“A lovely holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2010

This was our first stay at the Pinar Hotel and Alanya. Indeed it was my first trip to Turkey, my boyfriends second. The hotel was in an ideally situated,, a short walk into the town and to the beach. The shops on the main street or avenue are quite expensive, but the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. Some speak English better then others, so appreciate any attempt on your part to speak Turkish to them, even if it is only to say Hello and Thank you.

The staff at the Pinar Hotel, were always very polite and helpful. The rooms were extremely clean, the only thing that would have been nice, was if there had been a kettle in the room to make our own tea or coffee, last thing at night.

The thing I loved about Alanya was seeing the Lime and Orange Tree's that grew everywhere. I know we have our own apple tree's in the UK, but seeing other fruits growing freely everywhere was a buzz. At the PInar, they also have their own vines and guests are given bowls of grapes to eat for free while sitting in the TV area.

There is something for everyone in Alanya, those who love to buy clothes have much to choose from, We didn't but we were told by other guests that there were many bargains to be had and very good imitation designer wear. For those who like jewellary, there are gold and silver shops in abundance. We were told by other guests who had been to Turkey before, that they had either bought or had jewellary made that was worth a lot more when they had it valued back in the UK. The thing is to shop around and barter for the best prices.

We loved listening to the call to prayer that was heard several times a day, this seemed to irritate some, but to us, it made us feel that we were truly in another country. It is a very spiritual place in that sense and the Turkish people we met were very courteous and hospitable. It is also a place where you can wander around very late at night and feel safe. Things are left outside shops all night, which you would never see in the UK.

The weather was very warm, even if at times it was overcast, we still walked arpund comfortably in shorts and T Shirts. Though at times it could get a little cool at night. We experienced two electric storms while we were there, we think we get rain here, it was nothing like it was there when the heavens opened. The worst storm happened at night, but the next day was boiling hot. So it needed it to clear the air and get rid of the mugginess that had built up over the previous couple of days. We loved Alanya and the Turkish People and would definitely go again.

On a personal note, we have to say, that our stay at the Hotel Pinar was made all the more enjoyable by the company of the other guests, who were staying at the hotel at the same time as us. Especially, Kim and Ursula, Terry and Julia, Wendy and her husband and the newly weds Wayne and Katie. If you read this thanks again for your company and remember if you ever want to touch base with us again, you can just type in spiritual chat and we are top of google on The God Light.

Thanks again to all the staff at the PInar.

Love
Kaz & Leon

My first time at this hotel and I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was family run, the staff and the hotel owners were really friendly, polite, helpful, pleaseant and remained professional, the room was kept clean.
The food was delicious (you have to try the chicken and mushroom with cream).
Anything I asked for was delivered (even to the extent where a member of staff went to a local shop on my behalf which is exceptional customer service!)
It was a peaceful and relaxing environment (no pubs/clubs in the close proximity, but easily accessable if you wanted to go to them).
Being a solo traveller for the first time I had concerns before going on holiday. I felt very safe, secure and confident.
The Beach which was clean, spacious, plenty of value for money restuarants, and the staff at the beach were friendly and helpful, it was literally a 2 minute walk from the hotel.

Everything I would wanted in my holiday, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The weather is very hot and humid in August, therefore would recommend earlier or later in the year if you do not like the heat. The crickets were out in force during the day, but as soon as darkness fell they went silent. The positive to this is there is plenty greenery around the hotel.
The weather and crickets are the only 2 things the hotel owners are unable to control, but I did not find this an issue in the slightest!

A BIG THANK YOU to the hotel owners and staff for making my stay so pleasant and will see you next year!

