“Walking with the Gods....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

Its is one those surprising moment..an archaeological museum that actually does leave you jaw dropped and stunned. Whatever you do in Antalya you must go here...

Located at the end of the tramway you enter the early halls that provide the context and some interesting artefacts. The you walk through the monumental sculptures..huge standing statues of Herakles, Artemis and the detail is astonishing, beautifully folded and flowing clothes, stunning hairstyles and serene faces. You do get a sense of Monumental Rome and Greece..amazingly these statues don't bore, they live and breathe and seem to watch you. The Museum gets better with its ethnographic section. There is a good bookshop and care but don't forget to walk in the gardens too...

A really excellent museum with also the friendliest staff I have ever come across. Truly 5 stars...

“Very interesting museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

Very interesting museum to visit before or after you go to one of the ancient sites. Especially, the sarcofags collection and Perge statues are stunningly beautiful.

“One of the best (if not the best) Archaeological Museums”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

You have to be well into Archeology (as I am), and if you do, you will certainly enjoy the Archaeological Museum of Antalya. Beside, it is centrally located nearby the city center, so no excuses at all. Either by foot or by taxi (well…by foot in case you don't mind the forty-five minutes walk), it is worth the visit. I admit that I am crazy about it, and that is why I had a blast! One day wasn't enough for me, but unfortunately I didn't have and extra day to re-visit it. Well done the fact that the Museum took the trouble to translate every piece of information, every interesting fact about the many pieces of ancient art…into English. Besides, it is all nicely explained and well displayed, making it crystal clear even for the non-experts. I truly enjoyed my five hours visit to this phenomenal Museum, and it was the best fifteen Turkish lira I spent in Turkey. As an advice, I would recommend to visit the city of Perga and Aspendos first (if possible), and after, the Archeology Museum (it is a good and proper background to get familiar with all the art displayed at the Museum). Overall, great place!

“Surprisingly good place”

This didn't look like much from the outside, but the quantity and quality of artefacts was amazing!
We had two 7yr old boys with us and even they enjoyed it!

“Wonderful museum, one of the best anywhere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

Marvellous museum, superbly displayed, good explanations in English. I loved the biogs of the archaeologists, and wonderful sarchofogi rescued from illegal exporters.
Use the Old Tram to get there, it's a long walk from the old town.
