We stumbled upon the Brass Tacks and after a quick glance at the menu and finding the place half full we thought it might be good but were horribly wrong. The service was friendly but slow with only two waitresses. The younger of the two seemed to hover around one table ignoring others leaving the brunt of the work to our waitress. As we ordered we found that quite a few items on the menu and Specials board they were out. Our food came quickly and at first glance I knew why, it was all frozen foods. When I eat out I want fresh and something better then I can make myself. We started off with the fried mushrooms which were frozen from a bag with a thick unable to dip sauce. As for my meal, I had the fried chicken and it was all bun, the chicken patty looked like a Tyson patty! My girl had a burger and as well a frozen patty which had a nasty gray color to it. Both of our meals were served with a weak serving of chips which tasted like they had been left out to long. We complained about our food and our waitress took one meal off the bill, which took forever to get. Being an ex chef I don’t know how they are in business. Its not hard to serve great food, starts with passion, fresh ingredients and making the food from scratch. With the location this place could kill it with a make over of course.
