Firstly we booked this last minute just to get a bit of sun so the price was fairly cheap especially for an all inclusive deal.
On arrival into Djerba airport you quickly get through customs, there didn't seem to be any problems at all but this may change in the height of the season.
We got the feeling that this was the 1st or 2nd week so some work to get the hotel up to scratch and there still seemed a lot to be done.
This hotel is mostly full of French and Germans however most if not all announcements were in French with no German or English Translation in all departments. Some of them do speak English but not very well and all posters less for the one Neckerman (German company) put up are in French only. The French are very friendly, well most of them. A few of the Bar staff hardly smile at all unless French is spoken.
The rooms are ok, not spectacular but what we expected with a nice view which we got due to a 10 Euro slipped between the passports on arrival. The showers are hot and the room is cleaned everyday to a decent standard. Bring an European adapter for the room, no hair-dryers so bring one of them as well and no lifts either since there is only 2 floors in most of the accommodation.
There is food aplenty, however some of it seems to have an almost perfume taste to it. I'm not sure if this is a local theme but I would stay clear of the hot green peppers, they tasted very weird.
The pool is quite large and cleaned daily, entertainment is provided by the staff for small children and adults but was targeted toward the French again, I think you may well get my drift now!!
One complaint I think you should know about is the bars within the hotel, as an all inclusive customer you have to go to the bar yourself, however if you are half board they will bring the drinks and the chit to you wherever you are. If you are a smoker you will be happy to know that you are able to smoke just about everywhere, which for me and the wife really annoyed us since we are non smokers. However in the main bar on an evening the smoke is horrid. Also you are not able to get a drink in the main bar then take it to another bar within the complex, I only say this as there was some European football on but we were turned away at the door unless we bought drinks in their bar!!
There are excursions on just about every day but we did not take the opportunity to go anywhere as we were mainly there for a bit of sun. All are reasonably priced, however most are a long way from the hotel.
The weather in early April seems to be fine especially for fair haired people like myself. There is a nice breeze every day and so far we have had only half a day of cloud which disappeared by lunch.
The beaches are a bit disappointing, with litter blown in on the tide and wind, we may have got the wrong impression as this is the start of the season and things may improve in July-Sept. There are a lot of companies that, like the litter seem to be blown in for a while and then disappear as quickly leaving empty shacks on the coast which are just left to fall into disrepair.
One last thing, no Tunisian Dinar are aloud into or out of the country, the exchange rate is dictated by the government and there are no fees for changing over Euros or Pounds, you just wont get them back!!
My overall impression is one of a country that is recovering from the troubles in 2011 and in maybe 2-3 years will have the structure and the organisation to lay on quality holidays. Nothing wrong with it though if you, like us wanted to get away from home and have a bit of sun on our backs.
