“Not as bad as others are saying!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

Just stayed 2 weeks at the gold safran. I found it to be clean and the staff very helpful. Initially our air con did not work. As it was a Sunday and no repair men were available they supplied us with a fan until they fixed it. I found all the staff helpful and all smiled. You have to admire them, they do work long hours!!

I loved the food the 1st week however found it really repetitive the 2nd week and chose to eat out more. Go to melani's around the corner, best burger ever. You get a good sausage sandwich at the restaurant next door too!!

Pinocchio the entertainment staff did work hard, however spat his dummy out if guests did not participate in the entertainment. He also arranges transport and entry into Robin Hood nightclub for 10TL. I will say however, on one occasion he took us, he bought myself and friend a shot of tequila. My friend does not take shots, and told him prior to him buying them. When I friend refused his drink, he did go slightly mad, becoming verbally aggressive. Resulting in my friend and I leaving and getting a taxi back to the hotel.

I liked Oba itself, and spent most evening in valentino's bar and restaurant just along the road. The staff were amazing there and always made us feel welcome!!

Overall if I was to return to Alanya, I would stay in this hotel again. It was clean and efficient. You only get back from the staff what you put in as with anywhere.

We are a family of 5 with small children and constantly feared for there safety throughout our 2 week holiday. We booked privite transfers which took 2 hrs otherwise would have been 4 hrs on coach transfer, driving and roads had us all fearing for our lifes before we even reached the accomodation. On arrival rooms very basic. The additional bed we had for our daughter was broken(spars) and matress. The socket holding the 4 plugs for the tv, fridge etc was so overloaded it was hanging out the wall which meant the fridge hardly worked. Also the fridge and air con was only on when the activating card was inserted into the door. Our initial observations were very basic but good value for money we didnt go out with expectaions that were unfitting. We didnt go out expecting british cuisine however even if the food had been labeled would have been an improvement. We all tried different foods over the first few days but all became very very ill.Food was luke warm on good days but mostly feezing cold.Chips for breakfast!!!.We had been made aware of female whos activity and PHOTOGRAPY around children was very strange and suspisious. We and another 5 familys continued our observations until its reached a climax and we all thought enough was enough and alerted the MANAGEMENT!!! of the hotel. It was treated very dismissively. On our insistance the police were called,On inspecting her camera all images taken over the previous days had dissapeared, and i mean All not even a snap of herself ,also she acted confused by the alligations and didnt understand because she said she spoke NO english, although the children were all approached in english when the woman was offering to get them sweets. However because there was no physical evidence nothing was done. The rep was called after we got nowhere with the hotel management and again just excuse after excuse. As you can imagine ther rest of all the familys time was very restless and on edge.WATERSLIDE was a danger, comming apart at the seams, sharp ridges sticking up resulting in riped swimwear and cuts.Weather was in 30s however did rain all day once, there was nothing for the children to do indoors at all.The play area to the side of the main area where it All happens at night was a disgrace and its only fit purpose which i witness was a toilet for the many cats around. You were allowed 2 drinks pp which is more than enough and being responsible for children you dont go on holiday to get drunk especially with all that had happened, however we did meet a few lovely familys and we all sat beside one another in the evening the resturant manager however loitered around our table and questioned the number of drinks although we had less the one drink pp there and most of them were soft drinks. All i can say is never never again and i urge if you take your family safety them do look at another hotel,Also our return transfer that was paid for in advance was questioned when we reached Antalya airport resulting in the driver keeping hold of us until eventually got sorted but resulted in us being the last to check in for the flight leaving us 30mins before departure. Area was lovely and would return to Turkey but defo not HERE.

yes its not a 4 star compared to where my family has been , my brother is there at the moment, said its fine and you get what you pay for, says there friendly and rooms are clean and pool is cleaned every day , loads of food and were going out to meet them later this week , but what makes me laugh is the review below saying how bad it is, and i have just found another review almost about another hotel and a different date , even the word false is spelt wrong twice on both reviews spelling it (faulse) dont get me wrong but have heard all about hotels doing reviews about other hotels so many times , so i will give an honest review when i get back and so will my brothers family, and people when you go abroad DONT EXPECT FOOD LIKE AT HOME !!! ITS A DIFFERNT COUNTRY OK !!!! if u only like english food then stay in the uk ,, i will update my review when i get home, ive been to good and bad places and am always honest, UPDATE ! been on the phone to my brother , yes there was trouble but it was because the woman was steaming drunk and attacked the barman because he said she couldnt have 4 drinks , and that was from 4 different families telling him that , cant wait to go now lol

