Just came back from this hotel, on arrival 10th march late afternoon, rooms were not yet ready, but was shown where to go into dinning room straight away for lunch and drinks while our rooms were made ready, very quick and prompt.
Our room was a triple room, I requested overlooking the quiet pool, and that is exactly what we got, I would like to thank the hotel manager for arranging for the extra bed in my room, we had to wait for it , but nothing was to much trouble, and the manager was very easy to talk to.
The food at this hotel had something for everyone, some days its not to everyones taste , but I always found something, and I tried food I wouldnt usually eat and enjoyed it, so do have a go.
The waiters at meal times were always there to offer you a good standard of service, not only because the like your tips, because somedays we didnt have any change, but they still waited our tables with good service, ourselves most meals we tipped 2 dinar (80p), our waiter was called Fithal, he was very smart, clean at all times, and very courtious at all times, we couldnt fault him, and he does deserve credit, he is a credit to this hotel.
The entertainment staff, well, they dont stop trying fair play, we have laughed at them, and with them, the last evening there they put together an act from, mama mia/saturday night fever/hello dolly, it was very entertaining, there is also entertainment at this hotel most nights, but usually the holiday makers ended up being the entertainment, which made it more fun, and even though there were not many staying here at the time, we all got to know each other, which was brilliant, we met Darren and Vannessa here,Janet and Doreen, Christine&hubby, many more thank you for sharing our holiday and making it enjoyable.
Out and about, plenty of trips from Thomas cook, the hotel lobby you will find people selling different trips, up to you really, we went on a Friday to Naebul Market, 15 dinar one way for 3 of us it was cheaper than the bus, the driver dropped you off and will arrange to pick you up at the orange roundabout, dont get confused not the colour orange which is what I thought, this roundabout had massive stone orange fruit on it, 15 dinar back, job done, it is busy there but have a go , if you dont want to be approached all the time, just say no and mean it, carry on walking, but dont be offensive, there are some bargins to be had just haggle, I bought a pasmina he wanted 25, I haggled to 10 dinar, got it.
The Medina, now thats different, it can be overwhelming, I did meet 1 (gentleman in his 20's built like a wall) who tried very hard to intimidate me over a silver necklace, which was definately silver (be careful what you think is silver)and I really wanted it. He tried to charge me £180 for it, I said no way, he stuck his chest out at me as near as he could to me like a stuffed peacock, very threatening, he was towering over me, but they ARE NOT ALLOWED to touch you, I stood my ground, and things did get very hairy I gave him and his chest what for, then I walked of, my sister told him leave it alone, that he had upset me, and he came bounding down the street, behind me, I did go back to the shop with him, and got my Silver necklace for £35, thats a massive difference, what he wanted, and what reasonably it should have been, so dont except any nonsense, and ladies, they dont like it when you raise your voice, the rest of the Mendina was ok, a little bit of come to my shop by different oweners , but nothing nasty we enjoyed it, I think that the stuffed peacock was having a bad day, but for him it got worse, you cant blame hotel, tour operators or any other tunisian shopkeepers for this mans behaviour dont be put off a taxi from hotel to medina 3 dinar £1.20.
The thomas cook put a show on for us Thursday nights, and although £32 it included , pick up and return from hotel, meal, drinks, and show, it was BRILLIANT.
The Pool outside 2 of them, I will state, easy access walk in for the disabled, lovely clean, waiters come out to serve you tea/coffee/drinks, all day long, excellent service, pool was freezing cold, but it is march, inside spa pool could be used free of charge from 12,o clock- 3pm, very salty filled with minerals and sea water, warm, again, walk in steps for disabed access.
Walk down to the beach was in a terrible state, as many other people have stated on this site, but apparently they start cleaning it up from April onwards, which is the start of their summer season. Also shop up the road called joyce's, FAB FAB, no hassel shop ask for taxi to and from if you dont like walking 2-3 dinar each way, the tunisians call it their Harrad's, taxi's running up and down road outside this hotel all day, also guard at the front gate will find one from nowhere, also can ask at reception, nothing at reception was to much trouble, great service, all in all good holiday, family orientated hotel, could here people above you if they had children ,so ask for high floor, we were on floor 2,( that was our request). Any questions e mail me, Enjoy.
