“Excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2012

We went to the Mardan Palace for the New Year. Althought the hotel was very crowded, the service was super. First of all we checked-in the comfy sofas and offered drinks. Then we were taken to a spacious room with a large balcony. İt wasn't a suit, but in most of the hotels it is. The view was the largest pool in Europe with Kizkulesi(Maiden Tower) in it as a restaurant. There was free wifi inthe room too. The room was clean and tidy. The curtains, bed linens, towels are of good choice. İn the restaurant there was a variety of delicious food. The stuff was very friendly too. They were all smiling. The garden is very big with wide range of plants. I am really shocked about the bad comments. Where do these people live, in a Palace? Even if so it is same as Dolmabahce Palace. People shouldnt write bad comments to upgrade their rooms.

The hotels on the drive to this hotel are fascinating and all pretty large. Then you pull up to Mardan Palace and realize that you're not in Kansas anymore. The property is magnificent and worth whatever they're charging. Check-in was done from a sofa and we were walked by a staff person to wherever we were asking about. Considering the size of the place, all of the restaurants were much better than expected. The buffet was, as we told our friends, like five star food in a buffet setting.

The only drawback was, from a westerner's standpoint, the gregarious behavior of the guests coming from behind the former Iron Curtain. There is a rule that trousers and collared shirts should be worn at dinner unless of course you happen to be an oil magnate with a prize wife, in which case you are welcome in a soccer/football jersey, shorts and flip flops. And, feel free to speak loudly on your mobile phone for everyone to hear. A small price to pay to have had the pleasure to stay here.

Room Tip: The Ottoman rooms in the Anatolia wing are worth the upgrade; makes you feel like your're in Tur...

I stayed two times at Mardan Palace and never had any simple bad experience. I would like to repeat again , do not worry about your stay . Dont believe the bad comments , if hotel is not at the city center , if taxi fee is expensive it doesnt mean that hotel is bad, If the drinks and extras are more expensive than others PLS NOTE THAT MARDAN PALACE IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT THAN OTHER HOTELS , quality , service , pool , staff everything is different. You can not buy the quality cheaper rates ..
I love to stay at this hotel

utterly maginficient property set in a grand bygone era grandeur and style and wonderfully complimented by modern day facilities, and staff who cant do enough for you especially in restaurants.
however it lacks the total luxury/ultimate experience it claims to be
we chose the full board option which i recommend strongly as food and drink prices are not for fainthearted (a glass of beer for euro 8)
the food although good was nothing special and after few days got very very repetetive
no prime cuts or prawns or fish on offer which is strange given its on seaside
the property isquiet isolated as its the last one on a long stretch where are top hotels are located, hence getting to and back from restaurants/bars etc is expensive
the hotel does not provide a shuttle to town which is quiet ridiculous as all others do provide this service
there is no entertainment program of any description so families with children please note
overall brilliant but could be purfect.

I had a terrible experience and chances are you will as well. The low level staff, i.e. bell hops, bar tenders, etc were great; however, the management is a DISASTER - actually, they're crooks.

Long story short - after experiencing terrible internet service in my room and being told to use the business center (a city block away) for internet and then after returning from the beach covered in sand and salt and having NO HOT WATER in my room - my experience within the first hour - I told the manger I wanted to leave. He insisted I stay because he "did not want me to leave unhappy" and he offered me an new upgraded room and said the room would free. I made absolutely sure we understood each other that he was saying the room was free. I clarified we would only have to pay for other services such as food and bar and he said yes - there was NO mistaking the terms of the offer/deal. FYI - in my new room the AC didn't work when we arrived and had to be repaired and later a fuse blew and all the power in the room went out.

As you might guess, at check out they tried to charge us for the room!!! Liars! I was furious. They tried to say it was a "misunderstanding" - but I asked, "who would misunderstand the terms of the agreement made in English? The native English speaker or the Turkish manager?" Regardless, they insisted the fault was mine and I refused to sign the credit card receipts and called American Express while standing at the counter. Thank goodness for AMEX, it's currently in dispute resolution.

Point is, there are plenty of nice places in Antalya (although Bodrum or Izmir might be better depending on what you're looking for) BUT please DO NOT STAY AT MARDAN RIP OFF - you'll thank me!!!