This was our first trip to Turkey, and certainly our last, we travelled as a family of 7 consisting of myself, my partner, 5 children ages 16 down to 5, we went to this hotel in August 2012 for 2 weeks all inclusive & paid nearly £4000, when we booked we requested 2 joining rooms of course being a family of 7 with small children this was a paramount to us to ensure our childrens safety. On arriving early hours of a sat morn, after a long 3 & a half hour transfer, which should have been a 2 hour 10mins according to our transfer sheet. Once we finally landed at reception to hand in our accom voucher which stated 2 joining rooms, we was given 2 rooms, 1 on the 3rd floor & 1 on the 5th floor, of course we raised the concern with the reception staff who shrugged their shoulders & said their wasnt anything they could do, and if we came down to the reception the following morn then may be a change of room. So this meant 1 adult in 1 room and 1 in the other, great start to our family holiday, this went of for 3 days/nights constantly going to reception to ask for what we had booked, and still being fobbed off !!! eventually on the 4th day we got a room on the same floor but opposite sides so was still not good enough, the manager said it wasnt his problem & we was very lucky to be moved. The 4 days whilst we had already been at the hotel, we had seen far more than we bargained for, health & safety risks around the pool area & slide, very dated slide with hazards, screws missing parts coming away, the joints of the slide seperated which at times nipped your skin or tore your swimwear, children ended up with several scratches & cuts, steps not secure. very dirty pool never cleaned, slide was turned off for most of the day to play adult games, why children sat & had to watch for hours on end, again something else we went to management about, again no surprise nothing done, when the slide was on for 15 mins intervals, around 5 times out of the full day, they would play darts comp, putting the board at the side of the slide where kids have to walk past to get to the slide why adults & kids are throwing darts !!! where is the safety in that all it took was for one to miss the board & hit the kid walking past, again when brought up nothing done & they continued to play.. staff very rood not helpful at all none of them. 1 member of staff touching up,1 of our female teenage daughters, asking her to meet him behind public toilets, not good at all, management said its only staff being friendly !!! entertainment appauling, show for kids was like a dirty carry on film showing entertainers if thats what you can call them, indicating sexual acts under the covers making noises that kids should not be hearing & certainly not what we want our children to be seeing either, 1 staff poured a drink over 1 of our children, another row with management. all drinks very limited even soft drinks, & all watered down. food even worse we lived on bread & cucumber could not afford to eat out all the time although had to on some occassions. many visitors got sickness bug from food or drink, even snack meals same everyday no change, evening meals never any meat, everything in sauces & all mainly pasta dishes. rooms very dated, slippy floors dirty fungus showers, broken tiles, sharp edges on tiles into shower 1 of our children slipped & had a nasty cut on his back which needed butterfly stitches. finally the icing on the cake for us the bar attendant attacked a female guest on our 7th night, a scuffle broke out as the womans family went to help her, her husband was very small german gentleman very angry his wife had been pushed in the face to the ground by this bar man & then bar man went to attack her husband & pulled out a knife which was witnessed by many of the guests one of small children was right at the front of all this and was terrified and instanly said he wanted to go home where he felt safe, this was more than enough for us it was like something from a horror movie. their was 7 families demanding the manager whom did nothing, we contacted our travel agents to be moved still having a week left of our holiday at this point, we had children that was scarred to sleep, 7 of us in one room now sharing 1 double bed & 2 singles, it was a joke. we was told we could move for a further £600 what a joke, a few of the families paid the money to get out of this hotel unfortunaly we could not afford to do so, we had to stay the remaining of our holiday we avoided the hotel as much as possible & could not wait to get home. We all agreed to exchange emails and no's and take this further when we arrived... we dont want anymore families to have to experience all we did for 2 weeks at a great cost too avoid this hotel or you will be very dissapointed. some of the review that are average on here and the ones that are good, must be faulse statements and faulse advertising because this is certainly a hotel from hell, we have taken this to watch dog with the photographic evidence we have and also a letter of events for the duration of our holiday and we are still awating an outcome at the moment. I only wish we would have checked out this site before booking as we could have saved us alot of money and heartache.

