Well...... I have to say that the hotel was definitley 4 star and our accomodation was lovely, we can look out over the swimming pool and the weather was so sunny, even warm in October.
The airport was clean, posh but we had to wait over a hour queuing to get our Visa stamped, we was back of the queue!!
On the first day of our arrival, we had storms, ongoing lightening and thunder thoughout for the few nights, lucky we were deaf so we couldnt hear but can feel it. We also had flash floods as well, it was about 4pm on a Tuesday when the storms opened, it was pounding and noisy, we were staying on 2nd floor, the 3rd floor didnt had a roof over it, so the rain went down the stairs onto the 2nd floor, it ended up flooding, the lift looked dangerous as there was water running down. Poor chambermaid, she looked so stressed trying to prevent water into rooms. It ended up okay, but thoughout the night, we had water going into our room, so we has to get up in our PJs, trying to flush away the water, but eventually we put towels on the door and went to bed! Next day, our room was okay as the water eventually drained away (really poor drainage system out there) the couple next door has their room flooded, luckily not ours as we put the towels down to stop water getting through. The reception was really wet, the resturantant was wet, the walls was wet as well....but the nexy few days was hot, so i cant complain though....I could start waffling on but I'll move on to food!!
Food - limited choices, no CHIPS everyday!!! We were glad to be on half board as the food was so rubbish! The food signs was in french, german and one language, but no English so we have to rely on our sense and looking at the food. I was basically became a veggie all week, living on pototoes, rices, bread, eggs and pasta, at the end of the week, there were chicken which i was happy about it but it was RAW when i started to cut it, then it put me off. My partner has some red meats but it was raw as well. I started to have stomach upsets, it is now 3 days since we came home, I am off work with stomach upsets, still going to the toilet, I feel like if my stomach is making knots. So be aware of the food, especially chicken, and meats.
The reception was okay, mostly fluent in French, German etc... there was about 20 British in this resort alone. This was the first time I felt it was strange, because usually when we go aboard, the British come first but the hotel was so dominated by the French, we has diffucutlies getting through the reception, plus on top that we were deaf as well, lucky we could use sign language to explain what we need.
Getting a taxi to Midoun is alot cheaper than going to the excursions, Panorama offered 10 dinars per person (4 GBP) and again communication problems with the rep, we ended up getting a taxi on our own, it was 3 dinars each way!! Good job we didnt spend 20 dinars on the excurison!
Outside the hotel, nothing much to explore, only hotels next door, few shops and an Italian resturant, which we been twice for well-deserved proper food. There is a beach nearby but rough so we didnt go there to sunbath.
I would say this will be a better hotel if they will serve better food and proper cooking as well.
Overall, I would not go back to Djerba for a long time but Tunisa - I definitley prefer Tunisa, beautiful country.
