“A great get-away in comfort and old world style!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

When we decided to take a few days in Alexandria Bay in August of 2013, I looked up Bonnie Castle and read some favorable reviews and a few not so favorable. I was a little concerned, but the recommendation from a friend who had recently stayed at the resort, convinced us to give it a try. We were not disappointed.
The staff at the resort were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our Jacuzzi room was clean and comfortable, and looked as if it had been recently updated. Comfortable king sized bed, cozy linens, fluffy bath towels, new air conditioning unit, and of course TV and fridge, and coffee pot, etc.
The dining room was lovely, possessing the kind of old-world elegance and charm you don't often find in the "fast food" world of today. And the view was unbeatable! We looked directly across the river at Boldt Castle as we dined. The Point Grill - also part of the resort - has a nice outdoor deck for dining right on the water! The food was very good, the prices were fair, and the servers delightful. I had one server who went way out of her way to attend to my special dietary needs - all with a congenial demeanor and a smile on her face. We did have to wait once or twice, but we were in no rush. It was vacation, we were relaxing and the non-hectic pace in the dining facilities added to that atmosphere.
The indoor pool was a tad odd - not really for swimmers, but there was a hot tub. The outdoor pool, on the other hand, was beautiful and super clean. We did have to walk a ways to get to it from our room, but that kind of thing doesn't bother us when our goal is to relax. We explored the grounds. Simply beautiful! The gazebo looked like the perfect place to get married! There are decks and walkways around the buildings that have great vantage points for viewing Boldt Castle, a light house, and the river. The bar and banquet room look like they could use some updating. Looks like they came right out of the 1970s, but the room also could probably hold a very large party.
On the whole, we had a wonderful stay, and would definitely go back. The rates were comparable to others in the area, the room was clean and comfortable, the staff were gracious, patient and made us feel at home. And the proximity to the downtown area is really convenient. Everything we wanted to do was in walking distance, so we never had to worry about parking in the village. We'd definitely recommend it!

Room Tip: There are rooms on the water if you want the view, but the price is of course higher. We stayed on...

We are so pleased to hear of your nice stay, and glad that you enjoyed your vacation. Our Facility has the best views of Boldt Castle in all of the Thousand Islands and our property is very unique. We are proud of the owners accomplishments so far, and we still have alot to come:
Thank You Again

Super relaxing. I even had a room "in the back" (next to the marina) Super clean and comfortable. The restaurant is GREAT! Pricy maybe but the best view of the castle other than in the castle itself. Service and manners were down home and elegant. Then at night the bar is latterly built into the cliff. Very cool. and again the best view of the castle. I cant stay anywhere else. I didn't get in the pool because its too cold for me that far north, but that didn't stop anyone else. A great hideaway.

Room Tip: few have a view but everything is just outside and with-in walking

First the good: very friendly staff, clean room and sheets. The bay is beautiful and we saw a otter in the water?
The bad: Probably the worst thing was the loud air compressor noise on the other side of the wall. We booked in late and had to get up early, and found it very difficult to sleep as something was kicking on every 30 minutes or so. It was so loud that it woke us out of a dead sleep every time. Not sure what it was but it was a very loud mechanical sound.
The bed looked like a fold out bed. It was a king that looked like two full size fold up beds pushed together? The furniture in general was old and mismatched, and the drapes fell off when pulled back.
For the price, one would expect more.

I must apologize for your lack of sleep. We were very busy the Saturday that you were here and the only King size Bed that we had left was that of a Murphy Bed right next to the Maintenance Shop. A Murphy Bed is a Flip Down from a wall unit and very dated indeed. We are in the process of renovating rooms and be assured that this room is on the list. Hopefully you will try us again, and please feel free to contact me for further questions or comments. Thank You

I won a night's stay. You can tell right off how old the resort is but at same time you can see effort being made by new owners on updating and modernizing the resort. The room itself was very clean and comfortable. The Jacuzzi was a nice addition and being next to the pool and lakeside was also a nice addition. The restaurants they have are quit high but they were busy so that didn't seem to bother the patrons they had the night i was there.

First the general manager, I guess that is what she was not a very friendly person, we had a problem with a smell in our room and she said well there is nothing we can do about it. Did not offer to move us to another room, maybe they all have that smell ( sewer like). Most of the other staff was friendly and willing to accommodate our needs. I understand they are under new ownership, I hope they will make changes where they are really needed. Good location and view of the castle.

Room Tip: Some of the people on staff not real friendly, the price! well you get what you pay for. The view of...

My only complaint is that our room smelled like a can of Raid had just been emptied in there. The restaurant was great and the highlight for us. One of the best steaks I've had, all with an overview of Boldt Castle across the river in the twilight. Was pretty cool.
The "pub" downstairs had a great beer on tap. ADK Pale Ale. I love trying microbrews and this was one of the best I've ever had.
We were in a jacuzzi room but never got a chance to use it. The king bed was great, and the pillows were perfect, something I often complain about at hotels!
I can see how people would think this is dated, but if you take the time to just take it for what it is and enjoy your time, you shouldn't be disappointed.
