“This is the best boutique hotel in Djerba, and the best restaurant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

This place is really beautiful. I couldn't recommend it more. Its so tastefully and beautifully decorated. Its such a romantic little hotel. We had supper by the pool on a couple of evenings, and the pool was filled with floating candles and they decorated our table with borganvila and jasmine.

The staff are so welcoming and friendly and really couldn't do more to make it perfect for you. They where a really special group of people.

We sadly didn't stay here, just came four times for dinner. The food is exceptional, the head chef worked in Nice (france) for quite a few years and you can tell from his food. No one does food as well as the french!! (maybe the italians!?) We had an amazing rack of lamb, beautiful steak in peppercorn sauce, slow cooked lamb with prunes and almonds. My sister works in a michlin star restaurant, so know what I'm talking about when I say the food was amazing.

I wish we had booked to stay here as it really is the most romantic and chic hotel on the island.

Having in the 10 last years many journeys in Tunisia and Morocco, in different hotels and houses, we are really falling in love with this house and her so charming "proprietaire": rooms, services, surroundings, atmosphere.

A so quiet place, with so astonishing peaceful corners, what a fantastic place.
and in addition to all that, the owner is a really ethical minded employer. a unique jewelry in this peaceful island...

Staying in the Dar Dhiafa was a very interesting enjoyable experience. We stayed two nights and were so glad we had the two rather than the one we first planned. The rooms, with their alcove double bed-spaces, were full of character. The food was excellent and all staff involved were eager to please. We had a lovely candlelit meal by the pool on our final night. Both the A la carte (pricey) and set menu were very good. (We don't know what the set menu cost as it was part of our package.) Having 1\2 bottles of wine available was a benefit to us. It was definitely worth the extra distance to the beach. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone.

Having visited several hotels in the awful, sanitized 'Zone Touristique' that stretches south of Houmt Souk, we were SO pleased we had decided to stay here instead. If you don't have a car/private transport it could be a bit of a hassle to find, but taxis should be able to locate it quite easily if you are coming from the airport or Houmt Souk. It is an atmospheric and photogenic property consisting of four old homes and it's a real breath of fresh air in a country where service is often very average at best. You are welcomed on arrival; the rooms are charming and well-maintained; the place is clean and well looked after. There's an excellent restaurant in the hotel, with friendly and efficient staff, although the prices are a little steep and I suspect a number of clients may opt to eat elsewhere. Perhaps the hotel should consider a cheaper 'set menu' to encourage its customers to eat here. This is my only criticism.
We spent 12 days in Tunisia. We stayed in Dar el Medina (Tunis), Le Kasbah (Kairouan) and Dar Said (Sidi Bou Said). Dar Dhiafa was by far the best experience.

Charming, characteristic and staff that will bend over backwards for you this is great place. Food is excellent. The rooms are full of character and a perfect pool to laze round on a sunlounger. The only thing you need to worry about is having to leave

Stayed here for four nights and really loved the place. Quiet, beautifully designed and comfortable, this was the perfect place to finish our travels across Tunisia. Welcoming staff and the restaurant team in particular were very well trained. The food was excellent, with a good choices of local produce served in a palm covered courtyard. It doesn't have the facilities of a large hotel, but frankly it doesn't need to. If your idea of a hotel is concrete, hustle and bustle and crowds, then this isn't the place for you. This hotel is about sitting in the shade, reading the paper or your book, dipping in the pool and enjoying a cheeky siesta. Perfect!

We have been told by several people in Djerba that this was the best and most expensive hotel on the island.
That said do not expect the luxury and amenities of a 5 * hotel. What we found was a charming, unique and appealing to tradition hotel, with rooms not very large, beds on the floor on top of stone platforms, tucked under a vaulted ceiling, with little furniture, stone floor with a carpet in front of the door. The bathrooms are open to the rooms (no door), very rustic, water from the shower ran with very little strength.
The rooms and common spaces are connected by a maze of small streets and charming courtyards, white and ocher, many plants ( beautiful bougainvillea), places to sit and enjoy. It has two small pools in two different areas of the hotel and an excellent Haman, we have used and recommend.
One of the nights we had dinner at the hotel, very well-placed tables in the courtyard by the pool, the service good, the food is not bad but didn´t dazzled and i consider it an expensive dinner for Tunisian prices (85 euros per couple with wine). We were not fans of fish and shellfish we eat in several Tunisian sites. Our (Portuguese) is incomparably better.
Breakfast is served in the hotel's courtyards, a small buffet with basic things, yougurt, bread baguette, cheese, jams (try the fig). Simple, but good quality.
We had a problem during our stay, our room have been flooded (luckily not spoil anything), we were moved to a suite (the Emir) which seemed to be under renovation and I did not like it, and we just got back to our room (Princess Gemma) because going out for dinner on the second day we talked about it with the owner of the hotel who apparently knew nothing. We believe that these situations happen, but this one could have been better resolved.
If you decide to stay at this hotel it is important to make sure you like this kind of hotels (which is our case) for example one of the friends in our group did not like because she found the rooms claustrophobic, however my husband and I liked very much the bed on the floor under the arch, so it's really a matter of taste - for those who enjoy this type of experience is very interesting and recommend , to anyone who does not is better not to go.

Room Tip: We liked the rooms with beds on the floor under the arch. Ours was Princess Gemma and it was nice. I...
