“Excellent holiday, can't wait to go back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

We have just come back from our fantastic all- inclusive week (not long enough!) in Tunisia, at the lovely Les Oranges Beach resort.

Our first impressions of the hotel were not impressive at all as we arrived in the night, when we got to our hotel room none of the electrics worked. However the matter was dealt with swiftly and efficiently, and all was fixed within 30 minutes! Our view by the end of the first day had completely changed and we had fallen in love with the hotel, entertainment team and the waiters, as they could not do enough for you!

Location: At first arriving at nighttime the impressions of the area were overcast and we were a bit dubious! However in the daylight we soon found out that venturing out of our resort was perfectly fine, you may get a few shopkeepers asking you to "look at their shop" but if you just reply with a "no thank you" they leave you alone. NO HASSLE! Very friendly locals and felt very safe venturing out near the hotel and further afield at the Old and New medina (worth a look even for 1/2 hours).

Bedroom&Bathroom: Our room was cleaned daily to a high standard by a very friendly cleaner, the bed although at a first glance looked uncomfortable, was the complete opposite (with extra pillows in the wardrobe for those who are picky like me!). We had a beautiful view of the gardens from our balcony which was hidden enough from other hotel guests so that you still get your privacy, would recommend a balcony if it is possible. The bathroom was lovely and clean with bath robes, slippers, towels (including beach towels) along with miniature shampoo and conditioners. A hair dryer was supplied which was fairly powerful. The only thing i could say about the rooms as an improvement would be to add a safe as there was no where to put valuable belongings that were not needed throughout the holiday.

Beach&pool area: Waking up everyday knowing you don't have to travel to get to a beach was heaven, considering you literally walked onto the beach from your doorstep! Very clean beach with plenty of sun loungers available throughout the full day, which you don't have to pay extra for as well as shade and the cushions. Not many strangers walking around the private beach which you can sometimes get (i have found) in other countries, other than the odd person selling something, however they do not come and hassle you. More than enough activities supplied on the beach such as parachutes, banana boat and the donut ride. Provided on the beach are soft drinks and alcoholic beverages in a small tent, as well as toilets and showers, which are all clean. Near the pool area was difficult to find a sun lounger unless you got there bright and early, however the pool was kept very clean, with plenty seating areas around the pool just not along the poolside.

24 hr food & drink: Breakfast- wide variety at breakfast, crepes and waffles are devine! served until 11:30 for those who like a lie in!
Lunch - The buffet restaurant on the beach supplies food, with a wide variety as well as the wok which makes stirfries to your liking, and pizzas of your choice, all VERY tasty! Another little snack bar serving sandwiches, paninis, burgers also provided at the pool area.
Dinner - Another buffet style, with a large variety to cater for everyone, even for those picky eaters. I managed to find something every night to eat so never went hungry!
The 24hr bar was a bonus and selling factor, as many other resorts only provide 12hr not even being able to get a bottle of water late on! You could drink as early as you liked to as late as you liked! An A la Carte menu is also provided if you fancy a change which is situated down by the beach.

Waiter/bar service: FANTASTIC! The staff on this department could not do enough for you and were very friendly! Trying to make conversation with you every night to make you feel comfortable and welcome. Almost every night in the dining area and outside in the seating area we had the same waiters who knew who we were, which makes you feel relaxed and at ease.

OUTSTANDING Entertainment Team: The entertainment team made our holiday for us! Extremely friendly and making an effort with every guest at the hotel even the couples without children, as they ran a kids club daily. Providing enough activities around the pool and down by the beach everyday with a variety for different interests. Every night they would put on an entertainment for the children (8:30pm) and then from 9:30pm an adults show, which alternated from an ABBA tribute, to comedy shows, to a professional bellydancer, and shows getting the guests involved. Although their shows were not performed by professionals this made it all the more entertaining, as they enjoyed themselves as well as the audience. ALL OF THE TEAM ARE A CREDIT TO THE HOTEL!

Our Thomas Cook Rep was very helpful in telling us about organised activities with themselves and the local transport (yellow taxis, VERY cheap and reliable!) and the local traditions.

Activities: We did the quad biking provided by the man on the beach, very reliable and good fun! 2hrs riding the bikes seeing the views of the local area of the hotel. only 70 Dinar pp (around £28) well worth the money!
Also from the beach, to the right of the water sports, were camel rides, which were very good, friendly supervisor and well worth the experience, thoroughly enjoyed it!

Small improvements:
Reception staff could have been a little more helpful and warm, as they seemed like they didn't really put in as much effort as the other staff employed here.
Have a small guide in the hotel rooms to tell guests where they can change their beach towels (JUST PAST THE POOL AT THE ANIMATION TEAMS BUILDING IS WHERE YOU CAN CHANGE THEM, AT ALLOCATED TIMES) and also the times of breakfast and dinner.
We had a late flight on the way home (midnight), although ONE room was provided for all late leaving guests to get a shower etc, it would have been more helpful if you could request a room at the beginning of your holiday for a late checkout. We used the ONE room, however there were 4 of us attempting to get showered, changed and fully sorted and we had 2 phone calls telling us to hurry up, we had only been in the room for 45 minutes max. as it was also located at the opposite end of the resort!

