“Great hotel, good food, nice beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2012

We stayed at the Sentido Tabarka beach for two nights with our two kids and another couple of friends (with kids too). The hotel is of very good standard compare to other 5 star hotels we visited in Tunisia, and the rooms are spacious, well furnished and tasteful. The Hotels looks more like a business hotel than a beach resort, but there is overall very easy access to two large outdoor swimming pools (+ one indoor) and a strand of beach. The beach is not huge and when we visited did not have any amenities like shades and chaises longues, but the water and the sand was clean and the view outstanding.
The buffet restaurant was very well catered and did not give the impression of being in a mass eatery (like in some other restaurants in the area).
Only downside - service was not consistently good - some waiters and personnel would go out of their way to help, others woud be grumpy and unhelpful...
In any case, we truly enjoyed the stay and will come back again!

Great hotel. There really isn't much more that I can say.

Staff- attentive and helpful. Rooms- clean, well maintained and well designed.

Only minor point was the "entertainment" in the bar (a bloke playing keyboard and singing) which echoes throughout the hotel. Put a sock in it mate!

Other than that, a great hotel. Thanks guys.

fab food friendly staff mostly french spoken so do try to have basic french to get by . if you want to visit other places hire a car or take a taxi. taxis are very cheap.would recommend a massage in the hotels beauty centre.if you want a better beach walk along past the rocks .please feed the kittens if you are visiting soon .

Room Tip: well worth asking for a seaview room

We only stay 1 night but truly enjoyed the location, the hotel, the big room with all the amenities, the good food – breakfast and dinner included in the half board. The hotel is on the beach. The service was very good. Because there were just a handful of tourists – due to season and the beginning of the unrest – we were served dinner in the a la cart restaurant and the food was delicious. The morning buffet had, beside great food, intricate sculptures from fruits and vegetables. Tabarka is not yet a big tourist destination but a gem known to the locals.

Our expectations for a 5 star hotel in Tunisia were definitly exceeded! We were quite pleasantly surprised it is a real pearl. The Hotel is absolutely beautiful; the rooms very spacious and the view breathtaking. The service from the valet to the receptionist to the server to the cook etc... were all 5 star standard. There were even cleaning ladies that speak English! The food was great especially the show cooking. We even had the pleasure of speaking to the director of the hotel Mr. Azis who was very helpful and even speaks perfect English. We compliment the director of the hotel and ALL its employees for giving us a first class service.
The only thing that is a shame is that the location Tabarka is beautiful, but there is not much to see or to do outside the hotel. so it is really a place to relax, eat, go to the spa center and watch the beautiful views.

Entering the lobby of Sentido Tabarka Beach, your initial impressions with the contemporary design and lighting is that you might truly be finding a hotel that corresponds to the 5 stars proudly shown on the building's signage. Better that one goes to this hotel with realistic expectations.

For the price, it is probably the best seaside hotel in Tabarka, but that makes it all relative. The only restaurant open during our visit was the buffet. The food at the buffet was not bad, but given that the hotel was completely full, imagine cattle all coming to the feeding troughs at the same moment. We chose to eat at a nice restaurant our second night in Tabaraka (Le Festival on 7 of Novembre street) some ten minutes away, despite have paid for half board.

The rooms are not bad, but going to a spa and hoping to use the "fitness club" was another disappointment. Paying to use the club, particularly when the collection of equipment was meager at best. What you might find at a U.S. motel's fitness club. That can be exusable, but not at a "5 start spa"!

Service is yet another matter. Despite having a confirmed booking, we arrived to find they were overbooked. Generously, they put us in a bungalow, which was very nice. However, as it was December and chilly, not having heat in the bungalow was a problem, even for someone tolerant of cold. When we first asked for someone to get the heat working or moving, a technician came and told us that the heat was working. Psychologically, that might be comforting, but the reality, was "working or not", the room was freezing. Eventually, after making some mechanical adjustments, closing off doors within the bungalow and waiting some time for the heat to work, things became acceptable. My expectation in a 5 star hotel would be that the situation would have been immediately resolved with a smile and an apology. While things were resolved with time...Tunisian hotels often fail to see that putting your best foot forward first, is truly the way that 5 star service should work.

Fee wi-fi was offered in the reception area, which is adjacent to the bar area. However, when we went down to use the wi-fi area our first evening, the volume of the amplifier from the singer in the adjacent bar was set for a performance at a stadium. The music would have been far nice at 1/3 of the volume.

In the end, Tabarka is a beautiful area from which to explore this often, unexplored region of Tunisia; mountains, undeveloped areas of rural life and very kind people. Staying at Sentido Beach is something we would not hesitate to recommend, given the shortage of better alternatives. But, envision something more in the atmosphere of this review and then...enjoy the Sentido Beach for what it really is!

When we arrived at the hotel we did not receive any welcome. The hotel did not seem to be expecting us. We had booked the hotel months ago and then trried to stay an extra night but they had not responded to any emails. They were not aware of our extra night so explained we would have to check out and then check back in for the extra night. Although we had made special requests for a high floor, quiet room etc the hotel sent us towards the bungalows at the back of the hotel. We said we were leaving and the manager was called. He eventually gave us a room in the hotel for 'honeymooners'. I think they were taking the rise. Glad we were not newly weds as the room was not clean and the bedding was really dirty and had blood on the duvet which did not have a cover. Getting the room cleaned and all the bedding changed, problems checking in etc all took 3 hours. Not what we needed after a 5 hour drive. However, the staff did try very hard and were friendly. The room was large and had a lot of hanging space for clothes, seperate hot power shower but it needed a good bleach. The hotel is in a beatiful location, the sea looked so inviting but unfortunately the black flag was up the whole time of our stay so we could not swim. The rain and lighting made spectacular evening entertainment! The evening meal was quite good but get there early as the food and atmosphere diminish quickly. The food on the weekend was much better than when we arrived on the Thursday and when we left on Monday. It was rich and plentiful at the weekend but the other days it was basic and not replenished. Stuff ran out quickly. One thing we did find annoying was the lack of control over the lighting on the balcony. The hotel management controlled the lighting which came on at 8pm and went off at 10pm meaning it was only possible to read on the balcony for 2 hours. The rooms had no wifi but there was access in the lobby. The spa was a bit sterile and unwelcoming. The pool area is great though with lovely clean pools and decent grounds.
