives;

1-lifts, Hopeless!! There are only 3 lifts for 500 rooms! Every time you have to wait 15min to get up or down
2- Stairs, And don't even think of using the stairs instead, very dangerous and just designed to look pretty, not functional.
3- Paper thin walls, like almost all other hotels, you can hear when people breathing in next room.
4- internet, only available at the reception area, not even lobby! Not very 5 starish!

And 2 more points which I was not sure if they are good or bad, depends to your point of view,

1- Excellent Food, I know it sounds like a good thing, but not when you are back with 2 stones extra weight! Restaurant serves food till 6am!!! Crazy!!

2- it's full of British, unlike other resorts which are dominated by Russians and Germans, this one was surprisingly full of Brits. So don't hope to see many new faces, it's like heading to Brighton!

But overall we enjoyed our stay and for sure will be going back again

Room Tip: Lower floor to avoid useing lifts!

Dear Alireza S,

It's been very thoughtful of you to share with us. Don't worry about holiday weight. You get over it immediately you go back home:) İnternet access has already been polished. You can have it both at the lobby and by the reception too.It is sad that one person has been spotted bad. Would you please let us know who it is on guestrelation@sherwoodresort.com.tr as 'one frog shouldn't spoil the whole water'

See you soon.

Just return from 7 Days at the Sherwood Breezes Resort, Lara Beach,Turkey, this hotels rates it self as a 5 star Hotel, Sorry it should not be rated this high, it should be in the region of a 3+ to a 4 star,
Room cleansiness was appalling the room was not brushed once when we were there from the first day to the last a clump of hair was on the balcony without being cleaned, the bed was made on a daily basis but sheets were not changed daily, the hotel looked clean but when you looked closely at things on some seats in the reception area had chewy under the arm rests, which was not very nice when the temperatures hit the high 40's,
On the plus side the food was not too bad a good selection, there was always something on all day, from the beach resteraunt which served burgers, pizzas, etc during the afternoon, jacket potatoes were served, from 11pm to 6am the resteraunt served snacks
Ice cream and a good selection of cakes were served between 11am to 5pm at the sherwood's bar.
The bars were very good, the Tower bar was open 24hrs, so can not complain about that?
On the whole it was not a disaster but the 5 star rating was a NO NO?
Animation team were very good, always around helping the guest's plenty for children too do,
But as i said earlier the claenliness of the hotel left a lot to be desired.

Room Tip: do not get a room on the 9th floor, view out to sea and coast good, you have to stand on the balcony...

my second trip to sherwood breeze as i loved it that much, hotel itself is amazing however, we were not greeted very nicely on arrival staff were very miserable, staff on the beach bar never spoke or even tried to communicate with you they just served you your drink without even trying to make a conversation with you. on my first day i had an allergic reaction where my head and eyes swelled up, my boyfriend went to reception and was told there was no doctor available until 9am, he was not advised by staff anywere else we could go they just said there was not doctor in hotel so he had to take it upon himself to find a chemist which luckily was just over the street who then called for a doctor straight away for me. The food was also a let down on the second time, the resturant on the beach should have stayed to a help yourself buffett instead of getting waited on as they seemed to take ages to come see you even if they were not busy. Luckily we met a lovely english couple who made our last few days abit more enjoyable. Overall the hotel itself is beautiful its just my experience was a let down!!!!

Room Tip: high floor, sea view is the best otherwise if you go to bed before 1pm you will not get to sleep!!!!

Dear stefg2010,

What a pity that you had an allergy. Well, the lady at the Guest Relations tried to help but you chose to see the pharmacist.
We are always very willing to help whenever need be.The Doctor is available 24 hours and the nurse is in from 09.00am.
We wish you a quick recovery and next time we won't miss you out.

Personally, what we tried and experienced was great. Enjoyed the food we sampled - Italian was the best for us - Traditional Turkish was good but too much (don't bother with the first starter that arrives before you actually place your order). Main Restaurant and all the others also good (choose Sardis wine not the other with your meals). Pools good but the pool toliets were not up to scratch. DON'T BOTHER PAYING FOR EXTENDING YOUR ROOM ON YOUR LAST DAY JUST USE THE SPA FACILITIES. Turkish Bath, Sauna, steam room, showers and hair dryers provided. Sherwood Breezes is officially a 4* hotel and meets this standard and is friendly. Everything is priced in Euros and they will accept and currency.