Overall we had a fantastic time and it is one of the many holidays/resorts where we would love to go back! It is a fantastic holiday to be had by all, couples, families and even a girls/boys holiday. I would recommend this resort over and over!

Room Tip: Balcony views are great on the second floor rooms, ask if possible!

We chose Tunisia because of the short flight time from Glasgow but we really didn't know what to expect. The hotel itself was lovely and the view from our room was amazing......beautiful view of the beach and sea! We have stayed at a few all inclusive hotels and this stole the crown for the fact it was 24hours! The previous places had been from set times like 10am till midnight. The staff were very friendly and the animation team put in a lot of effort throughout the day as well as the evening to entertain everyone. My partner and myself really aren't into the whole entertainment team but a lot of people there joined in and seemed to be having a ball with them.....even the cheap cheap song! The hotel is manly filled with continentals...,and they can be very rude at times like not queuing in the evenings for the food (not that the queues were very long in the first place) we never found an issue with the food....and if I can find something to eat then anyone can as I'm fussy! The only thing which I think could hack people off was the fact you could never get a sunbed unless you got up at the crack of dawn....most mornings we were down by the pool by 8 and every bed was taken! We didn't mind as there is loads of tables and chairs to chill out in the sun. The waiters round the pool were very attentive and before our drinks were finished the next cold beers were on our tables! Overall we had a great time and have already booked a cheeky week away next may with friends to this hotel!

I am not too fussy about hotels, but this one was the worst I've stayed in.

We were put in the worst part of the hotel - the oldest block, right next to the disco - we didn't get one nights sleep that wasn't interrupted by drunks.

The hotel itself was ok - certainly not 4* as advertised. It was in the middle of no-where with not much to do around it.

The only thing I would say is that the food was fairly good - the a la carte evenings are recommended!

I certainly wouldn't go back.

Room Tip: Pay extra - do not have a standard room!

We have just returned on sunday 1st September from a glorious week in the sun and this hotel.
Arrival: We arrived at the hotel following a good transfer from the airport approx. 45mins. The staff at the hotel where very warm welcoming and organised. We were given a glass of fresh orange juice and cold face flannel which was lovely. Reception manager advised rooms may be ready or not depending if the maid had been yet, however it was our choice if we wanted to place luggage in rooms. In all the countries I have travelled to I have never been given the option-well done to reception staff!!
Rooms.-We booked one standard room for our daughters. For a standard, it was as it says on the tin. Clean, comfortable and had everything a standard room would have. On top of this you were also provided with all toiletries, bathrobes and slippers. I have to say, would you get these in a standard room in England , probably not! Including a fridge.
My husband and I upgraded to a superior sea view-wow what a view and well worth the money. All of the above as a standard as well as a lounge sitting area did we use this?- No as we were in the sun all day.
Chamber maids do a excellent job, the rooms were spotless and towels changed as when you needed the same as any where else. With plenty of toilet rolls. Pretty flowers and petals in room and bed typical service from abroad. Tip and you are looked after, try and remember how much these workers are paid!!
Food,- Breakfast is your typical international choices, cereal, juices, fresh fruit, eggs, meats, cheeses. with the exception of fresh waffles, omelettes, crepes and doughnuts cooked to order call this average and you are the typical english fool. You don't go to Tunisia to get your old full English. Hats off to the pastry chef every morning as there was a wide spread selection of Danish pastries, croissants, cakes and biscuits.
Lunch can be taken at the beach bar restaurant with full waiter service and a self-service buffet. Once again a great selection of salads, pasta dishes, grilled meats such as pork chops and chicken, fish, vegetables, rice, cous-cous not forgetting the English favourite, chips. We highly recommend the beach wok bar which provides fresh noodle dishes of beef or chicken and pizza's of your choice made to order. On the beach there was also a small beach hut which served fresh burgers, Panini's, sandwiches and ice-cream.
For evening meals the main buffet restaurant is busy at prime family times, avoid 7-30pm through to 8-30pm as families with small children flood in at these times before the kids disco. There's a wide selection of international dishes varying from chicken, pasta, fish, local vegetable dishes, grilled meats made to order and a wide choice of breads. There is a huge selection of cakes and desserts, all beautifully presented though by the end of the night they had certainly been demolished. To any holiday maker disappointed with the food choice available, we question, do you eat like this every night at home? I, for one felt as if I have dined like a king.
The al a carte restaurants can be reserved a day in advance at reception in the sea view block. We highly recommend all of these restaurants, the Asian, Tunisian and Italian which all served impeccable food with excellent, with a beautiful setting.
Drink: If all inclusive, all drinks are constantly available from water to widely known cocktails to Tunisian champagne which you must request. Tip and you will be well looked after.
Outside pool: The outside pool is poor as it is very deep so not widely used by young children and adults. There are plenty of sun loungers reserved with towels, tip pool guy and he will look after your towels and beds. There is also a indoor heated pool which is mainly used when the sun is at its hottest.
The gym is slightly tired looking, with no air-conditioning and limited equipment but the man in charge is always there to make sure you are safely using the machines and do not tire yourself out in the heat.
Animation team and entertainment: For my two daughters this was probably their favourite part of the holiday as they provided a wide range of occupying activities. If you did not take advantage of these opportunities, you clearly had a wasted holiday. During the daytime, on offer was a good variety of activities ranging from archery, aerobics, darts and dancing. Many thanks to Dido, Alex, Mido, Titi, Coco, Dina, Arwa and Mimi who tried their best to get everyone involved and to enjoy their holiday. On top of this the whole animation team wandered around all of the sunbeds talking to the guests about their holiday and having just general banter. It was thoroughly enjoyable to have a normal conversation with all of them and to learn more about them as genuine beings and not just people who are being paid to force you into doing activities that you don't really want to take part in. they didn't hammer on to get you involved, if you simply shook your head they would understand. at night-time they would start off with a kids disco then about 15 minutes of club dances which my daughters enjoyed learning over the weeks holiday. The shows that would follow this were always something entertaining and enjoyable ranging from bingo, live bands, dance shows and a English movie/Broadway show which during our stay was the Lion King. The only bad comment I have was that one night the animation team put on a comedy show and one of the acts contained strong sexual references, obviously not suitable for the young child audience watching. It would have been more acceptable if shown at a later time rather than still early on. I don't see how any guest could compare this to entertainment provided in a place such as butlins as it was anything but that, you have to remember they are paid to make sure you have a good time. They made both my daughters feel very comfortable and satisfied with their holiday.
Another small complaint I have is that when I arrived neither my fridge or air-con was working but within 24hours they had fixed this problem.
Overall this has been one of our favourite holidays as all the staff made us feel very welcomed and relaxed, you have to take into consideration you are not staying in a hotel built by the western world, but by people simply trying to make a living. They are payed nowhere near the amount money we receive and it upsets me to see people complain that the staff expect a tip. Of course they do, without one they would hardly get by. These people work very long hours, especially the waiters and I think it is good enough that they joke on and smile at you rather than ignore you and are rude. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an enjoyable, relaxing holiday.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms are well worth the extra money for a wonderful view. These rooms are relaxing and...

