Myself and my friend just returned this morning, from a 7 night stay. I am very keen to get my opinion across, really just to to contradict the last very negative review. I would also like to mention that I base my opinion on my experience within the hospitality industry after spending 18 years in 5 star hotels and well know British cruise ships, of which standards have to be highly maintained, I now train people to those same standards.
Well we arrived at the hotel at around 11.30pm. The hotel is around a 40 min transfer from the airport. On arrival we were met by the porter who transported our luggage to the main reception, where we were greeted by a very nice, helpful Tunisian receptionist. There was a little confusion with our booking as we were not on the list, but this was sorted out very quickly, in the meantime a waiter immediately brought us a cocktail each on a tray, just what we needed! :D Before being taken to our room, which was in the main refurbished part of the hotel, I mentioned that we were very hungry as we had not eaten anything since leaving the uk. We immediately then we taken to the a la carte restaurant by the main pool bar, and although closed, we were given a lovely table, and asked if we would like water and a drink, of which we accepted and were brought a lovely bottle of wine. Because the restaurant was closed the chef quickly put some food together for us, which was some pasta, of which we were very grateful for.
Our room was very clean, air conditioning, quiet, with balcony that was private and not overlooked, it was also was close to the main bar and restaurant. There are maids that clean the rooms daily, change towels, bedding etc, however you must remember to put the 'please make up room' sign outside the door, otherwise it gets missed.
All areas of the hotel were extremely clean at all times, and very well kept, including the toilets which were spotless, always with soap and loo roll. Staff were on hand 24/7, there was even porters in reception all day, that were only to happy to help you with any request. I needed a different pillow at 2 am and this was sorted very quickly. All the water in all of the fountains was clean, as was all the white furniture that surrounded public areas as did the extensive amount of glass windows The hotel is areas are surrounded by gardens which again were well maintained and not once did I see any rubbish. All staff were always dressed extremely smartly and were well groomed and made us feel welcome at all times.
The restaurant gets a little busy at peak times, and it is at these times that tables may not be clean, however we usually would find a table where we would like to sit, be that outside in the shade or sun or inside. A waiter would then get the table ready while we went to the buffet. And if you chose to sit in a similar place each day, you usually had the same waiter, he would then make sure he saved a table for you, perfect! Food was ok, there was something to cater for every taste, however Tunisians are not favored on their food, many of the hotels in this area offered similar and that also included the English resort hotels, as I made a point of chatting to English people while out and about. I was especially impressed with the childrens buffet, which had been specially erected for the little ones, at there height with simple plain foods. The buffet restaurant also offered a pizza bar, pasta bar and a grill and pan bar there may be chefs cooking large fish, joints of meat, sausages and at breakfast you could even have a freshly cooked omelettes or fried egg.
During the day, you can choose between the private beach, indoor pool, 3 outside pools, the main one by the bar having the animation team, providing daily activities and general good humor and laughter to all. In the evening the team would put on an evening show, which they would also translate in English so we did not feel excluded. There is then a disco then in the theater. You then have the choice of relaxing in the hotels bars, although should you want to drink in The Lounge Bar for cocktails, these are not included in the all-inclusive package but can be charged to your room. I would highly recommend a visit because all the cocktails are made properly with fresh ingredients, you also get a snack with every drink ordered! We were stuffed after 3 cocktails each! :D
As mentioned in other reviews on here, this hotel is advertised to the the German and French market but please do not let this put you off as ALL staff speak English. We were also the only English in the hotel, however we made many friends and we actually enjoyed the fact that we were not surrounded by English , which for me, gave me the feeling I was a million miles from the UK! This is by no way Butlins in the sun, so if you fancy some Tunisian class, peace, culture and enjoy mixing with other nationalities, then this is the resort for you!
Please do not be put off by some of the negative reviews on here.
