“Classy resort overlooking the Andaman sea.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

This brand new Pullman is located on a hill in a what was considered as a forest reserve, creating problems with the National Parks Dept and explaining partially the openings delay. The contempory thai architecture with its refined design and relaxing shades in grey / olive is very successful but the resort is not finished yet and there is much to be done to make the whole property flawless, in particular the gardens and the fountains where a brown water is now stagnating. The rooms are disseminated in several buildings ( some still in construction ) and depending of the type of the room, you have 2 or 3 steep inclines to climb from the lobby. However you have the possibility to order a tuk-tuk if you are loaded or not very sporty.
Lobby: beautiful open space with terrific view on the sea. I liked the design much.
Room: I stayed in a Grand Ocean room located in a small storey building housing 4 rooms, just over the Pool Villas. Enough space altough the huge bed occupies the center of the room. Nice balcony with stunning view. Very quiet, a real beautiful and peaceful place for the eyes and the soul. At night you only hear the song of crickets and frogs (!) The rest is quiet conventional with Nespresso machine, iron station, safe, mini-bar, big-screen TV, large bathroom with separate shower / bathtub / toilets. Nothing missed except the Ipod deck and the DVD player. Excellent free Wi-Fi.
Breakfast: good choice of hot/ cold dishes and fruits, croissants, home made yogourths, but did not vary much in the period of my stay.
Pool: splendid with amazing view on the beach and the sea, but can get crowdy and noisy sometimes ( children's cries and tears ). The shower is still not installed and the people are going to bath covered with their sweat and suncreen...
Spa: not tested as not opened.
Fitness: not finished yet, just a tiny room with 2 machines as temporary fitness. I left my sport clothes in the suitcase...
Beach: access trough a steep thai-foot shaped staircase. Not finished yet, but you can use the free hotel shuttle. This beautiful sandy beach is no more that one you can see on old pictures. Now there are sunbeds all along and a population mainly composed of Russian tourists ( 90 % ). However, only 50%, sometimes 30% of the sunbeds were occupied. The sea can be dangerous for children because of the big waves and the steep descent into the sea.
I lIKED: 1) the stylish and elegant atmosphere.2) The view from the bed in Grand Ocean room, just incredible when I woke up.3) The drinks in the lobby bar at the sunset.4) The infinity pool.5) The quiet location.
I DISLIKED: 1) Reception: the lack of professionalism from the reception staff, due to a the lack of English skills ( with some exceptions ) and to a lack of communication between the members of the staff. One says one thing, the other the opposite. Nobody was waiting for me at the airport trough a booked limousine transfer. I never got any explanation for this during my stay.2) Room : the too hot duvet, more appropriate for swiss mountains.3) Pool: the sunbeds are packed together, no intimacy. Sometimes loud. 4) Breakfast: „fresh“ juices aren’t really fresh but with chemical taste. Not enough cuttery: you must use the same knife and the same fork during your entire brekfast because the waiters dont remove them. Or you must ask every time to change or wipe the cuttery by yourself. 5) Mosquitoes: there are a lot and everywhere after 6pm. The electronic repellent provided by the hotel in the room is completely inefficient as well as my 2 repellent devices I bought in Bangkok. Only a good DEET spray worked. 6) Le Club Accor members : no special attention or care, no personalised welcome or drinks vouchers such I got in others hotels according to my Platinum status.

In summary, a good place to stay as a couple or as a group once the construction achieved. But only for short relaxing holidays, since there are nothing to do in the surroundings. I felt rested and bored after 1 week. The Grand Ocean rooms are my favorite, and the best value for money contrary to the Pool Villas who are a bit overpriced I think ( for that price, better go to Bang Tao ).

Dont forget a good book, some DVD’s and an efficient DEET spray.

Room Tip: The best rooms are the Grand Ocean Rooms located in buildings 15, 16 and 17

Dear EtansGeneva,

Thank you for taking the time to write and rating our resort a classy. We value our guest comments as they help us achieve our vision of creating a New Attitude hotel Guest Love.

I take onboard your comments with regard to your dislikes and have also spoken with each team individually to find solutions to your comments.

The front office team have agreed to take more English lessons to ensure they get better at a second language and to ensure there is no miscommunication. We have also changed the way we handle our limo transfers.

As our rooms are air-conditioned we slected a duvet that allows guest to feel comfortable when sleeping. We are in the process of spreading our sunbeds out so it feels more private and the Chef is now looking at some different suppliers for Juices as we pride ourselves on breakfast.

As a Le Club Platinum member I apoligise you did not get your complimentary drink but I promise you, I have a cocktail with your name on it waiting for you when you are next in Phuket.

Check In. Chill Out.

We booked the Grand Ocean room through Agoda but they fail to inform you that the hotel is still in 'soft opening' phase. As a result the grounds are still being landscaped and services like fitness centre and spa are out of service. However the hotel does compensate for this by providing access to a neighbouring hotels gym and offering spa services in the comfort of your room. The therapists were brilliant and went a long way to making up for some of the rough edges of a soft opening.

We did complain to Agoda as their website was very misleading as they fail to notify you that the hotel is in a soft opening. Therefore in the room we were initially in, you could here some construction noise. The duty manager Sandra recognized this and helped us find a better room a little more removed from the hustle and bustle of the landscaping and with a better view.

The food was great, the service was always with a smile...sometimes literally (Our waitress was called Smile).

The views are wonderful. The pool overlooks onto the beach. There are great chill out spots where you can enjoy happy hour whilst watching the sunset.

