“Excellent food & service...with a beautiful view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

My husband and 2 children ate at The Manor House tonight for dinner. The food was delicious, the service was great and the view of the castle and the St. Lawrence can be seen from every table--beautiful!. What a great dining experience. Prices were very reasonable. The manager was visiting tables to check on guests. Highly recommend!

Myself and (2) long time girlfriends stayed @ Bonnie Castle for one night Thurs 7/19 - Fri. 7/20. One friend had her own room directly across from ours. All the beds had fresh linen which was a plus. Personally, I was a little disappointed in the appearance of the tennis court and pool areas.

The check in and out times could improve. We also asked the Front Desk staff if there was any discount rates for Seniors. The Front Desk staff was friendly and helpful which we liked. The Sports Bar bartender was great in serving us.

I have first hand knowledge of Alex Bay along w/my friends. We started going there when my parents owned a home on the Point of Iroquois Island many, many yrs. ago. Matter of fact the "Ridleys" were neighbors of ours.

Before my friends and left we asked a man if he'd take some pics of us - he agreed. We began talking and was I shocked to learn he knew my parents very well. Meeting him meant the world to me as both of my parents are gone now.

Had a great time and looking forward to coming there next summer.

Our room had a beautiful water view and had been renovated. There was a small balcony with two chairs to enjoy the view. It was so small, you had to almost climb over one chair to get to the other chair. It was still very basic for the price, but the bed and bedding was clearly new and comfortable. The room had a small fridge and wet bar area with a coffee pot. I had to ask for and ironing board and iron, but received it quickly. There was a large, two person Jacuzzi in the room. The room was very clean and was cleaned well each day.
There are two pools. One indoor, that we didn't see. The outdoor pool looked clean and was hardly used.
The "resort" advertises three restaurants. We went to one the first night and attempted to order dinner and were told that there was no cook, but the fryer was on. Very disappointing.
We had breakfast at the Manor restaurant. The décor has not been updated in decades. It does have a gorgeous view of the water and Boldt Castle. The menu, prices and service were average. For the view alone, it's worth a visit. It would probably be a nice spot for a sunset dinner.
We had drinks at The Point, overlooking the water. We were very disappointed that they closed at 9pm. There were many of us left that would have stayed.
Walking through the halls, the hotel is showing its age. Paint is chipping, carpet is old, musty smell. I get the sense that much of Alex Bay is worn down.

Room Tip: Water view rooms are worth the extra money.

For the price they charge, it should be so much nicer. They have done some renovations, but i don't believe they did them well. Our room was ok to look at, but there were several things that didnt work and the set up of the bathroom was extremely awkward. There are no irons or ironing boards in the rooms (the closet didn't have doors) so you have to get the front desk to find you one. If they are all out, good luck.
I wouldn't say it was absolutely horrible, but I wouldn't pay what they are asking for that type of lodging again.

Thank you for your recent Trip to Bonnie Castle, I hope that you can see we are trying to improve every aspect of the Resort. We have already replaced all the P-Tacs, Beds, Linens, TV`s and desk and balcony chairs. Most rooms have gone through a complete stripping of the room and have been fixed and painted including many Bathroom overhauls. We are a older facility that we are putting alot of TLC back into. It will take us some time to do a complete overhaul but we are in the process. We hope that you will try us again for a future stay.

We paid over $200. It was disgusting! Smells bad, very old, nothing updated. If you can find another place, please go there! The smell in the halls and room are a mix of smoke & mold-just terrible! Tennis courts are beat up, didn't use pool-looked fine.

I enjoyed my time with some old friends at Bonnie Castle last week. The accommodations were great and the staff was wonderful. Clean rooms and we were quite pleased with the changes the new management has made throughout the facility. We were however very saddened to see the menu changes that were made at The Manor House Restaurant. They are clearly the same recipes and dishes that have been served at another restaurant that I have been going to for the last 22 years. We hope that management would have the respect and business ethics to take those dishes off their menu. I have faith that they will after hearing so many great things about the new management group.
