“Just what the doctor ordered”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Had a fantastic week at the royal kenz and was sad to leave! It was a sad time previously at home and this was the perfect holiday to switch off and relax. The staff were very friendly especially the staff in the restaurant. The food was brilliant, great choice. Also in lovely location next to beach with all the water sports. We did the parachute which was a once in a lifetime experience. Also visited harbour which was lovely. Great place. Great hotel. Highly recommend.

We returned to the RK on 2nd November until 16th November and had another excellent holiday. There have been some changes since we started coming but we accept them. Thank you again to Seif for giving us a suitable room ror my husband. You were correct in your choice. Thank you to the boys ( and girl ) on reception and money, excellent as always. Wafa ( next to reception) is working hard to improve the hotel and will answer any queries. In the restuarant we would like to thank Ezzeddine, Mohammed and Mr. Zoubair for their kindness and help. We also thank all the waiters, cooks and staff who were in the restuarant for their hard work. We had lunch in the snack bar and it was very good and we thank Borhan, Hassan and the rest of the staff for always an enjoyable lunch. We used the spa and again had a wonderful time. So relaxing at a fraction of the cost in the UK. Yosra from the animation team was a gem of a girl. So friendly and warm. We didn't take part in the activities because of my husband but lots on offer if you want to be less 'lazy'. Bar staff for any drinks were friendly and helpful. Yes you do queue at buy times but only a few minutes. We used to like the hotel when it was half board, waiter service and service at pool side. Things change though and as the hotel has changed hands it is now more profit run. Hotel rooms were good and comfortable as the maids ( our was Selma ) worked so hard keeping everywhere clean and tidy. The on site shop run by Mr. Mohammed and his son was great for items for the room and to take home. Friendly and always a smile. Use the shop if you go to the Rk. If not used it may close and then it would be a loss to the RK. We went to the Italian twice in our holiday. A great evening and look forward to going again next time. The Indian we didn't try as heard some bad comments and we do not eat Indian at home. We prefered the restuarant when it was French and Mr. Zoubair was in charge and where he is so in his proper place in the hotel. The rep was Cristine and we saw her about a couple of queries. Excellent service and knowledge. Friendly when seen in the hotel and knows her stuff. I will say that the hotel is not child friendly and used to be over 16s only. If you have children I suggest you go elsewhere and to a place that caters for children. Pools and gardens are to a high standard and no play equipment. Indoor pool is warm and wonderful as the pool out doors is not too warm this time of year, ( freeeeezing !!)Food is varied and always something to find to eat. Remember this is Tunisia so somethings will not be the same as the UK or Spain. It is a dry Muslim country and pork is not readily available. Do some homewark before you go and you'll be ok. Lastly the staff make this hotel Kind , helpfula nd warm. They earn little and will help if tipped or not but a tip is very much appreciated. a dinar now is about 32p. It won't break the bank to give something for a job well done . We are going back and look forward to it. Can't wait.

Room Tip: Treat staff properly and you'll have a great time. Go out to the local resturants We had a meal...

We returned yesterday after a week at this hotel.
Read reports prior to our departure but as always we went with an open mind and no pre conceived ideas.
We must say this hotel excels in all departments.
We always find we can get a good idea of the general level of cleanliness in hotels and restaurants by the cleanliness of their communal toilets. The Royal Kenz certainly has a very high level with the toilets inspected and cleaned on a regular basis.
Our room overlooked the pool and had a sea view and was decorated to a high standard and cleaned every day with individual touches from the maid. Modern flat screen TV with a varied range of programmes. Massive bed.
As for the food, there were varied menus on their regular theme nights. The Indian and Italian a la cartes are well worth booking.
Around the pool we had no problems acquiring sun beds and mattresses and the poolside snack bar provides good quality food served to your table by attentive staff.
The heated indoor pool is worth a visit for its jacuzzi and water jets.
Although the hotel was quite full we had no major problems in fetching our own drinks from the bar. Contrary to previous comments made by visitors, the staff do not look for tips, however we did tip in recognition of their excellent service.
The entertainment staff do try very hard to make friends with the holidaymakers, especially Toni, Tito and Yosra. We could have adopted Yosra, she was so lovely.
The people who diss this hotel must visit with the intention of looking for problems and complaining. As for moaning about the food they must be part of the "pie and peas and fish and chips brigade". Not very adventurous.
All in all, this was one of those holidays you didn`t want to end, as we met some lovely people and had some great nights and days with them.
We would certainly return, hopefully in the near future.
Must say the weather also excelled.
Give it a try you will not be disappointed.