Just came back today from 2 weeks in the sherwood with my husband and 10 year old son. A fantastic place to go with plenty of activities to keep you busy.. especially SUPER DAVID!! he was friendly and my son was King of Sherwood in Darts. David made sure my son had a certificate which he thought was amazing :)
The Entertainment staff, especially Sadel and Tito made everyday different and fun and were a joy to watch. they all work sooooooo hard and make the hotel what it is.
On the other hand the reception staff are not so friendly. We had to check out of our room at 12 noon and was not flying until 03.45am. as you can imagine my son was shattered and lay on the sofa and fell asleep. when we got up for a drink he was woken up and told to get up on 2 occassion!! which we were not happy with. there was no late check out available so what do the hotel expect you to do?? i think you should be allowed your room until your due to be collected to go home even if we have to pay for it.
Food was good, alitle repetative after 8 days but you wouldnt got hungry. i still think it caters more for the germans food wise anyway. I loved the pasta section where they would cook what you chose :)
all in all i could go on because the list of good points are endless. another downside was the pool area toilet floor was always wet as you can expect but it was very dnagerous and i nearly fell on many occasions. maybe so non slip mats could go in there.
Pool areas were excellant, always clean. My son was gutted the slide were only open prt of the day. 10-12.30 and 1.30 until 4pm.

Would defo recommend and will defo go back in ayear or two.
Thank You Sherwood Team for a fab holiday.x

Dear Danielle C,

Your review has been a nice one.. We now have a lady specifically working there to make sure the wet floor is being taken care of. Slip mats may not be very hygenic but we could think of other methods.
Other than the German guests in the hotel, many other nationalities making holiday have no problem with the food hence maybe we wouldn't say it is more of German or English buffet but rather call it international & Turkish buffet .

We will be very glad to see you again.

Have a wonderful day.

We arrived at the hotel at 2am and was greeted with a friendly welcome by reception who offered us snacks & drinks. We made our way to our very clean and nicely furnished room with a lovely sea view. The only negative I would say is that the bathroom is outdated and needs refurbishing but the rest of the room is very pleasant with a balcony (I think all the rooms have a balcony).

This hotel really try and look after you and there is the option of breakfast (served until 10am where tea & coffee is offered and tables are set) or you can have a late breakfast if you wish from 10-11am. We found no problem with the variety of food offered.

The gardens and pool are extremely well kept and clean and if you struggle to find a sun lounger by the pool, you can head to the private beach where there are more sun loungers and sun beds on the pier which overlooks the mountains. If you really want to indulge, you can pay EUR50 to hire a private beach hut (9am - 6pm) and this includes fruits and sparkling grape juice which is all set up in your hut for when you arrive. There are various activities throughout the day including belly dancing, aerobics, archery, and games.

From 11am - 4pm, you can enjoy tea in the outdoor teahouse where there are waffles and flatbread on offer, there is also a patisserie and doughnuts and lots of other calorific delights :-)

If you fancy heading out of the hotel, there is either a shutte bus you can get from the hotel which takes you to Terracity which is an upmarket shopping centre or there is a bus stop across the road where a bus will take you there for 2 lira, it will also take you to the old town (LC38) and the journey takes about 35mins (there is also a lovely cafe in the old town called Vanilla Lounge, the food is delicious!).

If you just want to stay in the hotel, there are the activities mentioned before and also watersports on the private beach (chargeable). There is evening entertainment as well which includes a different show each night in the ampitheatre, live music at the aqua bar, or you can enjoy the 24hr tower bar. Our minibar was also stocked daily.

The buffet restaurant did get busy in the evening and you do have to find your own table but we never had a problem and the staff where there almost straight away to take your drinks order. You can also enjoy a meal in the Al a Carte Italian restaurant (very nice) and the Turkish restaurant (highly recommended), both need to be booked through guest relations.

We found the staff to be very friendly and despite previous comments about the hotel been mainly German, we found there to be a lot of English! Every where we sat there were English families and couples next to us, I also learnt a bit of colloquial Turkish based on previous reviews but most of the staff spoke good English anyway.

To summarise, this hotel is lovely and they really do try to make your stay a pleasant and enjoyable one so I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
