I stayed only for one night in this hotel, however I had a very good impression.

The rooms are large and clean, the bed is comfy and the bathroom was tidy. There is a bar and a restaurant attached to the hotel; free and fast WiFi is available all over. The location is right in the middle of the town, lots of bars, shopping opportunities and markets just around the corner. I can't say anything about the food or the breakfast as we had to leave early in the morning to catch our flight...will certainly try it out next time as this will be the hotel of my choice in Udon Thani from now on. Before we always stayed in a different hotel (Napalai), but City Lodge is far superior in terms of price, quality and location.

My title sums it up, Dan the owner is an absolute star, he made me feel really welcome and looked after all my needs. The rooms are clean and tidy, with warm modern decor. Amenities include air con, large flat screen TV, which had a full fair of news, sports and movie channels, in several languages. Wi Fi was excellent with a fast connection.

The lounge / bar / games room is comfortable and also had excellent wifi.

This place is well located, shopping, night markets, bus station, train station, expat bars, restaurants, doctor and cinema are all within easy walking distance/

Well done Dan.

Stayed 6 weeks. Couldn't have asked for more. Dan, the owner, is very accommodating and just a great person. It felt like home. Rooms are large, well appointed and beds are extremely comfortable. Restaurant serves delicious food. Best bang for the baht in Udon. Will definitely be back.

The owner was nice until my travel partners found out they'd been robbed of considerable $ here. The video footage showed exactly who had entered the rooms and it was only the staff, we had the local police and reporters look in to the thefts so it should be on the local Udon Thani news.

BEWARE of this place and please report thefts to the local authorities.

Room Tip: Think again before you book here!

I thought David, your Mum and yourself were very nice too.
As per the police report they were concerened with the following:Alledged theft was realised at 7.30pm and nothing was mentioned until 10 am the next day.You had my private contact details.
A different amount was mentioned initially from the report. They also werent sure why you had $6000 left in a bag unattended when we advise all guests to leave anything valuable in the rec safe.In addition $1200 was alledgedly taken from the $6000 not the entire amount. All Citylodge staff reported for work the following day and police were satisfied with their investigation.h

The hotel appeared to be in a great location and was clean and tidy, rooms were large and OK for a small hotel of this type, please note only stairs, no lift so some may prefer other sites if they dont like climbing stairs. On first arriving we were warmly greeted by Dan and initially the service was fantastic and seemed great. Sadly our experience was a poor one because of the theft of a large sum of money from our room, and also from my mothers room as well as there were 3 parties staying in 3 separate rooms for our group. There were only 4 staff including the Manager/operator - Dan.
We werent told of a safe being availble at reception for valuables and there was no notice of responsibility of items left in room. It was only after the theft that he informed us of a safe at reception being available.
Upon informing the Manager of the theft we went through a process and reported the theft to police who came and completed their investigation. Not a nice experience.
Camera surveillance showed apart from ourselves the Manager, cleaner, engineer and Manager's ex wife entering our rooms, and yet the Manager even suggested my partner could have taken the money, as she was in the room apart from them, OMG!!!
If your happy to have your room potentially entered and yoru things gone through then hey no problem, however I dont appreciate being told, " Hey they could have taken everything, your lucky they didnt take the lot."
A notice is now on the board at reception about responsibility of belongings left in room, and he tried to tell us it was always there, we saw him write it up while the Police were there and they also saw him writing it on the board.
I definitely wont be recommending this Htel to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would you?

Room Tip: Dont leave anything in your room of value, it wont be there when you get back or maybe a litle bit l...

As per the previous post I thought you guys were very nice and enjoyed your company and particularly your Mum.
However I am as perplexed as the local police as to why you would leave $6000 cash left unattended in a room.
In addition why $1000 was alledgedly missing and not the entire amount.
Please note as per the first and second police reports very clearly state that ALL CITY LODGE STAFF were considered by the police to be completely clear with regard to this matter and if you take great note you will see who they belive did.
I trust your future travels are more comfortable and wish you and your family only the very best including your Thai girlfriend.
Dan

This guesthouse was recommended to me after I checked two other small hotels in the same neighborhood which where fully booked. I paid 750 baht for roomnr 2. The room was large and comfortable. The hot water boiler in the bathroom was broken. There was no waterspray for the toilet (normally this is standard in every bathroom in Thailand). They painted the guesthouse/rooms in some special colors (some will like it, some will not like it). Personally I thought it was nice, but the paintjob was badly done. Free internet and WIFI available. Overall this guesthouse is ok.
