Selected Holland Street Bistro as our Saturday night dinner spot based on it being #2 in the location's TripAdvisor reviews. Since the four of us all like prime rib, and Saturday nights the Bistro has prime rib as their special, we decided to go there for dinner.
Our server, a very nice young lady named Madeline, was a new employee in the last two weeks or so, having just moved into the area from Germany. She did whatever she could to make sure we were well taken care of. Most of our party of four like the end cut of prime rib, and it is not always easy to accommodate that request unless it is a big restaurant specializing in standing rib roasts. Well, we probably drove the chef crazy, but three of us got the requested end cut based on Madeline's perseverence. She could not have been more helpful. She was very polite and quite attentive; she will do well with her new job. She even took a photo of our group upon request, which was a nice touch.
The food itself was average for that kind of dinner, but even so we dined well. Three of four of the group took home a "doggy bag" with what they hadn't eaten. Me, I made a pig of myself and ate the whole thing. I did not leave hungry.
The atmosphere was fine. We dined inside since the day's weather had been uncooperative with rain, wind, bone-chilling dampness, and low temperatures. Had the weather been nicer and had we been able to dine out on the deck, it would have been perfect.
