“Fantastic 3 Star! beautiful beaches...great Staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2010

Me and my Husband atyed here for a week in July...Hotel is immaculate, staff are over friendly and the rooms are nup to scratch, everything and MORE you could expect form a 3 Star!
the food was great good choice everynight and morning...you dont even have to move from your seat in the evening to get a drink as the waiters are happy to serve you, if you leave them a small tip they look after you all week!
Drinks prices in the hotel are very reasonable and good quality, pints are in teh Huge old style pint pots and wine comes by the bottle (small of course)
the beach is beautiful and no problem getting a sunbed, beach bar is great very reasonable priced and again waiter service on teh drink, this hotel gives the sort ofd service you would expect from a 4 star!
my Granddaughter was staying in Yasmine Hammamet in an Iberostar 4 star and when she came to vist us at the Bel Azur she said the Bel Azur was much better that their 4 star Hotel.
Hammamet its self is very busy with big Medina and Bazars but you really do not need to go out the hotel.
Bewear of the locals trying to Con you by sayinhg do you remember me from your Hotel? trying to get you into their shop but Tunisai its self is very mythery but dont let it put you off as its a beautiful place.
There are not many bars outside of your Hotel so it is hard to get a drink anywhere apart form your Hoptel due to their religion.
I would reccomend this Hotel to Everyone mainly older couples and familes

Me and my partner had never been to tunisia before, but we had nothing to worry about on this holiday, the hotel is just a 20 minute walk from the centre of hammament (you can get a taxi for 3 dinars- we just walked tho) the hotel is a bit dated but that did not bother us. Rooms a good size and we got a sea room which is an amazing view! the rooms and hotel were spotless, always maids cleaning, and towels changed when you want them. Food was nice, provided something for everyone- there is other places if you fancy a change or a meal out just across the road. Overall staff were friendly, waiters certainly took care of us when at the pool getting us drinks etc (bit hard to get there attention at supper time tho so were sitting there with our food and no drink!)

Reception staff were not the best - On arrival, we got checked in and then they handed us our key but we had to find the room ourselves, not a problem for me but some would not like this. Other staff fine, pool is good size and was clean. hotel is a few steps from the beach which is georgous! would def go back!! excellent value for money!!!

On arrival we were a little put of as the coach could not park right outside our hotel, the hotel porters came out and helped us carry our luggage in. The hotel is in need of refurbishment ,which i'm told was happening while we were there. The room was basic and clean with a very big patio we had a veiw of the gardens and the sea. Athough we did have some trouble with our shower which they fixed as soon as we reported it,the staff were very helpful and friendly. I wasn't that impressed with the food but it was eddible. The beach was a few steps away from our room and really lovely. The pool area was a bit hazardous as there are no anti-slip runs, the poolman looks really miserable looks are decieving he was very helpful and also took a no nonsense approach to any dangerous behaviour. The animation team made our holiday they were very hard working and very funny their shows had us in stitches, and the hotel dances were great!!

our stay and bel azur was lovely. the hotel decor was a bit dated but still ok. breakfast wasnt up to much i only liked the omlettes and the man who made them was a bit grumpy. dinner at night was nice, chicken, turkey roast beef, veg, pasta and chips allso lots of salad stuff. the pudding were nice aswell lots of cakes and ice cream. the pool area was always clean and the men who worked there got your loungers for you and brouught you drinks if you wanted. the beach is a stones throw away and clean aswell. all the staff are really helpful and couldnt do enough for you. my boyfriend wanted to watch football but they dont put it on in the hotels so we found a restaurant called cap azur a 5 minute walk from the hotel to your left the had all the games that you wanted. its quiet at night but thats what we wanted so i wouldnt go ther if you wanted a clubbing holiday. i would def go back there as really cheap.

