Booked through latestays for 1350 Baht per night for their apartments in the high season, normal prices are 1900 Baht. We thought that the "correct" price should have been 1000 Baht or so. However be aware that this is in line with the rest of the hotels and restaurants that offer really poor value for money compared to other areas of S.Thailand such as Krabi or Samui...
Firstly don't be fooled by the pics on the webiste. The rooms, etc. do not look that glamorous and are infact pretty sterile. There are no throws on the sofa or the bed, there are no cushions for the sofa. When we asked for some, they said "No cushions". The apartments are advertised as having kitchenettes; this means you get a sink, with some cupboards (no cutlery, crockery or pans!), and a water boiler. There's no microwave or anything to cook with, so not sure what they mean by a kitchenette (waste of space!)? Although they issue the rooms with industrial water boilers, they don't give you any tea, coffee, sugar, milk, etc.. You'd think you'd get good quality towels if you're paying 1900 a night but we got stained & threadbare ones instead. "All same same."
Free WiFi but no machines to access internet if you don't have your own laptop. Also for 1900 a night, there's no generator so when the lights go out you'll be in the dark; hot & sweaty! "No discount...".
The pool is of a reasonable size. Between the 44 rooms you have 4 sunbeds! There were queues when we were there! Also there's no shade other than the two trees by the pool. "No umbrellas". The restaurant is really, really terrible. They have a lot listed on the menu but not a lot in stock. "No croissants, no cheese, no fruit, no juice, no syrup for pancakes, no spaghetti sauce". One time you can let it pass, surely you'd think they'd re-stock for the next day. NO! The worst bit is if you ask for something tweaked e.g. scrambled eggs with mushrooms (can't ask for cheese as they didn't have any) you'll be charged extra as they only do plain scrambled eggs; but will be ready to charge you full price for a cheese sandwich even though there's no cheese in it!
Location wise, it takes 20 min to walk to Surin beach, 30 min to Laem Singh beach and 30 min to Bang tao beach. There's one mall nearby with one restaurant in it; and a few more restaurants along the Surin beach stretch. If you're planning to travel around take note that you'll be paying an additional 250 a day for a moped or 800 for a car, on top of your 1900!
The staff are a mixed bunch, few are friendly whilst others couldn't care less...
We only stayed here as it's the cheapest we could find in Phuket. The Best Western with direct beach access was offering 2,000 a night so if we hadn't got the discount we'd have probably stayed there.
