“Beautiful & Calm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

It has nice beach. Don't miss sunset.
Catch beach club is pretty good also.
Even it's raining, the resort is very fantastic.
Pool is cool & 24 hrs opened!
But I hope they would renovate inside pool lighting as brand new resort.
No matter with someone, it's good choice.

We were introduced to Twin Palms by a Bangkok friend, and were also particularly keen because it belongs to the SLH branding, which we particularly like. Over the last 3/4 years, we have stayed there on many occasions and they have always been most pleasant. The staff are very friendly and service is always outstanding. It is really hard to beat. The rooms are really nice, especially the ones with direct access into the lagoon. The overall ambience of the resort is excellent. Good location too! Away from the very touristy areas.

The breakfast buffet is always good, and even though the dining room is set back not too far from the road, it is well suited for a leisurely breakfast before you start the day.

Needless to say, we will be back, and infact are already planning our next trip to Phuket for later in the year. And we will no doubt be staying at Twinpalms yet again.

Chose to stay in twinpalms after reading the numerous reviews of the place on tripadvisor. We got a complimentary upgrade and also an early check in which was really nice as we had a cranky 6 year old with us. The pool is nice and kid safe as non swimming adults like my wife can "walk" with them all over the pool as it is only 1.5 m at the deep end. Pool food is nice and reasonably priced though not cheap. The room itself the upgraded one would have really only royalty complaining about it if at all. The WiFi was not only free but also more than adequately fast and the catch beach club to which you get complimentary entry is as close as you can get to a private beach on Surin beach. Choose the rooms on the upper level as the pool rooms include substantial loss of privacy. The staff is also amazingly friendly and if you have ever stayed in Europe, where the staff treat you like freight luggage, this place is the anti thesis. Best of all, Surin beach is really family friendly and mercifully free of the Russian drunks and the cheap tourists that Patong beach seems to attract in droves.

However, the food at Oriental Spoon is not really authentically Thai if you know your Thai cuisine and also a bit overpriced. The resort does not really offer anything extra for kids ( to their credit , neither do they claim to). The access to Catch club is through a weird grass patch which can have stray dogs roaming over it .

Overall, I would still recommend without any hesitation this place to any of my couple/single friends but for family with kids under 10, there might be other options

Room Tip: Go for the higher rooms to value your privacy Also for massage, opt for the Mandarin Spa just out...

On arrival we were informed that we had been upgraded from a lagoon room to a Deluxe duplex and we thought - oh yeah, whatever, everybody probably has as we were there for a wedding. Well, when we entered the room we spun out! It was huge and amazing! Own private pool - yes a little cold but who cares when you can indulge in some skinny dipping whenever you want which is a good thing in the humidity. The design of the room was superb we marvelled at the straight lines and how every little detail fitted in with the overall design - felt a bit like we were on The Block! We had our own host - Chart - who was lovely. The main pool was awesome and the grounds and foyer just beautiful. Breakfast - fantastic. Cocktails - hmm, not so good - I had my Expresso Martini served in a nice glass one night but the next night my Sex On The Beach was served in a chunky clunky non elegant glass - I was not impressed. The ladies like special shaped glasses please! Yes the food/drinks are a little expensive but hey it's a 5 star resort. Not far to walk to the beach which was a bit woolly while we were there. The wedding (my partners daughter) was superb - they were going to have it on the beach but the weather was not so good so it was set up in the pagoda. The floor was sprinkled with petals, there were baskets of petals to throw, fans were handed out to the ladies and a huge arch of flowers and 2 topiary flower stands - orchids, lillies, roses - amazing! They have chairs covered in white material and music. It was beautiful. The reception was at the Catch Club - it was fantastic - the food was awesome and we had a dance arfterwards. The whole thing was great. The ladies had hair and makeup done beforehand and it was great - everyones hair was amazing. Special mention to the hairdresser who also did the brides makeup - a talented lady boy! Overall this hotel is awesome - you may just not want to leave! Regarding children - my partners son did not book to stay here as at the time there was an unwritten but strongly communicated no child policy and his child is 7 months old - that has changed and there were plenty of children here and young ones too. Yes, they are noisy in the pool - so if you choose a lagoon pool room be aware they open out onto the pool area and if noisy kids in the pool at 7am bother you - you may want to choose to book a deluxe duplex room instead which are hidden behind and not right on the pool - or even splash out on the Presidential Suite which is well behind and away from the pool. Also I am not a smoker - and this resort had plenty of smoking Aussies staying in the lagoon rooms (and you know what I mean by Aussies - G'day mate, throw a snag on the barbie and knock back a few beers style of people) - so if having neighbours like this bothers you please book a deluxe duplex room instead - which is totally private and enclosed. In general - I would prefer if this resort had no smoking in the rooms - I guess around the pool you can't stop people smoking. Be aware too this resort had 3 weddings in the 3 days we were there which means there are often groups of guests who know eachother - they then gather in eachothers room drinking/partying/talking so they can be a bit noisy.

Room Tip: Choose a deluxe duplex or splash out on the presidential suite, be prepared to put up with smokers...

Took 2 penthouse side by side. With my family.
Not suitable for kids as there aren't any activities.
A bit pricey overall and location is far away from town (shopping zonal)
Took their tour guide to a few places:
Karon viewpoint, waterfall, big buddha on top of a hill, Chalong temple...
Good for couple. but not fantastic.
No rooms or door as it is open concept for penthouse so totally not suitable for family.
Beach is total disappointing as the sea waves from that area is too choppy. no one has been there to have fun at the beach according to the locals there. more to patong area.

Room Tip: I took 2 penthouse, advise is take higher level of room. not ground floor.

Drinks are very expensive (as is the food) but you're paying for the ambience. The music is brilliant. They also have live entertainment. The pool is beautiful, huge and picturesque. The sun loungers are very comfy! The food at the pool bar is lovely and not too expensive, compared to other hotel pool bars in Thailand. Wi FI is free 24/7 in whole of hotel, including room and beach club. Never had a connection problem!

Stayed in the presidential suite. It was the biggest room i have ever seen, and for that price you're not going to get any better value.

Pool was on the top floor, was beautiful. Room was 400sqm, HUGE, everything about it was awesome. From the pickup at the airport, to check in, to checking out.

Breakfast was excellent! the spread was diverse, the food was fresh, lots of juices! One of the best breakfasts ive had.

Just a stroll away from the Catch Beach Club, the walk from the hotel was lit with Lanterns, lovely romantic stroll. Towels were provided by the hotel at the beach, service was top notch.

Dont stay in any other hotel in Phuket!!!!

Highly recommended!!

Room Tip: Get the Presidential/Penthouse Pool suite. You'll not regret it!
