but I realy cannot recommend this hotel. It is supposed to be a 5 star but in reality it is a very low 3 star. The place is huge and initialy gives you the wow factor but then you look a little closer and realise it is quite delapidated. The food is the same every day and is not at all nice with only half the restraunts ever open, We never saw the Italian open once in our entire stay. All the rooms have a fridge but non of them seemed to be working. Nobody had air conditioning in the rooms that functioned correctly. All the waiters seemed to be pulling scams taking cash for drinks keeping the tickets then trying to charge for them a second time. Apart from the cleaners the hotel staff were lacking and quite unfriendly. The hotel is situated in a terrible area which you can only leave by taxis and again the drivers try to rip you off all the time (only pay whats on the meter , they will try and double or even tripple it.) They also try to take you to bars and restraunts you dont want to go to where they get commision for taking you. There is no entertainment at any time.
I was here with work and we had fifty odd rooms and we all had the same problems. We all started going to the local Carrfoursupermarket and buying our own food which they tried to stop but we just couldnt eat the hotel food any longer. The hotel prices are a total rip off compared to the local shops ! 1bottle of water in the hotel was 3000 denar in the local shops you could by 4 bottles for 2400 denar ????
I was just so relieved I didnt have my family with me as this is definately not the place for a family holiday.

I have just come back from the 5 star hotel Miramar Carthage. The hotel is just 6 years old but it start to looks run down already. The hall and swimming pool area look grand and the rooms are massive (we were staying in a suite) but not luxurious (no satellite TV, rubbish toiletries, etc.). Ask for a room near the reception as mine was a 5mins walk along a never ending corridor. The food is horrible..nothing taste of anything and it is always the same food. Because of the location of the hotel- in the touristic area of Carthage- you need a taxi to go anywhere. The beach is a few minutes away but it wasn't really looked after although we were there in low season. The thalassotherapy is a bit disappointing if you have already had the experience as it is just one big pool with water jets. Overall a comfortable hotel but definately not a 5 star!! I would suggest to stay more near the medina in Tunis to get the real flavour of this beautiful country.
