Owner description: Approximately 34 kilometers northwest of Antalya lies Termessos and the beautiful Güllük Dagi National Park. The ancient Psidian city is built on a mountain platform, surrounded by pine woods and an abundance of rare plants. It’s one of the best preserved historical sites of Turkey and, due to its isolated location, an oasis of calm and tranquility.

“Outstanding, but you need to work.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

Outstanding site at the top of the mountain. 9k drive up a winding mountain road and then 3k walk up to and through the ruins. The site is extensive and stands as one of the places that Alexander refused to conquor. However, visiting Antalya and not taking the time out to visit this incredible archaeological site would be a mistake.

“Termessos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

It's probably the best ancient site in Antalya. However, the climb is not for the elderly, weak or disabled, which is a shame. I think everyone who comes to Antalya should see this site.

“Beautiful, interesting site”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

This is a spectacular Roman ruin site. It's more distant/remote location likely is the reason that is not developed and over run with tourists. The bus ride (from the port area) takes 3/4 hours and there is a ride from the park entrance up to the parking lot that provides beautiful views. You then climb up a trail (slippery when wet) about 700ft to a combination of different attractions. The necropolis is a lovely area, but the last climb to the amphitheatre is the spectacular part. This theatre is perched on the edge of a mountain side, with spectacular views. Well worth the climb!

“Be Prepared to Hike!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

The ruins of Termessos are in Termessos National Park. It's a pretty windy drive up to where you can go see the ruins. Visit the bathrooms before you start your hike up. It is about a 2300 foot hike up the mountain, not even terrain, part of the hike is climbing over rocks and stone. Wear good walking or hiking shoes! I can't emphasize this enough! I had to rest several times on the hike up. Eventually you make it to the top. These are unexcavated ruins. There was an indoor theater, an outdoor theater, water cisterns, etc. It's actually pretty peaceful once you make it to the top. We had a very knowledgeable tour guide, so it made the visit more interesting (as opposed to going on your own). The hike down the mountain isn't too much easier than the hike up. Must watch your step going down as it is pretty uneven terrain and can be a bit slippery. A fairly strenuous hike up and down, but worth it if you are there on a nice day.

Up in the mountains, peaceful and beautiful surrounds, this ruined city is impeccable in it's decay and beauty
