4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

This hotel is great in all aspects no negative things to say. Staff are really helpful and they couldn't do enough for us. We stayed there for a week as a family of three two adults one teen and a great time. Waiters were great fun and so tentitive .

Room Tip: Ask for pool or see view

9 of us stayed at Bellevue Park in July 2013 and we all had a lovely holiday. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the hotel was very clean and all the staff worked so hard to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. The food is excellent, with the main restaurant having themed evenings, for lunch we ate around the pool, there was always food and snacks available. All in all a lovely holiday with plenty to see and do, would defiantly go back.

Our first time in this hotel but have been to Tunisia many times before. The hotel reception area is beautiful. There are plenty of seating areas in and out of the hotel around the bar area. The hotel rooms are very clean and tidy. We had a pool/sea view which was wonderful. The weather was 50 plus (28 July- 4 aug) so take plenty of sun cream. The food was ok but nothing special. The biggest disappointment was having to set my alarm for 05.30 to go down and get a sun bed. Couldn't believe it,a rui Hotl with pool men and still having to do this. What a holiday.

We stayed in this hotel for the first 10 nights in July. The hotel boasts an expansive, elaborately designed foyer at the front with two restaurants and another eating area at the rear of the grounds, near the beach. There was plenty of different varieties of food on offer, but the quality was not what you'd expect from good restaurants at home. My partner found ourselves criticising other guests for complaining about the food, but after a week or so - although we didn't complain ourselves - we became disenchanted at mealtimes. My biggest criticism was the alcohol. I like to wind down with a drink when I'm relaxing but the drinks being served there are all practically alcohol-free. Now I've got the bad points out of the way I'll move on to the good points. And you'll be pleased to know the good points easily outweigh the bad ones. By far the strongest reason for this hotel's success is down to its staff. The bar men, the waiters, the two pool men, the chefs, the management, reception staff, the cleaners, the animation team, all of them. Please tip them well... there's not one bad apple between them. The facilities are also very good and well maintained. The animation team work tirelessly throughout the day to ensure there are plenty of activities for both the adults and the kids, punctuated by the occasional poolside dance. If you're planning any excursions may I recommend the amphitheatre in El Djem and the animal conservation park, Friguia Park, followed by the Zulu show. Quad biking was also fun, as well as the hotel's massage therapy and the hammam scrub.

This is not a bad hotel, but if you've been to other Riu hotels you will see the difference. It is clean and staffed by helpful, friendly people.
The food is OK, there is lots of choice. But, it is pretty much the same choice everyday, the 'BBQ' by the pool isn't a BBQ, it's meat, salad and chips.
The drinks are plentiful, but weak. They are also served in egg-cups (an exaggeration, but they are in small glasses).
The surrounding area is pretty much a building site, although the beach is nice. We went there most days. Although there are beach hawkers, they weren't particularly pushy and actually added to the holiday, rather than took away from it.
The pool is nice and clean, but busy (but what do you expect in July). The 'Animacion' team seem to work really hard, but it's quite intrusive/loud if you aren't interested.
On a Saturday morning there was a small market in the hotel, this is quite good as the vendors aren't as aggressive as they can be in the actual markets - although prepare to haggle and don't expect top quality goods. There are some small shops in the reception area too. I can't put my finger on it, but I never felt fully comfortable in them.
Top tips:
If you want help at reception, try to time it to coincide with the time the girl with the blond spikey hair is on - she was the most helpful.
The Sahara tour was worth doing, but expect to spend LOTS of time in the coach. You will cover over 700 miles in 2 days.
Take hand sanitiser for when you have handled the money.
Use reception when you can, rather than the rep (if you went with Thompson). It may just be a personality thing, but I just didn't like her, the welcome meeting consisted more of warnings about how you would be robbed, hassled and conned - when we went to book an excursion she spent most of her time checking her phone. I don't want fawning 100% attention, but an occasional glance and a chat would be nice.

Very disappointed with the alcoholic drinks, they were very weak! They were all served in plastic beakers even when not by the pool. The pool area was always slippy and wet, my husband fell! The staff were friendly, we were always feeling obliged to tip them. The evening entertainment was very tacky. The food was bland, and uncooked on several occasions, raw prawns was a disaster waiting to happen, had I not noticed. Strong sanitary smells in several areas. Far from being a pleasant way to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.

I have just returned from 2 weeks here. The entertainers were the best we've had ever compared to other hotels. My kids are 14 and 16 and they were totally entertained and catered for. Sam deals with the teens and speaks about 8 languages to a high standard. Water polo volleyball darts even going on the water sports on the beach. Mini club for younger kids is un by Ramsey . These guys are full of energy even though it is the middle of Ramadan nd it's 45 degrees. Fab food loads of hoice. Really clean and no pressure for tips but we were that well looked after it was a pleasure to tip them. We would love to go back next year
