“Very pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Have just returned from a week at this hotel with my father who is 89. I have to say that the location is excellent with the marina a 20 minute walk away and the standards in the hotel are very good indeed. I hesitate whether to put excellent for the hotel overall. It is close to that; however the one thing I would say I think they could serve a few more vegetables with the evening meals. It is excellent value for money. The manager and the staff could not be any nicer or more eager to help. The hotel is the right size; not too big, not too small. We were lucky that there were quite a few English people there to socialise with and they were all lovely people. I think the hotel and the area suits old and young alike; it is not too busy for the more mature holiday maker at this time of year (January). However the weather is still pleasant and mostly sunny, but not hot enough to "sunbathe" as such or to sit on the beach. My dad was very well looked after, the rooms are beautifully refurbished. I was particularly impressed with the animation team who continue to work even in the Winter season and the fact that virtually everything was still open (only one beach restaurant closed) even though it is January. The indoor pool was great. Dad was pleased to be able to get Sky sports programmes in the hotel and me to get free internet access in the reception area. The area is safe and everyone very friendly indeed including taxi drivers and so forth. Plenty to do in the area and plenty of trips.

Room Tip: Wheelchair accessible rooms available on request.

Have just had two brilliant weeks in this hotel. The hotel is very nice, we had lovely food and the staff were terrific. Our room was on the top floor and we had the sun on balcony for a long time it was like a sun trap. Every morning we could watch the sun rising. The rooms are hugh with a lovely large comfortable bed and a duvet wich was good as you dont very often get them. The rooms were cleaned every day . We had trouble with the sink one day and the maid went and got someone and it was sorted straight away. So impressed. We went in the no smoking bar in the evenings and were entertained by the piano player who played some lovely songs. The bar staff were good especially Jamel he was the best. Knew which drinks we wanted after first day. The only thing we could complain about was at the Gala meal we were put on a table so far back we seemed to be forgot about. Only gave us one drink all night it would have been nice to have just put a bottle of wine on the table but we found it funny in the end to be ignored. That is only a small moan. We enjoyed the evening very much. We came home on the 30th december and wished that we were stopping for the new year. Oh well will just have to return this Christmas and stay the New year to. It is nice to celebrate Christmas in the sunshine with lots of lovely staff and guests. This is about the 10th time my hubby and I have been to Tunisa in lots of different hotels and we both agreed that this was the Best.Thank you all for making our holiday so good. Be back in December if not before.

Room Tip: High floor with sea view.

The hotel is very pleasant & you would not be disappointed by the standards of the rooms the staff & all the other facilities. We went all inclusive & had no problems. However, what has let our stay down was a scamster called Kamal being allowed to run around the hotel as though he owns the place. If you go there & anyone pretending to be hotel staff offers you a free ride into town, allegedly with hotel approval & knowledge then avoid them like the plague. We got taken into town in a ropey old mini bus & tried to have our hands forced to buy carpets & other goods. I was on my meds for depression at the time & wasn't in the best state of mind. Fortunately we didn't give any money other than a small deposit on a carpet. however, this didn't stop the male from hassling me & my wife whenever he was about.
We complained to a holiday rep called Tina, who just said that she'd make the hotel aware & treated us with indifference. We made a formal complaint to Thomas Cook but received a Luke warm & patronsing response, alleging they would look into the matter. The typical sort of fob off letter one would expect. We would never book travel arrangements through Thomas Cook again & would advise other travellers to be aware. We are also disappointed that the Iberostar group would allow this sort of behaviour to go on in their hotels. It would appear that neither Thomas Cook or Iberostar are interested in protecting their customers or treating their concerns seriously.

Dear Jan,

Although, we feel very sad reading that your stay was not as enjoyable as it could have been, we would like to thank you for sharing your experience with us. This gives us the opportunity to make improvements and thus offer all our guests a better service, which ultimately is the goal of Iberostar.

As we empathize with you after reading about the incident in town, a thorough investigation of the client-capturing-practices in the hotel has been launched to avoid that our guests feel pressured in any way within the hotel premises. However, we would like to point out that Tunisian selling approaches might be slightly different from the methods used in Europe. We deeply regret the incident you suffered but we can´t assume any responsibility for the selling technics used at the harbor. Even so, we guarantee that we are taking the appropriate measures to prevent any future occurrences.