when we first arrived at pinar hotel, 1st august 2010, it was about 6:30am. we was greeted by 'Burak' tall guy, he was such a pleseant guy to us, made us feel welcome in this hotel. as we went up to our room, our room was ok, for a 2star hotel(even though on the internet it said 3 star hotel)i requested when booking this holiday, pool view, double bed, balcony & sea view, wel we only got a balcony. it stated on the internet that the beach is 170m way, it really wasnt. you couldnt see it from the hotel at all, i would say round about 300m away, more than that i know its not that far but its false addvertisement to customers. i went out onto the balcony, to look around and see that it was like a jungle outside, so many trees & a old fashioned hotels around, to look to my left hand side & see that the people staying next to us had a massive bong on the table, with tin foil, spoons and boxes of things, what was they getting up to?? .the noise of the crickets outside was just outrangious, even though you carnt help that, was very noisey, we got used to it..next morning we went downstairs to the breakfast, which wasnt very much of a choice to eat, ceral, bread which was soo small, juice, tea, coffee, tomotoes, olives, cucumber so on, was very shocking. in the back area of the hotel was a pool outside, which was very nice, we spent most of our time by the pool, sunbathing. the price in alanya is soo expensive, people had been telling me that turkey is dead cheap. the location of the hotel isnt very nice, due to all the smells in the area, it was horriable. stray cats & dogs walking around, wasnt very nice to look at. the hotel had a sign outside saying there was not allowed no food & drink in the hotel, i think this wasnt very good, we went to a supermarket called 'migros' around the corner & had to seek in our drinks because in the hotel it was very expensive. for a big bottle of coke, fanta, sprite was 1.69 Turkish lira, when in the hotel big bottle of pop was 6 lira, alot of a difference. i did enjoy the food in turkey was very nice, we reccommend 'big bens' on the corner, very nice staff there, but kind of expensive, we found another restarant local called 'why not' that was yummy, cheaper then big bens, live music played at 'why not'. we went to the beach once, wasnt pleasent at all, dead rats by some of the sun chairs, was dirty & some ruubish floating in sea. cleanliness of the hotel, you bed covers & sheets got cleaned every 3 days i think it was, our's had holes in, we though the cleaners could of done a better job, i had to leave a note on the mirror in hotel room, to ask the cleaner to clean our floor, our feet were turning black underneath due to us just walking around out hotel room, we also had ants everywere in our room. 'mavrick' hotel manager was very pleasent, always greeted with a smile, very friendly to me & my partner, the day time staff wasnt very friendly at all, very rude, served without a smile, & hygiene problems, we loved the night staff so much better. we did enjoy our holiday apart from al the problems, we made it our own, we went on a 'jeep safari' trip up in the mountions, was brilliant!! would recommend. for such a young couple & experienceing the bad things on this holiday in turkey, alanya, dont think will we ever come back to this part of turkey just yet. hotel was clean apart from the things i have stated, we did feel welcomed & enjoyed thank you

Hotel is in good location for restaurants/shops, short walk to harbour. Everything you need you will find at this location money exchange shops, places to book trips out. Hotel had good selection for breakfast, food and drink at hotel are good value.

I would recommend the air conditioning as its not overly priced and well worth while.

I read reviews on this hotel and was bit worried and didn't tell my partner. There was nothing to worry about. Great value hotel I cannot praise it enough. The best night was karioke night, had brilliant night, think staff and guests ears are still recovering from my singing.

Thank you all again for a fabulous holiday.

I had a great time staying in Alanya, though I dont think ill be going back to the Pinor hotel, the staff are rude! they question you about what you have in your bag, and can barely talk English. The toilets near the bar area stunk so bad that at night & during the day I would go up to my room to use the toilet as i couldnt stand the smell. The rooms are small & basic, but you get what you pay for and they are very clean. Someone I was traveling with cut his elbow open on the shelf below the mirror, and had to have 5 stitches, the woman in reception, who is very rude, sent him to a chemist instead of a hospital!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at the hospital they didnt understand a word of Engligh so we just had to sit & wait around, also the price was discusting!!!! you had to pay for aircon in your room, which you have to get becuase you just cant sleep without it! & you have to pay for a safe box near reception, which you should get for free, in your room!! the best thing about staying at the Pinor hotel was Mavrick, he was very friendly and would always talk to you, not like the other staff! I would deffinately return to Alanya as its a beautiful place, but I dont think the Pinor hotel would be my 1st option for somewhere to stay!

After reading the reviews on trip advisor i really didnt know what to expect and i know sometimes people expect too much. After arriving late evening at this hotel with my friends we went to open the curtains which were closed in one of our rooms, not expecting a sach window to be wide open and it was dark outside,my friend nearly fell out of the window on the 4th floor.GOOD START.The rooms were small but clean and basic but the bed linen was stringy and worn.Aircon was 35english pounds for 11 nights and you had to have it as it was roasting..Breakfast was a real joke.Basic is not the word, bread, cheese, tomatoe, cucumber and olives. The hotel bar was charging 3 or 4 lira for a fanta which is approx one pound 75.There is a big notice on the entrance into the hotel saying no food or drink allowed but at the supermarket at the top of the street drinks are half the price. We did take drinks in our bags when we were round the pool but we got told off like schoolkids so i am ashamed to say,i used the v sign to a waiter that had eyes on stalks. There was no entertainment and the famous so called night manager Maverick, was always stinking of alcohol.A young couple staying in the next room to us,the shelf above the sink fell onto the guys arm and he ended up with stitches. The location of the hotel was fine but the prices in Alanya are extortunate.Big Ben restaurant and there staff are brilliant but the prices in the resort are unreal. For beef pie, chips and peas the cost was more than ten pounds not including drink or dessert. This resort is quite pretty but the beach is filthy. You have to pay extra for everything.Cleopatra beach is clean but yet again you have to pay.The harbour is good for youngsters but too hectic for the normal middle aged person .it again is expensive.Good experience but Alanya is not for me.
