We stayed here in October 2011. Monastir airport was a complete nightmare on arrival and departure, probably bad enough to stop us from flying there again. The hotel is huge and very grand, you can see it was probably a 5* luxury hotel 10 years ago but could do with updating as the decor is dated.
Cons - entertainment - was embarassing, we saw one show and left striaght away, it was bizaare and a little unnerving, with creepy undertones. The keyboard playing in the conservatory was pretty depressing also. The nightime entertainment needs a serious kick up the bum, it was bordeline boring on an evening in the hotel. The animation team were annoying, would not take please leave me alone seriously, we were there to relax not be hassled in the hotel. We found that if you stayed away from the pool - which was pretty lairy - we managed to avoid the animation team. The a la carte nights serving italian and tunisian food was a let down, several people left after getting there starters to go to the main restaurant. The rooms are a little drab and dated. There was a bizarre incident one day where a puddle of water appeared in the middle of the room, no source for the leak, suprisingly a cleaner was on hand to clean it up - i wasnt born yesterday, clearly the cleaner/culprit was tip-hunting; but she didnt get one.
Pros - The food was good, and there was always a massive range, they did try and cater for the mainly English guests. The service is very good, they do not mind if you dont tip, but its appreciated, your drink was usually ready for you before you got to the bar. Restaurant, Bar and Reception were all great. My girlfriend got a jelly fish sting, and the staff were great, especially in the pool bar where they went out of there way to help - top service. The beach is butiful, especially if you get there early for sunrise and you do not get hassled, its very relaxing with no music playing. The sea was clear, there are jellyfish, but the water is so warm its lovely. The all inclusive here really is all inclusive, you can eat in the main restaurant, the beach, the pool, and in the a la carte, there is masive range, there is a cocktail bar which isnt that good but its included in the all inclusive. In one week we spent £20, all on tips, so saved a fortune on holiday spends.
I would reccommend this hotel, despite the poor nightime entertainment.
