“Great honeymoon”

We had a wonderful honeymoon at the Phenicia. We stayed a week, August 11-18 2013. The resort really made it for us. 90% of what I have to say is positive.
The room was beautiful, modern and clean. We were very close to reception, in room 1002, so we had free wifi all week. There were two single beds, made up into one huge king size bed. The room, and the hotel, were beautifully clean. Our balcony looked out onto the gardens, and was bathed in sunlight every morning.
The food was incredible. So much choice, and so much variety every day. The food is served endlessly. We had a wonderful waiter at the main restaurant. We did Le Dragon asian restaurant one evening, which was free on our package. The food was incredible, and the staff were super-friendly in there. We enjoyed Le Berbere as well, outdoor dining in traditional bedouin-style tents. The pancake man at breakfast every day is a superstar.
The beach is stunning. Absolutely gorgeous. We had pre-booked the Sentido Plus package, so we had guaranteed sun loungers every day, right near the seafront. We loved seeing the camels walking past every day.
We visited both the new and old Medinas, and also Nabeul market. We thoroughly enjoyed those experiences. The wine tasting at Chateau Bacchus was delicious. Friguia animal park was amazing, especially as my wife got to feed a giraffe from her hand.
A few problems-
1. On the Sentido Plus package, certain items such as bathrobes and slippers should be provided in the room. Our items were missing. I had to get the Thomas Cook rep to speak to the hotel, to get our items brought to us. We finally received our items the next day.
2. Also on the Sentido Plus package, coffee making facilities in the room should be filled up every day. This was not done for us. It took several reminders on various days before this was done. We should not have to remind the hotel to give us what we have already paid for.
3. Our rep clearly informed us that our package included free late checkout. When I went to reception on our final day, I was informed that we could not have late checkout, since a new guest was checking in to our room at midday. This is not acceptable. For guests who have late checkout as part of their package, the hotel should ensure that their rooms are not allocated to a new guest until later in the day.
4. I tipped the lounger attendant at the beach every day, very handsomely. We always used our prebooked loungers in the second row. However, on our last day, the attendant forced us to move off our loungers in favor of another man. I can only presume this man had given a bigger tip. This was a disgusting way to be treated. Service should not be dependent on the size of the tip given.
Overall, a very happy honeymoon.

compliments as well as the “few problems” you mentioned – they have our best
attention – we apologize for any issues. After investigations made with our Main
Housekeeper we have unfortuanatelly to confirm that due to a misunderstanding you got the bathrobes only the day after your arrival– we are so sorry. The coffee and tea facilities however are filled up daily – sometimes even twice a day?
Free early check in and late check out is part of the SENTIDO package, however depending
on availability, which is sometimes difficult during peak season when we are fully
booked. We would be happy providing you a shower room under this circumstance –
thank you for your understanding.
Unfortuanatelly we couldn’t find out why the incident happened at the beach with
the beach attendant the last day – we won’t believe honestly it was a question of
more tipping – certainly, as it was your departure day “your” sunbeds have been
attributed to new arrived guests, nevertheless there is no reason to be treated in this
manner – please kindly accept our apologies.
We are happy you had overall a very good honeymoon and would be delighted
welcoming you back – to make up for any inconveniences.

We have just come back from a fortnight here and we had a fantastic time. It was our first time in Tunisia and we weren't disappointed.
Like some people have mentioned the rooms are dated but at the end of the day you only sleep in them, and the beds were comfortable and the room was immaculately clean.
The food was very good and cooked perfectly. Our waiter in the evening was very attentive and even had a cake made for me for my birthday which was a lovely touch.
The BBQ bar at lunchtime gets very busy and the service is slow so I would suggest going to the restaurant for lunch.
The bar staff in the evenings work so hard and for a small tip will make sure you have a constant supply of drinks at your table.
Shopping is very good there too. Take a short taxi ride into Yasmin (5 dina =£2) you can get all your copy handbags and shoes, and they are a very good standard! (£8 for converse)
Now the animation team...
They really do make this hotel!
They work tirelessly to make sure everyone is happy and enjoying their stay. They are a constant source of entertainment and kept us amused for our whole stay. From Nemo and his aqua gym to Mido and Bibos amazing dancing, Mike's brilliant Micheal Jackson and utter craziness around the pool to Mario just being Mario (who really is a "good boy"). The whole team are fantastic and they are all a credit to the boss man "Van Deisel" who really does work hard to keep them all on their toes! But a special mention has to go to shaggy and mouse!! We will miss shaggys cries of "wata polo" everyday,his great smile and sense of humour, and mouses help and company throughout the day, along with his fantastic dancing and fire breathing. They have great local knowledge and really made our stay the perfect holiday, thanks boys!
We will definitely be returning to the Phenicia and look forward to seeing all the staff again, and thank you all for a great holiday!

Just returned from 1 week stay at Phenicia with my girlfriend. I was sceptical at first about the hotel, as I presumed it would be overcrowded in August, however everything from the food to the staff exceeded my expectations.

All the staff are so friendly and welcoming, and in particular SHAGGY from the animation team. We booked 2 banana boat trips through him and were great fun, I would definitely recommend! His water polo was also good, which I found myself playing twice a day.

All in all it is a great value for money hotel, and I will definitely be returning in the future!

Just got back from an amazing week at Phenicia with my boyfriend. Everything about this hotel is brilliant; from the service of the staff, to the gorgeous beach and pool. This place is perfect for a relaxing break.

The animation Team, along with all of the bar staff work so hard both day and night to ensure guests are happy.

Most importantly, our holiday would have not been the same without SHAGGY :) he is one of the friendliest, cheekiest and most likeable people I have ever met, and he is a credit to the hotel- We will miss you a lot!

