my experience with Ksar, as the title suggests, is rather bi-polar.
On one hand, the complex is clean, great looking with mostly helpful and hard working staff. The food, although at times slightly bland but that depends on what you choose, is good enough and they offer a fair choice of it. On the other hand, the reception bar is a large let down. The staff is utterly inflexible. I understand the policy of shirts in the reception and bar to keep out wet beach goers but when I come in, completely dry with a damp towel over my burnt back and my 3 year old sister to get her a drink, and I am not even allowed to finish my explanation before I am rudely cut off and asked to leave, that really soured my view on the hotel. Another thing I have never encountered in any hotel and was not warned about in advance is that the all inclusive deal does not apply after eleven o'clock in the evening and begins again at ten with the opening of the bars. Thirdly, the pool slide has limited opening hours which appear to be random and sporadic and only for an hour or so in the afternoons. Lastly, the beach, although rather small, has very good service and is right next to an water activities shop. What is bad about it is the shortage of deck-chairs and I was not expecting to have to use my towel instead. A pair of notes of warning to finish,A. people often like to "reserve" deck chairs by leaving their towels there and the same sort of people like to saunter onto the beach/poolside at a very late time and B. During the week (it was the day-before-last of our stay) a "market" of sort appears before the main dining hall. A trio of stalls sits there all day offering a selection of football clothing, shoes and a few trinkets and you are flooded with offers from the nearby sitting shopkeepers all day, every time you pass. I like to think of the hotel as a place where you have peace from this sort of thing - unlike the beach and town - and this was not pleasant for me.
To summarise, Hotel Ksar Djerba would get 7/10, if not for the aforementioned exceptions. If you don't have expectations of luxury, you should be satisfied with Ksar ;)