On the other hand, we are satisfied to read that we were successful in all of our hotel services. We work very hard, striving to surpass guest expectations, and reading that you find the hotel Iberostar Diar El Andalous very pleasant is the best reward for our daily labors. It fills us with proud that you find the meals excellent and the staff nice. These features are our prime pillars because we are convinced that only through their excellence we will be able to reach entire client satisfaction. We will pass your compliments to the concerning colleagues, as this kind of reconfirming mentions, help us to continue working motivated in the future. It is also a pleasure to read that the clean room, the value for money and the general quality standards, were satisfactory to you.

Last but not least, we would like to thank you for having so precisely described your experience among us, as listening to our guests is the most opportune way to learn how we can still improve some off our services, therefore we will certainly take all off your comments in consideration. Looking forward to may serve you again we send you our best regards.

Yours sincerely,

This was our fourth holiday at Iberostar hotels in Tunisia so we knew what to expect from this group of hotels. We must start by thanking all the staff we came into contact with over the three weeks 21st Nov/12th Dec each and everyone were first class and nothing was to much bother if you required anything, They were very pleasant and always had a smile for you. We e-mailed the hotel well in advance for a certain type of room on the top floor with any afternoon sunshine available this was given to us plus the hoped for Sunshine. The only fault in the three weeks was the food although plenty of choice was not as HOT as we are used to the dining room manager was made aware of this by other guests and said he was looking into the complaint Once again many thanks to everyone for a great holiday This is another GOOD Iberostar hotel.

We would like to thank you very much for your encouraging comments on our hotel and staff. It is always great to receive positive feedback on numerous aspects of the hotel services and installations.

We do our utmost to ensure that our customers can enjoy an enriching dining experience in an unrivaled setting and with an excellent service. We only stayed one night on our return from Iberostar Hacienda in DR but of the 16 or so hotels we have stayed in in Tunisia this was the cleanest.Rooms were beautiful and the shower nearly knocked me to the other side of the bath.Food was nice for breakfast with good choices.Others we spoke to were impressed with the hotel.I would suggest they remove the shabby carpet from the corridors leading to the bedrooms.Totally unnecessary as the floor underneath is lovely marble and the carpet detracts rather than enhances the corridors.
Will stay again when next travelling.

Room Tip: Ask for room near lifts as the hotel is a maze.

Me and my cousin went for a week all inclusive in November 2012 to have a relaxing break and couldn't have asked for a nicer place to go! The weather we had was great and the hotel has been recently refurbished so is a lovely place to stay. The food in the hotel was delicious and they have plenty of choice. The beach is so close to the pool area you don't really have to choose where you want to go for the day. The staff are all friendly and make sure you have everything you need. For us the best part of the hotel was the Animation entertainment team, especially Sam. He was enthusiastic in everything he did and it made our holiday! They put on activities throughout the day that were always a laugh to take part in. Shows were on in the evenings which were very entertaining to watch, and sometimes they had dancing/karaoke nights that you could also get involved with. As we are quite young we loved getting involved! But older couples we became friends with through taking part in the daily activities loved it too, they accommodate all ages! We made some great friends and would definitely go back again!

Went here on holiday 18th November for 2 weeks we had a lovely stay felt very welcome as soon as we arrived. Our room was very clean and comfy bed (double bed was huge) and had all we needed. The all inclusive option saved us loads of money and we made the most of it while we were there the food was very nice but slightly repetitive after 2 weeks of eating there but we always had food on our plates and theres so many options to appeal to everyone. The outdoor pool area was lovely but too cold to use for this time of year but the indoor pool solved this. Tipping is a way of living out there and your tips are always greatly appreciated. The staff are a credit to the hotel and we were always looked after very well, particularly in the bar area with Lassad and Jahmel making sure our glasses were never empty. Such nice people who cannot do enough for you a real pleasure to be around. Also the Cicha lounge something different but a lovely place to spend time in and we loved the Cicha!Rashid looked after us in there very well. The entertainment team were also very good putting on some good shows while we were there and always had things to do for you in the day. We had an amazing holiday and would reccommend the hotel to everyone great hotel and great staff and id be happy to go back here ! Thank you for a lovely holiday!

Room Tip: We requested a room with a double bed and not on the ground floor. If travelling as a couple request...