well what can we say yes the hotel is a little tired but the beds are clean the maid does and you always have a clean towel. the meals are a little boring but always something to eat and its hot ,and who eats a differant thing everyday i am the worlds fussiest and i didnt starve. my mother who has heart failure had a loverly time the staff were brilliant with her . as with my daughter who had a broken leg they couldnt do enough . the sea activaties were well worth every penny my sister and i and 2 friends we met went on the big inflatable armchair ladies this is a must we were all over 40 and what a scream. the parachute was eaqually as good and very cheap. hammermet itself was a bit daunting with men harassing us but we were a couple of women with beautiful teenage daughters so just be aware . we were on the ground floor of the hotel and had 3 pairs of shorts and a towel pinched overnight so be aware again ,we informed management but it really isnt the hotels fault just had scumbags there at the time. you can use all the 5 and 4 star facilities in the sister hotels literally 5 mins away but we found the atmosphere at the pool second to none . the animation team were brilliant never pushy always willing to help you and always manage to keep you smiling .those people who slatted them you NEED TOGROW UP these lads work for little or no money alrite its not british entertainment but you r in tunisia !!!!!! went on the african dreams trip all the animals were asleep and it was to hot walking round we hardly saw an animal so wouldnt advise. the boat trip on the gallion we were told by a couple we met (in there 50s)said it was brilliant . all in for you money well wotrh it .x oh by the way brill little snack bar right across the road sooooo cheap and lovely strawberry milkshakes (next to shop and bag shop )

I am only back from the Bel Azur and what the previous reviews say are right. This is a lovely hotel but does need a major overhaul, but to put it in perspective there are people who have been going there forever, I think one couple had been going for at least 15 years - so all the reviews that you read take them with a pinch of salt. Lets do the positives first!!!!!!

When I arrived a 5am in the morning after a very long (2hr) bus journey) all I wanted to do was sleep. I was given a lovely cold fruit juice and was checked in within 10 minutes . The Porter took my case to my room and I was left in peace! A perfect check-in I have to say!

The staff are lovely and the food is not bad. I always found something to eat at nights. The best nights were the tunisian nights when there was no european food!

The rooms are cleaned everyday and all fresh towels left. The maid spoke excellent english so it was easy to communicate.

I managed to get a quite room at the back of the hotel that overlooked to beach - fantastic and you didnt hear a thing whilist those that overlooked the pool had a very noisy experience!

The management take no nonesense from the staff and if they hassle you in any way dont be afraid to report them as this is taken very seriously. Whilst I was there I dont know why but the photographer was sacked and within an hour (maybe less) there was a new one in place.

The animation team work extremely hard - they are there from morning through to late at night and deserve a medal for some of the rubbish they have to put up with. There were loads of kids there who kept getting in their way when they were trying to dance and perform and they were so gracious - me personally a slap for the parents wouldnt have gone amiss for not keeping their kids under control!

The Thomas Cook Rep Sami is lovely and is the most helpful man I have ever met and gives good sound advice - listen to what he has to say if you have never been in Tunisia before.

There are three hotels on this complex - make sure you go across the to Sol Azur (4*)even just to have a look its lovely and their shop is dirt cheap with good quality goods!

Someone said that this was not a hotel for people with walking problems, however there were elderly and disabled children there and they had no problems. There is a lift to all floors which it doesnt mention in the brouchures.

Now for the downsides!
My toilet flush didnt work properly - it leaked and it was reported twice - they did fix it to the best of their ability but it still dripped all night long!

The hairdryer is prehistoric so if you are precious about how your hair looks at night - take a travel hairdryer as this was more like a hoover and made you look like you just got off a motorbike!

The locals are allowed to pay a fee and use the pool and beach facilities and especially on a Sunday and Wednesday there are more locals than tourists which is a pain as its a full family outing with tons of kids!

I have been quite a few times to tunisia but first to Hammamet - I have to say that I prefer Sousse where the pace is a little less and the people are not so pushy.

If you are of a nervous disposition then the medina is not for you!! They will follow you everywhere and try to really rip you off, however if you are firm then they will back off and I did get a few bargins - full length leather coat £100!

I love tunisia and will be back.

First stay at this hotel, but it wont be our last. The room was cleaned every day and towels and sheets changed regularly. Breakfast and dinner had a good selection of food , and the cooks and waiters were friendly. Nice large swimming pool both indoors and out. Evening entertainment was rather repetitive and not very good, but after a hard day on the beach and at the pool we were happy to fall into our beds
If you go during peak season or busy time give the Pirate ship a miss unless you want to be quashed like a sardine. We went on our first week when it was very quiet and it was terrific entertainment , but those going on the second week when it had got busier wished they had given it a miss.
Bartering in the Medina, Check fixed price shops first to get a good idea of the prices, but the best value for money shop was the supermarket right opposite the hotel entrance.
