I spent two nights in Tabarka over the Eid holiday. I decided to stay in the center of the town rather than at a 'resort' hotel in the Zone Touristique. The hotel was an incredible deal: colonial French architecture, high ceilings, the room looked out over the old harbour and the Genoese fort...'spartan' furniture, but spotlessly clean, bathroom with an old claw-foot tub. For $20/night.
The staff were helpful and welcoming, and the little restaurant downstairs is excellent (try the prawns). The hotel is a one-minute walk from the amphitheatre, a two-minute walk from the marina, a three-minute walk from the beach.
