“Sixth Time...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

Love love love this place. Great for couples, families with kids... Beautiful surroundings, can be as quiet as you want it to be! The property occasionally gets a bit run-down and to be honest the food isn't that great, but the staff are amazingly helpful and it is right on the beach with its own pool as well... Away from the hustle and bustle and with the jungle right beside you, you can stay there to relax or take the daily Song Theow (Pick-up with seats) trips into Naiharn beach - close to many restaurants and shops. We were greeted this time with a complimentary upgrade to the beachfront villas, presumably because we have been so many times, and the view was just stunning... slept to the sounds of the sea, and made hot coffee in our rooms in the morning to watch the sunrise... I'd love to still be there right now!!!

Room Tip: The front rooms are great - beachfront - there are new tours from China going through nearly daily i...

I left another resort just around the corner from here, after the people we were traveling with discovered this hotel. I only wish we found this resort sooner. We stayed in one of the waterfront rooms. It was stunning, the view, the location, the amenities, the bed, the bathroom......everything about this room was perfect.

The only fault with this resort is the food. Eat elsewhere.

If you are going through reviews of this place on Tripadvisor, you may have a doubt as I had if it is a right place to stay or not as there are many extremely negative comments VS quite positive comments. Finally, I decided to spend my holidays with family here.

In general, I would say that we had a good experience staying at Baan Krating.
With the price paid, I should not have any complaints about it as I cannot find a calm place for getting away like this in Phuket at about Thb 1,600 / room / night for a standard room. I can assure you about as I have been living and working in tourism businesses in Phuket over 10 years. I gave me a feeling on how Phuket looked like back 15 - 20 years ago where it was a once calm and beauty place not busy like today.

Even though it was a good stay and very worth for money but I do have some suggestions at the end of this review for the resort can look at and take in to account in improving guests' experiences on top of great natural resources you have in the resort.

The resort is located around Nai Harn Beach where you have to drive pass Nai Harn beach, going through under Royal Phuket Yacht Club Resort (do not stop when you ar facing this resort, just keep going through) and drive along the narrow road till the end of the way you will find the resort located and nestled by the jungle and mountains with facing the Andaman sea with little (almost private beach) laying down the resort. It is far but worth driving.

Looking at the resort in general, I can say that all photos on their website were taken long long time a go. The resort conditions look more quite tired comparing to those on the website. It is not fake but not up to date I would say. So, I took many ok photos to give you a sense of reality there. I do not think they need a renovation but daily detail-oriented cleaning is a must required.

The staff is friendly but they require to have more professional service training as specially for F&B service staff. So, up to this point if you are really a traveler who place important having professional service in a stayed resort. You might be very not appreciated staying here. However, if you are easy going person, it would be ok staying here.

The location of the resort is very excellent. It is very calm and relax with having jungles around and most importantly a small but very quite beach down the resort. I do not like go swimming in the sea but have not done it for many many years. But the first thing I did after check was that jumping into the sea and laying down on the beach there. I don't know but it is a wow factor to me. The beach is not white sandy and there are rocks pop up when low tide. So, please be careful for that. By the beach, there are some sun beds with a beach cabana that belong to the resort.

There are not that many but remember there is no resort that can provide enough sun beds for all guests. So, it is the thing that you have to deal with it.

There is no safety box in a room, so keep your valuable belonging with you all the time.
Just to be on the safe side.

For breakfast, I expect that a cook could be able to make it more tasty than that.
It was not delicious at all. I am quite ok with its variety but if they could focus on how it is cooked and seasoned like the dinner I ordered. It tasted quite good. So, what happened to a breakfast.

To sum up, if you are an very easy going person with love of staying in a limited service place but with calm and beauty nature. This resort is highly recommended, it is worth for your money and time.

P/S - Resort new telephone no. has been changed to +66 76 510 927. The old one displayed on the website does not work anymore.

This hotel is in a fantastic location. Upgrade to the newer rooms they are definitely well worth it, the bungalows are a bit worn. Beware of the oodles of Chinese tourists that come in nightly, they come for a one night stop over and are very noisymand inconsiderate of others in the hotel. Staff could do with a few tips on customer service. The guy who tends to the pool is lovely and friendly as is the head chef but the rest of the staff don't even bother to say hello. The breakfast really could do with a makeover, it is the same every day, it is poor with little variety. If you want somewhere with a great view, quiet during the day then this is for you.

This is the unseen place that I have the first experience in second time in Phuket, the location seem very far from airport if refer from the map it's on the top-north of the map, or near Promthep Cape. I did take a taxi around 1,500 THB sharing with my friends, the first sight and I seen after drive pass the naiharn beach to small and feel dangerous road like one and half driving way on the edge of rock moutain, the View make me forget the difficult travelling, because it's very very strange view that I have seen for Phuket , It's calm, private and most beautiful. The resort is in the forest like a wood-house, the room is ok for me, staffs are warm and friendly anytime the offer a helps. Overall is good for lover who needs the private place for relax.

Room Tip: The best month is April.

Baan Krating provides that unusual mix of jungle, beach and comfort all at a reasonable price. The cabins vary greatly in terms of location and facilities but they are all sound, private, safe and comfortable. Of course getting one close to the water gives the nicest experience but if you are prepared to walk down the various pathways through the gardens to the the little beach then you could be in for a real bargain. The snorkelling ten metres off shore is exotic. The restaurant is excellent value and produces tasty meals and there is a tuk tuk service to Nai Harn beach 4X daily. Of course there are down sides, those cicadas are very noisy, if you don't have your own transport you can feel a little trapped and the breakfast is passable at best. However it is a fun place to spend a few days and a great place to chill out and do not much at all.

Room Tip: Decide carefully how much being close to the water means to you and pay accordingly.

This place is not easy to find but is worth it when you do!
Was there 4 nights and loved the peace and quiet, great for meditating.
Spent a lot of time at the nearby temple working alongside the monks in return for meditation lessons.
Very friendly staff and great pool.

Room Tip: Ocean view a must