Overall the hotel was beautiful and relaxing. The staff were great and they really did make you feel at home. I would definitely recommend a stay here. Once it's fully complete it will be an even better hotel.

Dear Chetnab,

Firstly thank you for your giving us a 5 star rating. I would like to apologise that you wer not informed as we have tried as much as possible to let our business partner know we are in our soft opening phase.

I am glad to hear that the rest of your stay with us was as expected and you can be assured I will pass on you comments to our spa team, Sandra & Smile for living our vision of creating an experience Guests Love.

We look forward to welcoming you back to "Our Beach House Your Holiday Home" in the near future and I thank you for taking the time to post your comments.

Everything is good. We plan to relax and enjoy without moving too much because we came Phuket many times already. Pool is nice and we did enjoy it. The rooms were very good, nice and clean. I love Netpresso machine and the complimentary soft drinks. TV was nice as well (although we brought many DVDs with us just to find there was no DVD player). Wifi in room had good speed. Breakfast choices and timing were excellent. 11 AM time for breakfast was just our time!

However, here're what might have been better!
1. The bed was uneven (room 318). We detected it the last day. It's concave in the middle.
2. Some of facilities were not ready yet. We expected everything in the web available but there was only 1 pool (instead of 3) and no spa room yet. The Deli for dessert was not there.
3. Duvet was very warm. A bit too warm actually.
4. There was only one restaurant available and when it got crowded there was delay.

Dear Traveller
Many thanks for taking the time to share your experience. We are glad you enjoyed the overall stay, the Nespresso Machine and complimentary soft drinks in our Ocean rooms are great facility to enhance the room experience. We also take onboard the issues you have highlighted – the bed in your room is actually a super king size made up of two beds to give the feeling of luxury at large! We investigated your comment and found that the beds had not been joined properly –we have rectified this – many thanks for bringing it to our attention. We are as you say in soft opening period currently and we are opening the resort fully over the next few months. Regarding the Warm Duvet we take the feedback on board and are looking into a Duvet menu to assist any guest who finds the same problem with them being too warm. We have DVD players available for guests in rooms on request and we will have this updated as part of the information given to our gusts on check in.

Your feedback has been very helpful to us and we will implement the changes to continue our journey of the new attitude hotel that guests love.
We look forward to welcoming you back to enjoy the late breakfast!
Tropical Regards

This is a brand new hotel, and therefore the room was quite good. However, the hotel is not complete and there are some construction under way. Also, many staff do not speak English and this made it difficult on one occasion when the toilet broke down. I asked the staff to disinfect the area but it is not clear this was done.

Other than that, the hotel was quite decent, and all staff were doing their best to be helpful

Dear Traveller
Many thanks for taking the time to post your review. As you say we are in a Soft Opening period and our facilities are not quite complete. We have also noted your comment about the standard of English. In this case the staff member did not want to offend by questioning the guest, we are training the team to highlight any communication difficulty to our duty managers so that any confusion can be avoided in the future. We do have Thai, English, French, German, Russian, Swiss and Chinese speakers available should the need arise– thanks for highlighting this concern, without this kind of feedback we would not be able to continue to improve.
Thank you also for recognizing our staff being helpful – I will be delighted to pass this comment on also.

We stayed in March for 3 days - the hotel was nearing completion (some landscaping work was still ongoing), but that didn't matter much - in fact it helped the stay as it was only 1/3-1/2 occupied so no crowds yet. The resort is brand new and well finished, staff was very helpful. Setting is awesome and the beach is probably one of the best in Phuket - small size , great sand, and not overly developed. Along the beach you have local restaurants serving fresh fish and tropical cocktails.

Many thanks for taking the time to post your review. As you say we are in a Soft Opening period and our facilities are not quite complete. We are aiming to have all facilities open in the next few months. Our spacious rooms are all designed to give the true beach house holiday feel and the comment about superb staff is a delight to see- I will take pleasure in passing this comment on our team.
Breakfast is a very big hit here at the resort – the choices of Western and Asian Cuisine combined make sure there is something on offer for everybody. Take your time too – breakfast is served until 11 am.

We stayed in a really beautiful furnished sea view Grand Ocean room for 8 nights in march 2013 . The rooms are specious and comfortable , with a very wide nice bed ( enough space for 4 ) - Bathrooms are big , with seperat WC and shower and a nice bathtub, would prefer a jacuzzi :o) . We had complimentary espresso , soft drinks and water in our room .
Rooms are so clean and luxury , the cleaner changed our covers and pillowcases every day. The pool and lobby area are just amazing and gorgeous , staff are so friendly ,always smiling and helpful. Breakfast was great with plenty of differrent choices from all over the world and lots of delicious thai fruits . Once we had dinner at the wonderful italian restaurant on the terrace where you can enjoy your meal with a stunning sunset view .
Naithon Beach is a splendid and quiet beach with great choices of local food , specialities and thai massage for almost no money .

Dear dr-Peyman

Thank you for posting your review, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay at the resort. Great to hear you thought the views from the Lobby & Pool area of the resort overlooking Naithon beach and Andaman Sea were amazing . A “new attitude hotel that guests love” is the mantra our staff are living by and I definitely will pass your compliments on to them-.The Culinary team have worked hard on our breakfast choice and have put a lot of effort into the selection of delicacies from both Western and Eastern flavours.

We look forward to welcoming you back to enjoy the sunset dining at Vero and of course chilling out in your new found holiday home.