Room Tip: higher floors are much hotter as we had a room on the 5th floor first, imagine rooms with pool view...

Arrived 0500 am and greeted by reception staff and offered upgrade to pool view room (little tip reqd) also offered a small plate of food (cold plate of salad and pickie bits). Receptionist wheeled bags to room, on arrival quite impressed very large but quite basic, 1 k/size, 1 single 1 wardrobe & a fridge. lovely pool view. I can see why some reviews on here are very negative but I think that is down to personal taste especially the food and comparing it to Spain where they accomodate the tourist more unlike in Turkey where they are very up front in giving you what they have to offer but we found plenty to eat every day / night. Yes there are lots of salads and veg in oil or dressing but every nigh there were 3 chefs in the BBQ cooking fresh lamb, turkey, fish and even kebabs.
Pool was very large and warm, guests were at the pool at 7am but actually started bathing at that time too. The sun did come up and set between buildings but there was plenty of time where it was fully overhead giving good coverage.
AI bar was not the best, as said in previous reviews only Efes lager, vodka, gin, raki, amaretto or creme de menthe. Also a majority of the staff were actually quite abrupt and rude and even lecherous to the females, although not all were like this. Generally all staff were ok if you went along with what they wanted you to do, once you answered back or did things your own way then they didnt have the time of day for you.
Entertainment is very limited and VERY repetative with general music over speakers from 7pm then kids disco 9pm with same songs in same order every night. At 9.30pm adult show which was not very impressive.
Maids came every morning and was the nicest staff we met (although she did pinch a piece of turkish delight on day lol).
Alanya as an area is beautiful and flat with mountainous backdrop. We took a pirate ship trip which was fab, went to Side & Mangavat also great trip on d/decker open top bus.
Overall lovely weather, lovely resort, nice local people but staff only concerned with tips.
Would defo return to Turkey but try somewhere more westerly next time but would defo return back to Alanya / Antalya. I would stay at Gold Safran again at a push but maybe look for different hotel.

Room Tip: Don't change too much Turkish lira, the locals use it but prefer Euro, £ Stirling or $US dollar...

We went on the 21/09/12, there were 8 of us in the group, 3 being my grand children & their first holiday abroad.
The hotel is a long journey from the airport & the mini bus driver who collected us was falling asleep whilst driving us to the hotel so we had to keep shouting to keep him awake.
Arrived at hotel early hours of the morning, went to our rooms, these were ok & BASIC! You cannot leave the A/C on throughout the day so when you returned to the room it was very hot unless you were lucky enough to take the room key off the fob.
The food was TERRIBLE, chips for breakfast, rice & pasta ALL THE TIME, hardly any meat served, fly's on the food.
If you had a late breakfast there was no selection at all, the desserts were tasteless & the same food all the time. Also because we were a family of 8 we had to put our tables together as they were no larger tables & when we put the tables together the staff went mad with us.
As we went all inclusive we were only allowed Efes lager, there vodka, there Ameretto or peppermint liquor, the soft drinks were horrific, to the point that there was a problem with the soft drink syrup & they tried to serve us soda water!! We had to buy soft drinks from a shop in the end & we went out most nights as the drinks & food were crap. A member of the bar staff were also rude when we requested drinks & would shut the all inclusive drink bar down at 22:55pm.
Entertainment was the same rolled out every day & one night they had a jewellery night with a lucky number to win a turkish eye in gold, A BIG CON, just to get you to the shop.
The water slide was dangerous & falling apart & a few members of my family were hurt using this.
If you wanted a decent sunbed you had to be up at 7am to get one & furthermore one that was not broken.
The floors were slippy as staff did not check where excess water was & a lot of people were seen falling down in the pool area.
Upon checking out they wanted 50 lira to retain a room for 3 hours, they offered the use of their showers but we had to pay for the use of their towels.
We complained to the General Manager however he was extremely UNHEPLFUL!!

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere if you take my advice!
