“Could be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012 via mobile

Arrived at this hotel 08/09. The reception area and bar are great. Very clean and plenty of seating. The public toilets are cleaned all the time, and the restaurant is clean.
After being taken to our rooms we were not as satisfied. All bungalow rooms on the ground floor and not private at all. We had booked a room with private balcony???? This was a small area looking directly into the room opposite and was at times intimidating when the people opposite sit and stare at you until you go back into your room. The rooms are very basic, but we did hire a fridge for 35 dinar for the week. If you shower after 6.30pm do not expect to have warm water!!!
The food was great at this hotel, lots of choice, salad bar was brilliant and everything clean. The drinks (when you get served) are ok. If you pay for you drinks you will be served quicker than waiting for your AI.
Never got to the pool as everyone is cramped round the small pool like sardines. The beach is still very busy but managed to get beds there everyday.
After staying in Tunisia for 10 times previous to this, I was shocked at the level of the animation team. They were not good at all. Can't even dance in time with each other at mini disco!! Hey do the same dance everyday for 6 months a year. How can they not know what they are doing??? The previous hotels I have stayed in have been far better with entertainment. The main show starts too late of an evening. No one is interested by the time it starts, and families are taking children to bed!! Bingo.... Every night in every language!!! OMG!!! Boring. Change this Samira pleeeaaassseee.
The real downfall is that they close the restaurant at 9pm. This is very early when on holiday and in the sun until 6. Having to shower etc 3 people and get down there is a rush. Then sitting around waiting for the show until after 10.30pm is a joke.
I personally would not return to this hotel. The food is great but everything else just let's the hotel down.

This is a very good hotel, don't know why people are complaining about it, with a few tweaks it could become a 4 star. Our experience:

Food - Great variety, always available, can get a bit repetitive at times, but there always is something for everyone.

Staff - very helpful and polite

Rooms - Basic, but clean

Guests - Full of Germans and French, hardly any English people, but they are all very courteous and keep to themselves, a lot of local people do come to this hotel, but you soon get used to it.

Facilities - A good effort for a 3* no complaints except they only have one main pool which can get over crowded.

Overall this hotel is good value for money, we were very pleasantly surprised, and my whole family had a great time at Samira Club and would recommend it to anyone on a budget.

Room Tip: Family rooms are spacious, the green rooms block D are better as they are further away from the main...

Okay first - I don't know if some people here paid 2000 euros for one week ('cause it really sounds like it, the way you complain!) But where I'm from - we paid much less. So the value for money is absolutely positive. We were so happy about this hotel. Mainly because it is so big, that if you want party and wild music you can go to the pool area and have a great time - so much life there at night. And if you want a silent night at your terrace, you can go there. Or at least we could, because we stayed further down the blocks. The food was really great thinking of the very resonable price you pay for all inclusive. Snack bars, lots of different to choose from in the buffét etc.
The staff was overall very nice and helpful - I guess there's always a weirdo no matter where you go. But we just tipped the nice one a little extra, and he was all ours the next 10 days :P I would so love to go back - but maybe not i june, july, august because of the heat. I thought it was a bit too much - especially if you have children with you (we didn't) that would be too hot. So I guess in may or something like that, it would be perfect! :D

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the pool. It's much better to go the extra distance to the pool, when y...

Do not be swayed by the professional photos on this website. The real thing is tired and tatty and very overcrowded. From about 9am till 9pm the pool is crawling with kids and locals, we counted 100 people in there at one time. The hotel is aimed at Europeans, not including English, and they wont talk to you because you are English. Staff were friendly enough, but do not know enough English. The waiters can be very moody, but do not expect to be served a drink the whole time you are there, you will need to queue up and get your own plastic cup of fake Coke or watered down wine. Food was bland and the same every day, tasteless and cold. Upon arrival we were advised that we could have one meal a week in the a la carte restaurant which sounds great. In reality it was 3 courses of food we did not choose thrown in front of us by angry, understaffed waiters. A la carte does not equal choice or a menu!

On the plus side the rooms were clean, although extremely basic with no TV (charge if you want one) and no fridge (again charge). Safe provided but also for extra cost. The village looks nice but the rooms are all on ground level and it is noisy constantly as people use your doorway as a walkway throughout the night. The only place to dry items is on your porch, which meant that we had things stolen at night time, such as swim shorts!

The beach and pool are nice, and open 24/7 but too busy. Sunbeds are sparse, and we were up at 6 am to get them. Even when we got 2 sunbeds, we were not alone under our parasol, the locals crowd around you to steal your shade and literally invade your privacy. At one point my partner had 10 men around him smoking and shouting while he tried to relax! I couldn't help but laugh and take a photo!

The country is lovely and the weather is amazing, but enjoy it in a different hotel. It is worth paying extra for a relaxing holiday with better food and service. It is a sort of Euro pop hotel with loud music, animation and random dancing which people (not English) seem to lap up!

We were happy to go home which speaks volumes.

Room Tip: ask to not be on the main walkways and maybe in one of the few 1st floor rooms.

Just come back and had a fab week, food is basic but u can always find something to eat,the snack bar fab food and open from 10-11. Drink were good and good service given at all times the pool area and beach are great for relaxing and kept clean at all times. The only negative thing I can comment on is that there are very few English there but very internationa. Staff are very good and polite ?would defo go again.

Not the best we have been to. The little apartments were set in nice surroundings, rooms very basic...no tv or anything. Food not good but the snack bar was ok and on till about 11pm.Entertainment was ok..they did try. The view was nice as it was on the beach.Left the hotel once to go into town and it was like a hell hole. Constant hassle, hassle, hassle.Even in the hotel, a wee guy kept coming and asking us if we wanted to buy peanuts..we eventually had to politely but firmly tell him to beat it and leave us alone!!Really annoying wee guy. The hotel was ok as such but am afraid Tunisia doesnt do it for me and the transfer was ridiculous...an hour and a half.

Room Tip: Away up the back is best away from main reception....less noise

I have just returned from a week at the Samira club, and on the second night we had a dirty phone call from a french speaking tunisian man who called us on our hotel phone, then we heard a knock at the door at 22.00pm, we never answered and he knocked twice, he then knocked a third time and even tried to open the door, at this point I packed my case got dressed and opened the door to find a tunisian man standing there... I shouted at him and asked him what he wanted, he said sorry and walked off...

Me and my friend went to reception who never spoke very good English but would not change our room, the security man was good and he sat outside our room for some time and walked around but the man had gone...

The cleaners were lovely and friendly and cleaned our room daily, the pool was very clean and the beach was lovely with white sand. Food was ok for a 3 star there was plenty of choice and you would always find something you could eat..

The entertainment was very poor and the same every night so we went to bed early most nights, there was no other English in this hotel. Overall you get what you pay for but I would not recommend women traveling alone to stay in this hotel....

Room Tip: Another hotel German guests woke me up at 6am having a conversation outside our room
