“wanna go back again!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

after our secind visit, in september, i can state that this place as good as ever...we went back with two couples we met the previous year...hiya pam, cliff, brenda n george!! some of same animation staff from the previous year and a couple of new ones, made it fun all the way... if u wanna just chill with a book (me) or join in the activities(chris) it suits all tastes... food can get a little repetitive but is of good quality. rooms were spotless and the barman remembers your drinks order after the first few times! entertainment in the evening was by animation team and visiting acts...surprisingly varied and the comedy show was really funny...cheers boys!! has to b a big shout out the animation team, you were brilliant, special thanks to nino, spider and mammadou.. thanks for everything...we'll b back!!!!

Visited this hotel in early November 2012,very nice posh looking reception and lounge areas, rooms very clean, the food was international and Tunisian so something for everyone, all fresh and well cooked. There are 2 swimming pools an indoor heated pool and an outdoor one which was very cold so would of had more people in it had it been heated aswell. Entertainment staff very good especially the 9.30pm shows, best get there by 9pm so as to get a seat. The beach by the hotel is very nice its just a shame that us brits had to keep telling the owner of the horses and donkey to give them some water as their stood there in the sun but it seems to fall on deaf ears so its best to do as i did and actually take some water to them to drink and just take no notice of the man insisting that they do not need any! We went with Thomsons and did 2 of the excursions the first one was the quad bikes you walk to habibs quads about a 20min walk then your shown to your bikes then you set off through the olive groves over rough ground, these groves are often full of rubbish, stray dogs and dead dogs so not the nice scenic route that you think its going to be,also you go on to a main road and you have to cross this road twice luckily it was only me and my partner doing it at that time of day but it was still quite scary at times but the guy that took us lead us across as safely as he could,i would not want to do this trip at the 4pm slot as it will start to get dark on the way back and there were some rocky steep uneven areas aswell. If your nervous or never been on a quad bike before i would not recommend this, otherwise its ok for the price. The second excursion we did was the camel caravan again it was just the 2 of us this covered some better ground but its not the desert like in the thomson booklet this is just a 2hr trip, be warned; you have to put a piece of shaved cactus in your mouth for the camel to take it out of your mouth and your lips can touch the camels, but they are lovely, really! We visited Monastir and Sousse be careful as you will probably encounter a man saying "remember me i'm from your hotel its my day off etc etc" its a con they take you to different shops and its very hard to get away from them,we fell for it, so if you do encounter this just say a firm no you are not from our hotel and keep walking. The marina area is nice in port el kantaoui you don't get hassled to much and there are more fixed price shops there which are cheaper than the medinas. There is an Irish pub there before you get to the marina its ok but if you go at night and your female whether your with a man or not you will be letched at by just about every tunisian male in the place, also they do not serve guinness, but a couple of beers are about a fiver or 12TND.I would definately recommend this hotel and would happily come here again.

Room Tip: Most rooms do have a sea view so don't see the point of paying extra for it, we were in 1022 ha...

Stayed in this hotel in November 2012. The hotel is excellent, the rooms are very clean and the pool area was excellent. The staff can't do enough for you. The food was good with plenty of choice at all meals. The evening entertainment was surprisingly good.

We travelled 19/9/12. Firstly the flight, checking in the day before was a godsend – great idea Thomson! It made checking in early the next morning so much easier with no cases. We arrived in Tunisia by lunchtime and on reaching the hotel we were pleasantly surprised that the hotel entrance was so impressive. Marble pillars and chandeliers greeted us as we walked into reception, it was lovely. We were taken to our room which was a pool & sea view, just what we requested. We then nipped down for lunch in the main dining room which was well laid out with a large choice of hot and cold foods & salads. Wine, lager, soft drinks were all available. There was a huge choice of deserts and ice creams too. After lunch we even managed to get a sunbed by the pool even though it was the afternoon. The pool was excellent, it had an island in the middle and a ledge where you could sit on within the water for when it was very hot, there was a separate kiddie’s pool too. You exchanged your sunbed towels everyday by the pool and there were always plenty of sunbeds. The beach was lovely too, powdery sand but we did have lots of seaweed to wade through if we wanted a swim in the sea. Lunch time at the pool bar was usually better that the evening meal times in the main dining room at night. There was a huge choice of freshly grilled meats, fish & veg. Loads of choice for children i.e. pasta, pizza (freshly made), burgers, fresh chips. Also, paella and local Tunisian dishes i.e. Brik. We particularly liked our time at the pool bar during lunch times. It’s amazing what service you get by tipping a small amount and the local staff are so grateful. The breakfasts were also a favourite of mine as I had freshly cooked omelette every morning, there was a huge choice of continental, hot & cold choices too including fruit and yoghurt, all types of freshly made pancakes…Yum! The drinks from the main bars were fine too, however we read trip advisor before we travelled and decided to take our own large plastic cups as the drinks you receive are very small, the bar staff were very happy to fill our own cups – so no problems. It’s a shame there was no tea or coffee facilities in the room as often I would like a hot drink first thing when I wake up or last thing as night, but again I would suggest taking a keep hot beaker and get a drink from the foyer before retiring for bed. Now the entertainment, it was excellent! We often watched the evening entertainment from about 9pm, which was children’s hour but it was perfectly OK and by 10pm the adul’ts entertainment shows were starting. Well done the animation team, we enjoyed all their entertainment over the 2 weeks we were there – we really couldn’t fault it. Great job! As lots of hotels don’t provide any kind of entertainment – so we thought ourselves very lucky. Next, outside of the hotel there are a few local shops, markets & cafes, all fine. However the walk into Port el Kantaoui is about 40mins so we did this walk late one afternoon when it was a little cooler. The harbour was very nice, there were the usual tourist shops with the vendors trying to get you to buy something from them. The fountains were very nice though the immediate restaurants around them rather expensive. We had had enough of the haggling so then got a taxi back to the hotel which we shared with another couple and it cost 10 TD in total. The only thing the hotel seemed to be missing was a path for walks after dinner e.g. type of promenade or walk way. We did go out locally but it was a small local area and once walked many times, we wanted somewhere new to wander – especially as we were all inclusive and needed to walk off our food. The gym at the hotel was OK, quite small but never overly full so you would always find some equipment free to use. There was daytime pool aerobics and many pool events run by the animation team – they were never pushy and left you be if you didn’t want to join in. All in all the holiday was fab and I would definitely recommend this hotel. We checked out the Riu Imperial next door and were very glad we picked the Bellevue Park. Many of the guests we spoke to had returned again and again to the Bellevue Park so that must mean something.

Room Tip: Requet a pool & sea view, high floor for the views

Went to Tunisia in October this year for one week inclusive with Thompson Holidays. Hotel about half hour from Airport. Hotel is a little dated but spotless. However issues with hygiene in room. Maid was cleaning Water Glass with same duster or cloth used to wipe down everywhere else. So WASH your glass before use. On the plus side excellent pool spotless and cleaned to high standard. Pool Staff could not be bettered in any Hotel. Staff at Bars and in Dining Room also excellent. Food was fair but not outstanding but you could eat fresh cooked meals each day. Beach at end of Hotel Gardens was not in my opinion not up to much. To crowded and not as clean as I would like. However such a great pool was compensation. Children have a lovely little pool in a protected area with little slides etc. Next door to Hotel another 5 Star RIU which you can use for drinks if All inclusive. Local shops & restaurants 10 minute walk away. Local People very friendly and helpful. Overall a very pleasant week

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking Pool on Sides otherwise you may get a room below first floor with veiw of n...
