“Nice, quiet hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013 via mobile

A hotel that faces the sea, quiet and relaxing. Room is spacious, bed comfortable. Nice place to stay if you looking for relaxing place away from city. Restaurant and eateries nearby, food quite good. However,it is located away from city and shops, not very convenient if you don't have any transport.

Stayed one night at this hotel ,which is about all I can bear of the place, as it is the lesser expensive option of the 2 in the area. Firstly, if you do not own your own vehicle then you are going to be completely stuck there without transport, no taxis in the vicinity and the only way to go anywhere was using the hotel taxi for which you paid an exhorbitant price. Also, they advertise WIFI when I enquired they wanted 800 bahts to connect for 24 hours.
We stayed in the older wing of the so called "resort" and the building had the feeling and look of abandonment. Everything was grey and dull....with one aged guard holding down the vacant check in counter. With a few grunts and pointing we were directed down the road a bit to the "new" wing of the hotel and finally managed to check in, and then quickly shuffled back down to the old building to our rooms.
The interior was dull and grey....and the ancient air conditioners in the rooms seemed surely to have not been serviced since the late 70's as they barely worked at all, if not to just blow a bit of dust out of the vent every now and then.
The management of this hotel are definitely taking advantage of the fact that you have to use the hotel services if you have business in the area, and i can't imagine why anyone would willingly take a holiday break at this place. There are far more attractive resorts and beaches elsewhere in Thailand as the small beach is OK but nothing special and the water is EXTREMELY polluted anyways.
Avoid this hotel unless you have absolutely no choice to visit the area on business.

Room Tip: Book the New wing if you have to stay in the area and have no other choice....

Having read reviews about the old wing, the new wing, rats etc, I was somewhat skeptical but this being the hotel where parents of a kids school function were staying we had little choice.
There ARE rats in the room ceilings of the old wing. Upon hearing this I insisted to move to the new wing where they wanted to charge extra. After some threats concerning the Thai health authorities, I was moved FOC.
Internet access in the old wing is more than double the price of that in the new wing. When I questioned this there was zero logical answer. Then again, for the four nights that I was there, there was no Internet access in the entire hotel anyway.
They ran out of Singha beer & had to start using the cans out of mini bars. There were only 6 of us drinking!!!!
Whilst my Thai is non existent, there was extremely limited English spoken by the majority of the staff.
The decking area near the pool is very nice but suffers turbulence when anyone walks past as it is built some 10 feet off the ground & obviously is not anchored well enough.
The best thing is the pool. Zero else.
The only thing missing is Basil & The Major asking for his papers, but even that would be an issue as there were zero English papers anyway.

Stopped in here for work and didn't really have a choice on hotels. I would not stay in this particular place again. The rooms looked amazing but the beds were not that great and there were minor touches that had been over looked. The hotel is right on the beach, however, the beach in this area isn't very nice and the closest city in 30 minutes away. Most of our group, including myself didn't spend too much time on the beach here, so that left us with the pool area. The pool was a bit green and the surrounding deck area bounced when people walked on it, very disturbing if you are trying to relax by the pool. Construction was on-going during my stay, also disturbing. Food and services at the hotel were not super cheap, on par with US hotel prices (expensive for Thailand!) The bright spot were the employees; they were really helpful and gracious!

Room Tip: Pick a higher up room for good sunset/sunrises.

Last stayed here in 2005 & now there's a second building which is still undergoing building work. Reception has moved from the old building to the new building & is not as good. Receptionist's command of English is poor. I was particularly annoyed that having booked this in advance I was asked to pay up front for bed & breakfast when I arrived; this gives the impression that they do not trust Westerners. Last time I stayed here they took an impression of my credit card & I settled up on departure. Had to then pay for meals each night with cash. There's no hotel information book in the room so I had no idea what services the hotel offered or meal times etc. Good points: room comfortable, free wifi, free bottled water, good food.
Bad points: reception, lack of good English, lack of trust

The hotel provides decent accommodations and great views. The breakfast is pretty good and the open air breakfast lounge is nice. The Wifi was ridiculously expensive ($15-$20 per night) for such a small hotel (albeit I assume that getting internet there is difficult). Also, this hotel is in the middle of nowhere - you'll have to take a decent cab ride (i.e. 15-20 min.) to get anywhere notable (e.g. Ban Chang or Samnak Thon).

Pros:
- Beautiful views, esp. at sunset
- Good breakfast
- Inexpensive

Cons:
- Super humid (somewhat a given on the coast of Thailand)
- Internet access is super expensive for remote Thailand
- Middle of nowhere

I stayed here for 12 nights and have done so previously. This time the owners have "cut back"

Massage...great but had to go find staff
Rooms need refurbishment, good standard but showing signs of age
Air con............two setting for temprature, high or low, thermostat broken.

I gave this an average rating, 12 months ago I would have given an excellent

Room Tip: Nice hotel if you wisha quiet break