My boyfriends highlight of the day was joining in Shaggys WATERPOLOOO which was always funny to watch. We also went on 2 banana boat trips which were organised by Shaggy, this was so much fun and something I would definitely recommend!!!

Overall this holiday was perfect, and I look forward to returning very soon :)!!

Four of us have just got back from one amazing week at the phenicia, wish it was longer!

The animation team were incredible but I will come back to that.
All hotel staff very friendly and made check in etc very easy. (particularly our porter ‘Ben’ who was lovely throughout holiday).
Room was dated but didn’t spend much time in there anyway, needed an extra bed putting in and there were quick with that and nothing was too much trouble. Yes, the corridors smelt a bit and were dark but you only have to walk through them.
Tipping isn’t compulsory with anything but we always did with most things like drinks, cleaning, sunbathing mattresses, crepes, dinner etc and its appreciated.
Food was good throughout, especially breakfast with omelettes and freshly baked croissants. There was always fresh pasta made to order at dinner too.

Ok, best part…. the animation team, every single one of them works so hard and although I didn’t get to know them all, you could see all of them always working hard and making everyone smile and are an absolute credit to this hotel.
Nemos aquagym was so good, we all did twice daily without fail  He always came to see us (spice girls) and chatted! He was also always impressive in the evening entertainment and parties etc! WE will miss him!
Mario is a little legend and was loved by all of us, especially his girlfriend (Chinese eyes), he really makes the team at this hotel and takes the banter from the others very well indeed for everyone else’s entertainment.
We loved the stretching and zumba with titi and mira who are both lovely girls. I will miss miras crazy dancing. The line dancing with mira and olga was our favourite!
Although we didn’t do classes with them throughout all the group things and entertainment Shaggy, Bebo (v good dancer), Mouse and Nico were amazing and always smiling and happy to chat. (the other lads too but don’t know their names)! The little trip with Shaggy and Mike was also a good morning out, to do something different! Shoutout to the boss for keeping them all in order.
And finally Mike (rio) and Olga who looked after us so so well, we LOVED yoga and pilates with them both and got to know us very well. I will miss them both loads, they are an absolute credit to the hotel. Mike always kept us entertained and he brightened up the day, will miss him lots. Olga worked so hard for us and did sessions according to what we wanted and she is just so lovely! I hope they are both there on my return!
I will be returning to this hotel ASAP and this is due to the friendly staff and of course the incredible animation team who I hope never changes as they are a group of AMAZING people.

When we arrived at the hotel it was very late at night and all we wanted was to get to our room, the reception staff and porters were very helpful and efficient, however as we approached our room we began to wonder more and more about where we had booked. The corridors were dark and dingy, there were several sick stains on the carpet and it got worse when we arrived at our room, it was extremely small (the smallest room we have EVER stayed in) and it was to accommodate 3 adults with barely enough breathing space let only space to move. There was little to no drawer space and the wardrobes were more like something you would get in a prison, The room had no theme to it- a picture would have made the room look brighter. The cleaning staff were very good and cleaned the room well everyday and they changed bedding and towels everyday however some of the sheets were still stained.

The main pool area is more like Butlins with activities going on around it, although the animation team were very nice and worked hard they constantly expected you to join in which isn't my idea of a holiday. The food got worse as the holiday went on, some days we barely ate anything, one member of my family had some meat which when they came to eat it, it was raw- absolutely disgusting! The CANTEEN got more crowded and the queue's got longer and people became more and more pushy.

Room Tip: DON'T BOOK useless you like butlins in the sun!!!

you might have experienced during your stay during peak season. Sorry, if the room was quite cramped, please be advised there are no sick stains in the carpet - there is no color any more due to strong cleaning products. We are happy, one floor has been refurbished and the carpet had been changed - we will continue updating during winter...Luckily the service of your cleaner was to your satisfaction. Our housekeeping would be happy to help immediately if you are “discovering” stained sheets – they would be changed more than quickly.
It would be important to us to know where exactly you have been served row meat - this is neither acceptable - nor corresponding to our hygienic rules and procedures.
Generally the quality of our food is very good – proved by the results of our regularly questionnaires. Activities are taking place round the main pool, most of our guests are more than happy with it – if you would like to relax and not to join in then we would suggest the small pool, or as a second possibility - the beach.
Yes, in peak season it could be crowed, there could be queues – we apologize if people have been more and more pushy.

We would like welcoming you back during another quieter season.

Stayed here for 2 weeks which was more than enough time to relax and have fun.

The first room we stayed in had ants, eventually we had enough and the staff at reception were happy for us to move rooms. We then realised we should have moved sooner as the 2nd room was much brighter and had a better view from the balcony. Where the first room was situated it felt like I was in a gloomy dormitory! However the rooms are standard and have what you need.

The food was fine, you can have lunch in the main restaurant or beach bar. In the 2nd week it did get repetitive but that's expected with all inclusive. I have to thank the pan cake man for fulfilling my request of banana pancakes! The staff do go out of their way to please and are always happy and smiling.

The animation team are fantastic! Best animation team I've seen so far. I have already mentioned some names. They do a great job throughout the day and will always come and talk to you! They put on some great shows. In particular Mikey and Bebo thumbs up as you are brilliant dancers! Not one bad thing to say. They all have their own activity to do and every guest can engage if they want. I enjoyed crazy golf with Zoe and aqua gym with Nemo. Watching water polo led by Shaggy was a good laugh too!

I would love to be back there right now and already looking to go back for a week in April!- This would be the first time I've ever gone back to the same place. Thanks to all the staff that made my holiday fantastic!
