Reviewed March 29, 2013 NEW
We were in this hotel in nov 2011. We were unhappy with some thighs put as the hotel was close for a refub we would give it another try to see if any improvement have been done. as Baia Lara were showing on their Facebook site, grand-opening on the 15 march 2013.
I stay in this hotel the Baia Lara with my wife on the 22 march 2013 for 7 days. most of the hotel was close for winter, going out to the pools only to fine the main pool was empty.........yes no water in the pool, over the first 4 days of are holiday they were filling the pool up and we were not allowed to sunbath near the pool so the only place to sunbath was by the heated pool which got full early as you can only get about 30 sunbeds round the pool
the main bar in hotel which I would say has had a face-lift not a refub . This does look better with new table and chairs and a new carpet which does make the bar much brighter and the service by the staff was excellent. Now that they have some imported drinks as part of the ultra all inclusive the drinks are much better but some of the local drinks are poor (ie) Rosa wine etc etc undrinkable,on saying that it is down to personal taste. i would also say that there are a number of imported drinks that you must pay for which i feel is wrong. if a hotel has imported drinks then all imported drinks should be part of ultra all inclusive not just some.
The new Bidon bar is in the games room and this were the singers were performing live of a night so you could have a dance. This is were we had our cocktails which were very good. The only concern for me it could be very busy in the summer as it not a huge bar.
The dinning hall, this was a let down for us,because we came in the winter concept this was the only dinning hall open, there was no Alc open so going in the same dinning area every night the food got very repetitive and the hot dishes were Luke warm at best and most of the food had spices added,on saying this it now goes into the summer concept so all the Alc will be open and all outside dinning areas will be open so I don't think this will be a problem as there will be a lot more chooses to be had.
The bedrooms. We were in room 3311which was a side sea view, this is one of the best rooms we have stayed in Lara as we have stayed in The Royal Wings,The Barut and The Barut Hemera in Side, the room was very big,two single beds, table and two chairs, mini bar restocked daily,32inch TV on wall with DVD player, kettle, cups, coffee, tea, suger etc etc,the safe which is free was big enough to hold two iPads and all personal items and still have space, wardrobes have plenty of hangers,we had 12,two big draws in the wardrobe and we had two bedside cabinets which had draws as well these were nice and deep. The bathroom was nice and big, full size bath with shower plenty of toiletries for your use which were replaced daily, there is also a hair dyer.
The guest relations is now down by the main Lush bar/main bar were all the shops are,and the new patisserie is now just outside to the left as you go towards the pools, this is very good for your cakes/sandwiches etc.
The pools. There is a heated outdoor pool to the right as you go out, this will go to over 16+in the summer time, the main pool is right in front of you as you walk out of the main bar to the grounds.
The entertainment team , we didn't join in with the games so unable to past comment on them.
Going out of the hotel. This was disappointing for us as all the new footpaths where dirty and full of holes were they had been dug up and not replaced, there is a lot of work going on across the road from the hotels so there is a lot of dust in the air.
We would come back to this hotel in the summer but not in the winter due to most of the hotel being closed unless they change their winter concept and open some of their Alcs, like they did at the Royal Wings and The Barut Lara when we were there in winter time.
Room Tip: We stayed in room 3311 and we got the sun in the afternoon so it was nice sitting out on the balcony...