After arriving just before midnight we were quickly shown to our room which had a kingsize bed in one room and through another door three single beds,it was clean and cool if a little tired in the decor dept but don't let that put you off! We spent most of our time by the pool, Mongee the pool guy was lovely and would save your sunbeds everyday for you, a little tipping goes a long way. Mohammed the waiter would bring you drinks all day long! The food was great and you could find something to eat anytime of the day, Panniinni man at the pool snack bar was hilarious, a great sense of humour. Norradine was the best waiter in the restaurant with his catchphrase "allright, okay?" a couple of tips and he really looked after you. All the staff were really friendly and the resort felt very safe, the kids could go off and wander about quite safely.
The animation team were brilliant! they made you feel really welcome and spoke to everyone! They didn't hassle you if you didn't want to join in. The free massage was great and the shisha pipe and mint tea in the moorish cafe was lovely. If you are thinking of going Quad biking there beware that health and safety does not exist, my husband and son found finding a crash helmet quite tricky but enjoyed getting out to see the real Tunisia. The evening entertainment was amusing, the team work sooo hard and really try but some of it is a bit cheesy! The beach is stunning, you can horse ride, camel ride, jetski, parasail e.t.c you can do as much or as little as you like. The reception staff were a bit grumpy and weren't very helpful when it came to keeping your room on or providing you with a shower room to use when you had a late flight back. A few people during our stay complained of ear trouble including my son and husband which the rep just said was swimmers ear, i think the pool was to blame but a local pharmacy is a 10 min walk away and had antibiotic ear drops that sorted the problem. All in all we had a great time and would absolutely go back, get the pool sorted and it would be even better! Thanks to Dido ,Mido, Alex, Titi and the rest of the team for making us laugh, calling us crap(at archery) and putting us through our paces at AQUAGYM!! and Waterpolo.

Had a wonderful time at this resort. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and very welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. The food was excellent with a are very large choice of many dishes. Food is available 24/7 and all food is of excellent quality. The quality of the drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) was also very good and there was also a very wide choice of these.

Room Tip: I would choose a room on the second or third floor as this was very quiet.

Great hotel, nice facilities, great range of food which changes every day. Snacks and ice cream on tap all day to keep the kids happy. There are many hotels we have stayed in like this, the single biggest difference with this hotel is the events team. If you want to be entertained, you won't be disappointed. From 11-11 there is something going on for everyone and keeping 3 boys between the ages of 5 and 13 off their nintendo's is a challenge at the best of times - the animation team here are outstanding, by far and away the best i've seen. Many thanks to Mido who helped make this the best family holiday we have had.
