“The worst hotel ever!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2012

Sssso wish I had read the reviews before booking, PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL YOU WILL BE BITTERLY DISSAPOINTED. Most of the hotel was shut down and guests (all 9 of us!!) were located in one wing. We paid extra for a sea view and was offered a view of a muddy courtyard, we complained and it took a while but with persistence we eventually got the seaview. The whole hotel was in a poor state of disrepair and following a burst water main on the second day we were moved temporarily back to the muddy view, we never made it back to the sea view because the damage took most of the week to fix! We kept hearing good things from the rep about the hotel and location and can only surmise that she had exceptionally low standards, she also went straight into defensive mode when we commented on the poor state of the hotel. The beds were hard, the pillows even harder and the room was freezing, we went in march and the aircon in the room blew out cold only! all facilities were shut down and the two outdoor pools were not heated so we couldn't use them, there was an indoor pool in a basement area that was beautifully warm but in such a shabby state that I was too scared to be in there alone, the changing facilities were absolutely beyond disgusting. The food varied from warm to cold, there was little choice and the same dishes every day, unused food was rejigged and put out the next day. Bread (french sticks only) in the dining room was presented on a table covered with a floor length cloth and stored underneath the table uncovered on the floor!! We were all inclusive but there were no snack times just breakfast, lunch and dinner with extremely limited drinks although for most of the time these were unavailable their excuse being that they didnt know guests would be coming!! so it was either cola, tea, coffee or orange squash with a tiny splash of grenadine which passed for a cocktail!! Our dissappointment was beyond words and we spent every day from the moment we arrived in a state of depression and desperation just to go home. Hammamet is the old tourist area and in a very very poor condition, Yasmin Hammamet is the new tourist area and in a distinctly better state of repair but either way we will never venture back to Tunisia.

That's so funny. I'm sure that we saw you walking there last week. We were there too from october 1th till october 8th and it's completely true what you are saying. The elevator was broken, the food was cold, the biljart didnt work as it should, the swimmingpool was closed and 1000 flies flying around. The music was the same almost every hour and if you werent lucky it was the same in every 15 minutes.

Booked a last minute cheap deal to this hotel, and that's exactly what we got. Half the hotel was shut, and only a handful of guests were staying. Gardens leading to the beach unkept, general outside areas very scruffy. No pool/beach bar open, no entertainment, only 1 Tunisian tv in the bar being watched by the staff, unimaginative food, priority given to local day delegates attending conferences. Poor all inclusive deal- only awful wine, local lager, cocktail(juice with a splash of the red wine) no spirits- (charged at £4.50 per 40ml!) no entertainment, background music or atmosphere whatsoever. Cleaners in rooms very sweet and hardworking, guy who looked after the pool very nice, but the rest of the staff were completely disinterested in our being there.

I can only agree with the previous reviewer, Michael Simcock. Every word he has written is true! We met him and his family the night we arrived there from Budapest, Hungary with my two sisters and mother. We only spent one night and a day in this terrible hotel (even the word hotel is and over-rating it). It was terrible, disgusting and we were very, very disapointed and upset at the way we think we were cheated by our travel agent (Thomas Cook/ Neckermann). This place was sold as a 3-star hotel, yet it was no more than a -1 star! E very single word Michael has written is true, so I will not repeat it - I couldn't have been more thorough with the details. Thanks Michael :)
We were very lucky though as we managed to get our Rep. to find us another hotel immediately, which she did the day after we arrived there. The new hotel was just over the road, Hotel Albatross, and I will gladly recommend this to anyone looking for a pleasant all-inclusive holiday. Shame that the Les colombes ruined the start of our holiday though.
Definately a no, no, no to les colombes!!!!!

This was the worst hotel that i have stayed in. We were unhappy from the start took 3 days to spek to the manager, kept getting fobbed off. We went many mornings without breakfast as it was all crossants and salad, every other moring alternated betwen a boiled egg and a very sloppy disgusting scrambled egg. If you got into the dining room at the latter end of the morning then usually eggs were gone, they did not replenish until close of restaurant, Food at other meals was very unvaried, and again hit and miss regarding how appetizing it was. Snacks were supposed to be served between 3.30 and 5pm, this happened at 4pm and you were lucky if it lasted till 4.30 once the unappetizing cold, hard minute pieces of pizza and small soggy leftover salad sandwiches were gone, you missed it. By the end of our stay they were cutting and limiting the bread allowance which at all meals was baguettes only, so if you have dentures beware. Needless to say we ate out quite a lot. The bar ran out of glasses and served the beer in small plastic cups, we had many a run in about that. Local spirits, don't expect any of them on the all inclusive. Hotel was dirty we complained about the poor cleaning service in the rooms sheets only changed once that was after we complained and unfortunately we were there for a fortnight. There was some complaint on a daily basis, but unfortunately as the manager told us for us to expect decent snacks, better food, better cleaning service, local spirits and allowed a decent amount of beer in a glass all incurs costs. Being all inclusive I thought that I had paid for that package. Needless to say everyone we spoke to all felt and said the same. Part of the hotel was for paying guests and they got the better service, which included ice cubes in their drinks, sadly as the second class guests we did not even warrant that privilege. English was not spoken by many of the staff including reception in the hotel, so trying to get things across was difficult. The only redeeming feature was the animation team, which consisted of a group of young people who worked long hours and lived in conditions below the stage area that was far worse than any of our prisons, for most likely less money than a child with a paper round earns per week. Despite this Tunisia is Still a lovely place to visit, but please if you want it to be enjoyable DO NOT STOP IN THIS HOTEL.

We visited Hammamet in April 2007. We booked hotel room in Les Colombes because it was one of the cheapest. Hotel was a really nice suprise. Our room wasn't so big but it was really clean, bathroom was nice.

Rooms were cleaned every day and the cleaner lady left flowers to our room etc.

Balcony was big and straight visual to sea.

Part of hotel was closed but that didn't matter for us. We didn't eat in hotel restaurant but breakfast was ok, mainly french croissant, baked egg, coffee etc.

Hotel arranged nice happening in evening, we had some dancing group, music, karaoke, disco.

Unfortunately swimming pool was not warm and beach was a bit dirty (stuff from sea). Beach was nice and it was ok to walk there.

All personal talked french (we didn't) but they talked also english and were very friendly!

  • Liked — personal, rooms
  • Disliked — beach wasn't so clean it could be
