“Great Relaxing Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2011

We stayed here in October 2011. Monastir airport was a complete nightmare on arrival and departure, probably bad enough to stop us from flying there again. The hotel is huge and very grand, you can see it was probably a 5* luxury hotel 10 years ago but could do with updating as the decor is dated.
Cons - entertainment - was embarassing, we saw one show and left striaght away, it was bizaare and a little unnerving, with creepy undertones. The keyboard playing in the conservatory was pretty depressing also. The nightime entertainment needs a serious kick up the bum, it was bordeline boring on an evening in the hotel. The animation team were annoying, would not take please leave me alone seriously, we were there to relax not be hassled in the hotel. We found that if you stayed away from the pool - which was pretty lairy - we managed to avoid the animation team. The a la carte nights serving italian and tunisian food was a let down, several people left after getting there starters to go to the main restaurant. The rooms are a little drab and dated. There was a bizarre incident one day where a puddle of water appeared in the middle of the room, no source for the leak, suprisingly a cleaner was on hand to clean it up - i wasnt born yesterday, clearly the cleaner/culprit was tip-hunting; but she didnt get one.
Pros - The food was good, and there was always a massive range, they did try and cater for the mainly English guests. The service is very good, they do not mind if you dont tip, but its appreciated, your drink was usually ready for you before you got to the bar. Restaurant, Bar and Reception were all great. My girlfriend got a jelly fish sting, and the staff were great, especially in the pool bar where they went out of there way to help - top service. The beach is butiful, especially if you get there early for sunrise and you do not get hassled, its very relaxing with no music playing. The sea was clear, there are jellyfish, but the water is so warm its lovely. The all inclusive here really is all inclusive, you can eat in the main restaurant, the beach, the pool, and in the a la carte, there is masive range, there is a cocktail bar which isnt that good but its included in the all inclusive. In one week we spent £20, all on tips, so saved a fortune on holiday spends.

I would reccommend this hotel, despite the poor nightime entertainment.

Went with a mixed age group and we all loved every minute of our stay here. Nothing was a trouble to the staff despite the long hours they worked. Everyone was very pleasant and polite and the entertainment staff kept us all enthralled with their much talented dancing. Wonderful holiday can't wait to go back again.

We have just returned from a week all inclusive here, what can i say it was just fantastic we are planing to go back in september. The hotel has a great location a short walk to the lovely little port area , a nice walk there along the beach and then back by the reoad. There is a nice little zoo area which was well maintained and only 2 dinar to look around. The hotel is ideal for golf fans as there was a lovely course next door. we also had some nice walks into the countryside took a camel trip which was good value at 20 dinar for three hours we were collected in a horse and carriage and brought back to the hotel. It is much better to book these yourself and not through the hotel or the rep. It is only a short taxi ride 6 dinars to souse and the market which is a must. The hotel was very clean in all the areas the staff all work very hard and are very pleasant and cannot do enough for you it was a pleasure to tip them. The choice of food was fantastic all beautifully presented if you could not find something to eat here then you would not be happy anywhere. The sam s team entertainment was really good they worked very hard to keep everyone happy there were activities during the day if you wished to join in and deferent shows in the evening, children were also well catered for. we love it so much.

just returned from our second visit to this hotel and have already got another visit booked for April. We love the location of this hotel. The rooms, bars and other facilities are excellent. The food meets all the different taste requirements within our family. The most enjoyable thing to us about this hotel is the amazing friendliness of all the staff, especially Sam and his entertainment team. They do an incredible job from morning til night. New years eve was most memorable, we had a brilliant day! Cant wait to return.

Arrival Date 29th Dec 2010. Back from Hotel Riviera yesterday. We were not impressed by what should of been a 4* Hotel.
Our room was shabby, shower fell or wall, and apparently other guests said that when using shower bathroom flooded. We were overlocking another hotel undergoing refurnishment & expansion so noise was an issue. Balcony was really shabby, needed overhaul urgently.
The 'gym' , was a danger zone. No spanners or keys to change weights, Bench collapsed while my partner was using bench weights, luckily there was another guest in there to help him get the weights of him. He is an experienced weight trainer and was horrified that the gym was in use at all.
Indoor Pool nice and warm, but again surrounding area tiered. Outllok from windows not pleasant.
before New Years Eve the food was ok, but from 2nd onwards it was repetitive. The net curtains in Dining Room would of benefitted from a clean.
On a plus side the waiters, waitresses, Bar Staff, Cleaners and animation Team were very very friendly. Beach lovely.

The Riviera Hotel, has been the best hotel abroad i've ever stayed at. The service from all staff within the hotel is fantastic, the bar staff are always on form and able to provide you with whatever you need, along with the restaurant staff, they are always prompt and the service is quick when needing drinks etc alongside your meal or just at the bar.
The cleanliness of the hotel is the best it can be, there is never any dirt or rubbish to be seen, you know that all surfaces are safe to touch etc, (children touching everything - safe from germs) and the floors are always shining and the furniture is always clean and comfortable. The room service that you get is always excellent, rooms cleaned everyday, provided with clean towels, new bed linen, personal items neatened within the room and you know that whatever you leave within your room is going to be safe alonside your choice of using the safety deposit boxes within each room.
The entertainment within the hotel i feel is fantastic, the animation team staff are always around during the day and evening to make you feel welcome and ensure the time you are spending here is the best it can be. They are always providing activites to do in and around the pool and hotel area, you are never bored for any chosen second. The presence of the team around you during your stay at the hotel is always warm and welcoming, you feel very comfortable around them, and know that any problems or queries you have you can talk to them about aswell as the managers and reception staff. The animation team are also always there if all you need is a good chat, to have a good laugh or to just have someone to sit with. The evening shows that they provide for the guests are always well rehearsed and of great quality and are very humourous at times. There are show types for everyone, everyones needs of entertainment are met. The shows always round the days off with such fun and enjoyment, and settle you down as if you were at home. The service the animation team provide is really to me what makes the hotel as they are basically the front of the hotel and who you see the most during your stay, and are therefore the welcoming and homely feel to your holiday.
I have been 3 times in the last 6 months and this is due to the fact that the hotel is just so great and the services provided are excellent and the staff and entertainment are just so good. Before coming the the Riviera Hotel i had been to other destinations abroad on holiday too, however now the hotel has made such an impact on my life because of its brilliance that i dont feel i want to or need to travel anywhere else for a holiday, because i know that coming here i am always going to get the fantastic service off all the staff and facilities, and i'd rather keep coming back to the same place and hotel than chance going somewhere else and not get near as good enough service, quality or atmosphere as being here at the Riviera.
To me being at the Riviera is home, and im sure that those of you looking for a great holiday that is like i say an all rounder who come here will feel the same too.