We've just returned from a Thomson, seven night, mid-November, all-inclusive break at the Royal Kenz and we really don't see how it could have been improved upon or better value. The hotel itself is superb; not new but very well designed, decorated and maintained, with many different areas to explore and amenities to enjoy, inside and out. Our large room was very nice and was provided with a very large and comfortable double bed, although the pillows might be a bit hard and over-stuffed for some. The room also had a fridge with an ample supply of bottled water always available and a pay-extra safe that we never used. The bathroom had a bath as well as a shower and very hot water was always on tap. The flat-screen TV showed had about 15 channels including BBC News and (surprisingly good) Aljazeera News plus three English-language film channels showing mostly rather old films.

We'd gone for some winter sun, to relax and to have some fun after a very busy summer season back home and we weren't disappointed. The midday temperatures averaged around 24C, which we found ideal for sunning ourselves around the pool on the very comfortable loungers that were always available in sufficient numbers.

The buffet style food in the main restaurant, which had a different theme every day, is truly excellent, with huge variety to suit all tastes and always some different dishes, many of them prepared before your eyes. The biggest problem was how not to eat too much and return several pounds heavier than when we arrived! We were lucky to have Hichem as our waiter most of the time; he always made sure we had a table, remembered to bring us our glasses of water and wine and he ensured they were kept topped up without us ever asking. As well as the main restaurant there are also Indian and Italian restaurants, in each of which you can have one dinner within the package if booked in advance, but we never saw the need.

Unlike on other all-inclusive breaks we've had, where the drinks are served in miniature plastic cups at limited times by inadequate staff meaning long queues, here the drinks are served full measure in proper, tall glasses - all the way from 9:00 in the morning till midnight, with a different cocktail available every evening! Alcoholic drinks are local versions of popular brands and the local red wine is very palatable. If you insist on the real thing then you can pay for it in the American Bar, but again we never saw the need. Tea and any type of coffee you like are also available throughout and there's always adequate staff to ensure fast service of all drinks.

It's the ultra-friendly staff too who made our stay memorable, especially the entertainment team and here two stand out for special mention. Yosra always stopped for a chat, played cards with us and she even played a few games of battleships with us on our phones. Willy would also chat and mesmerise us with his card and number tricks. Together they made us feel like we were their personal friends and it was perhaps that element that had us really enjoying their nightly stints of entertainment because, quite frankly, some of it was a bit naff and not always to everyone's taste. However, their Riverdance evening is not to be missed, with Willy especially showing off his rather excellent dancing talents. Live music was played every other night in the main lounge bar and the ever-enthusiastic entertainment team would be there encouraging guests to get up and dance - and some of us were very happy to oblige.

We booked one tour during our stay, the Tale of Three Cities and we'd thoroughly recommend it. We left in the coach at 7:00am and returned at 6:00pm, so it was a long, tiring day but well worth it. It took in a mausoleum, a mosque and - most impressively - a Roman amphitheatre and our guide kept us informed of a huge amount of interesting facts about each plus general information about Tunisia, its history, its politics, its religious tolerance, its agriculture and its industry. We had lunch in a 5* hotel and found the food, though good, was not up to the standard of the Royal Kenz, which gives you a some idea of how good the food is there.

This was our first trip to Tunisia and we don't tend to return to any of the places we've visited, as there are so many places in the world to see, but if we ever were to return anywhere it would be to this hotel in this country. Some guests we met are regulars, with one couple returning every year for the last 17 years! We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in this marvelous hotel and we wish to thank it, its staff and Thomsons for making it all possible, well done all of you!

Visited the Kenz for 1 week on a package deal. There is a lot of negative reviews but all I can say is "total crap". This hotel is excellent, the rooms are large and spacious, there is a great selection if food, The hotel was very clean and your needs we're attended too. There was no evidence of rubbish etc, There is a couple of bars hosting a good selection. It is a couple of minutes walk to the beach where the hotel had there own part. The transfers were short and sweet with no fuss. I would definitely go back with the girls!

Room Tip: Overlooking the pool room 54 perfect and peacefully.

This hotel is in a beautiful location, and offers a very relaxing holiday. I have just spent 1 week there and found the hotel to be very comfortable, spacious and perfectly clean. The food is great, with a wealth of dishes to choose from, and there is ample comfortable seating areas available to relax with a drink. The staff are all very friendly and approachable. It is a place to visit if you are looking for a very quiet holiday.

Room Tip: All rooms spacious and comfortable.
