“Amazing food, good prices, and friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2014

I've been going to this restaurant for a year and a half for mediterranean food, and I have to say that I've never been disappointed. The falafel is absolutely delicious, as is the hummus and anything else you order. The owner always greets me warmly and makes sure that I've enjoyed my meal. They have menus in English and Russian as well. I can promise that you won't be disappointed. Also, you'll discover that you love the hummus so much you need to buy a kilo of it to take home (300 Baht).

“Great mediterranian and Thai food at reasonable prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014

I've been going to this restaurant for over 10 years and always delighted with the wonderful food especially the chicken shwarma which is mouthwatering. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and if youre lucky you will see some cool concert video while you eat. The "poster gallery" on the way to the toilet is a must see even if you dont need to pee.... A "must vist" when in Phuket. Highly recommended

“The best MUSSAKA ever ate”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

Living not far away from the restaurant and eat at home but when I want to spoiled myself I'm going to eat MUSSAKA at the FAMILY restaurant. It's a huge dish contain the best MUSSAKA ever ate. With one home made Pita and Israeli salad which include almost cannot finish. If I'm lucky Ovadia the owner say welcome and a nice conversation is on the way.
Aside of this I always check if have something new at the corridor of the FAME AND SHAME which full of fascinating funny and wise sentences. Warm recommended if you like to eat good and with reasonable price.

“Nice shawarma”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2014

Happened to stop at this restaurant not knowing what to expect. Their menu has so many dishes (which is usually not a good sign) and I opted for a nice shawarma take away, 110 THB, yummy, will go again to have proper dinner.

“Great Food, Funny Atmosphere, Crazy Owner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2014

I go to Family Restaurant for their great, authentic falafels - very hard to find in Asia, But every dish on the menu is great - why eat in a hotel restaurant (usually below par because hotels are all about profit margins) when you can eat great food in a fun setting. The tables might be formica but the signs and slogans around the restaurant are fun and thought-provoking (while hotel restaurants are boring).

You can also get authentic Turkish coffee on an island where even top hotels often serve instant.

One of the best experiences is a trip to the Loo as you pass by many thought provoking and/or humorous slogans.

And the video/stereo system is great - the owner, Ovidia the Crazy, is an old time Rock 'N Roll fanatic and he has a selection of the finest rock concerts to every find a DVD.

Ovidia himself comes out and mixes with the guests. He's a crazy guy but highly intelligent. (Dangerous combination!)

The place is easy to miss but right next to Tesco Lotus south of Chalong Circle about 1.5K on the Bay side. It isn't elegant, but why pay for expensive but bad hotel food when you can eat great food on a budget while dancing around the tables with Rock 'n Roll legends on the video!