On receiving an email offer from Secret Escapes for this hotel on a full board plus basis we procrastinated and let the offer expire however a few days later I searched for other companies that may have the Mardan Palace on offer and found similar offer pricing at www.airflights.co.uk and others. Pricing was listed for ‘Full Board’ not ‘Full Board Plus’ so I called the company to clarify. They said that they did not know anything about the Plus so I contacted the hotel who were really helpful and replied as follows: -
“We offer all the agencies the Full Board Plus concept, so they just have not added a plus at the end. Full Board plus concept means included breakfast, lunch (Main and Italian restaurants) and dinner open buffet in the main restaurant. Unlimited non-alcoholic and local alcoholic drinks are included just with meals. When guests just arrive they get free water to the room, every day free water while turn - down service, every day fruit plate to the room, free water when guests just arrive to the pool or beach area. At 11.00- free Ayran service, 14.00- free lemonade service, 16.00- free fruit service at the pool and beach area. All bars and other a la carte restaurants are chargeable.”

So we booked a week Full Board (Plus) in a Superior Room for 2 persons including flights, baggage and private transfers at £900.00 per person. Before we travelled Guest Relations agreed to a late check out and free lunch on last day.

On arrival the reception area is very impressive and the staff were very welcoming.
Even though the room was exactly like the photos I expected a bit more so was a little disappointed at first. However on reflection it was very nice and the maid did an excellent job twice per day.

The resort facilities are fabulous and the staff were all excellent. We watched 2 films in the hotel cinema on our own, the Ten Pin Bowling and Jazz bar area are beautifully designed and the pool and beach areas are very comfortable with great pool boy and plenty of towels.

The Spa and Wellness center is 7500m2, divided in 3:
1. Free zone with several saunas, steam baths, Turkish bath, several relaxing rooms, indoor pool and fitness;
2. One zone is for chargeable treatments, massages, Thalasso and Beauty center and
3. One VIP zone with private Suites for rental.

The food in the main restaurant was consistently good with plenty of choice (English guests may miss their pork sausages, bacon and baked beans for breakfast). Lunch in the Italian restaurant (Free on Full Board) was excellent and it was nice to have waiter service. The waiters in the main restaurant seemed to have their blinkers on for 2 mornings where they completely ignored us and had to be asked for water, coffee, table clearing etc. - otherwise they were very good. Having previously read of the extortionate pricing for food and beverages at the hotel I was surprised to find pricing on a par with most 5 star resorts while the Full Board Plus concept would satisfy most people in that they need not spend another penny over the prepaid cost.

While we were there the hotel was fairly full with conferences and wedding parties but we only met 5 or so British couples while the majority of guests seemed to be Russian with a few Turkish and German guests. I was told that sometimes the hotel only has 20% occupancy.

After the Laser show one night (seating is on the grass) it went completely dark and my wife fell over the raised curb while walking toward the path. She twisted her ankle and wrist, bruised her knee and just saved herself from falling flat on her face. The excellent Guest Relations Staff ordered some ice to the room and called the nurse to reception who applied some gel and bandages. Unfortunately this hampered swimming and other excercise and was painful for a couple of days.

Overall we enjoyed our week at Mardan Palace and the facilities were good enough that a couple of stormy days did not spoil things.

Room Tip: If you want to use the Spa a lot the Anatolian Wing is above the spa so you can just take the lift i...

We have stayed in this hotel for one week and it was wonderful. It is real luxury hotel that 2000kg gold is used in it!
Reception & Staff: The staff are so friendly and no request is too much for them. Also the reception people are the same. Only some of the staff should improve their English.
Room: We were in superior room in 3rd floor which was 45 m2 and it is quiet ok for 3 person.
There is also a balcony with a partial view to the sea.Bathroom is really nice with Hermes amenities.
Restaurant: Breakfast is really complete and it can fulfill any type of interest.
We have booked hotel as full board. For lunch the buffet and also the Italian restaurant in the middle of the pool is prepared for full board guests. The Italian restaurant is really nice with very good view and simple menu which is ok. Specially the sea bass is really good.
You can drink local beer or wine ( white & rose & red ) along your food as free
All the metallic items in the restaurant are made by silver and all the dishes in Italian restaurant are from Hermes.
During the dinner also there is live music in buffet restaurant.
We have not tried any other restaurant in the hotel but they are so expensive.
Pool: It is more like a lake than a pool! It is really the best pool which I have seen in any hotel.
There is very nice pool bar and also plenty of sun beds & umbrella.
Spa: 7,500 m2 spa with different type of therapies and snow room! We have tried aromatherapy and it was really good.
Night entertainment: This is the really weak point of the hotel which should be improve. Every night after the dinner time there is a water laser show and after that about one hour show. Laser show is nice but the other shows should improve.
Shopping: It is so far if you plan to go out of hotel by walk to reach any shop or restaurant. So taxi is necessary to go out. There is a good shopping mall ( Tera city ) and the cost of taxi in one way from hotel is 40 TL.
