Not 5 Star, Not All Inclusive, Not for British & Not Recommended
Holiday booked with Thomas Cook from London Gatwick from 12th 26th September inclusive.
Transfer time is estimated at being 2 hours. Well 2 hours would be good, ours was 3 hours with a stop en-route, what this is for is beyond me, after travelling all day you just want to get to the Hotel. The suspicious amongst you might think that this is more to do with the fact that your room is not ready at the hotel for when you arrive, didn't happen to us but plenty we spoke to had long waits for their rooms on arrival at the hotel.
Also make sure your driver knows where he is going, Aleiye Resort should be the first drop off, but that didn't happen, we went backwards and forwards like no tomorrow…..again might be something to do with time wasting
Reception, arrival and welcome
Check in was easy and our room was ready for us at the time of check in – we were place in the main block of the hotel, block 1, 3rd floor – room 1136. You will be charged for the Safety deposit box at 2 euro a day, even in 5 star all inclusive, I’ve never paid before but others we spoke to have, so maybe I’ve been lucky at other resorts.
Room Availability can be a sore point, and you will read other reviews where people have had to wait for their rooms when arriving at the hotel. It all depends on what time you arrive at the hotel, will depend on how long you wait for a room, we had ours straight away after arriving at the hotel at around 1930, but other flights from Manchester and Birmingham were not so lucky and had long waits, which ranged from 2 hours to 6 hours - as you can imagine lots of unhappy clients
Lots of trouble during the two weeks with the Thomas Cook rep, Clair Bird, who is the next best thing to useless, making false promises and having double standards, all the time making out it’s the first time this has happened, mmmm, funny that. Lots of people on trip advisor have had the same issue, and read recent English reviews and make your own mind up.
A la carte restaurants
3 to choose from, allowed one per stay, not one per week as in other places - Chinese well worth a visit, Mediterranean is Fish only and the Ottamon is the Turkish one - for us they were all as good as each other – try your luck and book a fourth occasion, it worked for us !!
Gala dinner on the Friday night couldn't cope with numbers, no tables at 8 pm which is 90mins after the start of the dinner service – chaos is the best way of describing that event !!
Food is varied and remember there is a BBQ every night outside, so wander outside as well, but find yourself a table first. We never got bored of the food and there is always a good choice.
Fresh Squeezed orange juice available at breakfast - but at a charge of 1 euro 50, that’s a first for me to have to pay a supplement for orange juice in a 5 star hotel!
Only criticism of the food was it was never hot unless you were lucky at time of serving, and some food remained in the serving trays for the whole dinner service period and just got stale and cold – jacket potatoes were cold – never found a hot one !!
All inclusive is only EFES, Becks, Gin, Rum, Whiskey and Brandy – nothing else, there are two cocktails available and that’s all – overall very poor – anything else needs to be paid for. Bar service is poor and double standards, of your German you will get a big glass/plastic cup (around the pool) if your English you will get tiny disposable cups !!!!
Good space, very clean although beds not very comfortable, I woke every day with back ache, TV has about 40 channels, 3 in English, one being euro sport, but that didn’t bother us as I was not there to watch TV.
Mini bar has 2 juice and two water included - nothing else, but it is refreshed daily, as is the towels and general room clean. Beds changed after the first week.
Mosque goes off at sunrise, midday, 1300 and sunset - so for our stay the early one was around 0500, and lasts about 10 mins. So if you’re in block 1, 2 or 3 then you will get woken !!!
The hotel was full while we were there witch is around the 2000 people, and of that the English made up around 20-30 people, so you are very much the minority and from the majority of the hotel you are treated as such.
Our European compatriots think they own the joint, not all of them, but the few that do spoil it for the rest of them, I have travelled a lot and I have yet to find any people that are as arrogant as the Germans - they strut around making themselves heard constantly and as I said we are just second class citizens. The staff treat them as first class as well, so you will need to make your presence known.
Overall they are miserable speak very very little English and don’t really want to know you. There were 3 exceptions to that rule, Semra, Dilay and Mhemet – they were great and treated you like any other client in the hotel.
Most uncomfortable sunbeds I have ever experienced, so take a cushion. As for the beach, well its tiny and shared with everyone else, and there is far too many sunbeds packed into a tiny space – not for me !
Would I recommend the hotel? The actual hotel is about 4 star at best, we wouldn't come again but that's because of the clientele and the fact that the hotel is essentially in the middle of nowhere.
We have stayed in Turkey 3 times before this visit in 2006, 2007 and 2009 at the Hemera Resort and Spa, in Side and that is a class above this place, and so would get my recommendation - personally I don't think this hotel wants English there and does nothing to encourage the English.
