“HIGHLY Recommended. GREAT GREAT GREAT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2012

What a great place this resort is. Actually this is the second time we have been here. We loved it so much 2 years ago when the resort was still new, that we had no question where to stay when we were booking the hotel.

We spent 10 days(feb/mar) in this resort, staff where fantastic, the room is great.
The breakfast is really good, the executive chef was always there greeting the guests with a big smile. A feedback to the waiters is that they need to smile more when talking to the guests but they were very good.

There was a staff that was always around the pool. She was also very good. Always smiling and speaking with the guests to make sure that we were ok.

We only had dinner at the resort once. We were a bit disappointed this time with the food. 2 years ago when we where here, we had dinner at the resort a few times but this time we thought it was a bit of a let down.

The Sunday entertainment was really poor. There is a guy that goes there every Sundays to sing at the bar and have to say he really sucks. He sings out of tune. Please do change the singer I am sure you can find better singers.

I would advise to get a car while there. There are fantastic places to go for dinner around Phuket. We had a fab meal Rawai which is close to the resort and also in Patong and Kata.

Overall, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND resort. If you are looking to have a relaxing time Serenity Resort & Residences is the place to stay.

Thanks very much for your nice review. Let me talk to our Chef and service staff regarding your suggestions in order to sort this out. We have discussed the Sunday evening entertainment at East 88 Beach Lounge with our team and decided to change the band as of this coming Sunday! Hope to see you again! Best regards, Urs-General Manager

My husband and I stayed at the serenity end of Feb for 10 nights. We originally booked the standard room, but with no view and no bath tub we decided to up grade. The front desk staff were fantastic. After advising us they were fully booked that night they offered us a pool villa
from the next day. Our first night was perfectly comfortable in the standard room, but the pool villa was something else - perfect views across the turqoise waters, a beautiful private pool, the largest bedroom ever with the most comfortable bed. If you can force your self up for Sun rise, you will see the most wonderus sight, NEVER to be forgotten.
The breakfast had plenty of choice, and delicious. The waiting staff were very efficient and helpful, with a friendly "good morning" every day.
We ate a few times in the restaurant in the evenings again a real treat, artistically presented and sooooo Mmmmmmm.
We didn't spend much time at the pool as we were out and about, but every morning it was spotless, with lovely fluffy beach towels waiting.

My over all impression was of a resort that was well run, very clean and friendly. well done!!

P.S we have booked again for 4 weeks in July - August. can't wait. ;-)

Had been looking for a room in Phuket with private pool or jacuzzi to end our Thailand trip and was thrilled to find this gem at a reasonable price, compared with most others that I saw with similar facilities. We booked an H20 suite and were not disappointed! Contrary to other reviews we found the staff helpful, able to speak english and always smiling. Check in was smooth and we were shown our room, given info regarding transport to patong, beach etc and even shown which bottles of water were complimentary in the fridge. The suite was beautifully appointed and spotless. We had an infinity pool on the roof terrace with amazing views at all times of the day and night (had a wonderful moonlit dip!). Breakfast had the usual assortment of eggs, pastries, fruits etc but was not extraordinary. However, we loved sitting in the restaurant area, watching people in kayaks, kite surfing or even trying to have a dip in the sea. The open air restaurant had a cool ambience which would have been spoilt if it had been an enclosed space with AC. As others have said, you don't come here for the beach, but you certainly get sea views to the max.
We decided to try the spa treatments as the spa down the road was closed. Although it was around 3 times the price, (i think we had a special offer for 2 hours costing around £50 each, which is still a bargain compared to the UK), there is a reason it costs more! Although we enjoyed the small massage parlours dotted everywhere in Thailand, this was amazing. The therapists were considerate and wonderful masseuses. The rooms were spotless and smelled great. We had our treatments in a couples room which was great but you couldnt hear a peep from either of us as we were so zenned out! It was so wonderful that we booked more treatments 48 hours later! Am looking forward to mine later today (its our last day!)
We have found the food in the restaurant to be very tasty and artfully presented. We have ordered a private dinner tonight, a seafood BBQ which we will have on our own terrace with our own private butler, really looking forward to that too!

Woud recommend John Greys Hongs by Starlight tour. It is more 'eco friendly', serves some pretty good food and most importantly cares about the preservation of the national park of Phang na Bay. We were horrifed to see other tourists from different companies wading through the lagoons and climbing on the mangrove trees! Not to mention squawking and making so much noise that any natural wildlife would run a mile! The other benefit of this tour is that you get to see some Hongs (lagoons) after the hordes of tourists have gone home. So peace and tranquillity are restored. We also made our own Kratongs (floral offerings with candles and incense sticks) which you set afloat after dark and make a wish. We didnt get to explore a Hong by night due to the tides but it was fantastic anyway, floating about in our kayaks, with our guide, with only the ligt from our kratongs.

Oh and dont forget to try the coffee house, HoeKhoelee coffee for great iced mochas and iced teas!

Cant wait to return one day to this little oasis in Phuket, thanks Serenity for a memorable and relaxing trip!

Room Tip: Pick a suite with a terrace at least, the views are amazing.

Me and my wife stayed here for 4 days last month . The front office staff at this resort are useless in all aspects.
First thing as soon as we arrived, they asked me for my credit card number, I was told this was only for security and i would not be charged. After two days when i was checking my credit card online ..i came to know they had blocked 6000 bhat without even informing me !!!!!
When i confronted them ,they said the amount is blocked they would revert the transaction when i checkout . It took then 10 days to unblock the amount . this was after requesting then to unblock the amount during the checkout .
I got my money back after 10 days!!!! not before making 2-3 phone calls and writing a mail to them

when we checked-in the lady from the front desk had escorted us to our room. She opened the fridge and told us 4 bottles of drinking water will be available every day free of cost,
We clearly remember she had pointed at the evian bottles which were in the middle row.

Later we were charged 20$ for drinking water. I was told evian water is charged. the "free" water was in the bottom rack with the serenity stickers..but what the lady had shown us was clearly Evian water.

Laundry and house keeping :

They knock 3-4 times and if you do not open the door. if you have forgotten to lock the door , they will barge in !!!!!

my two cents on this one:
Please do not forget to lock the doors ..these guys can barge in any time

The hotel organizes trips to Coral islands every now and then...they did not even ask us if we would be interested. We later saw the schedule at the reception.

If you don't mind the hot sun It is best to see nearby places including the Nari han beach by renting a bike for 150bhat a day. Do not depend on the taxi -service outside the hotel, they are very expensive.

Thank you very much for your review. Kindly allow us to clarify some of your comments via this response:
Like many other hotels, we do verify check credit cards of guests upon check-in and reserve an appropriate amount of money on-line, in order to ensure that your credit card payment will be done promptly and swiftly without delay upon departure. We did not charge any money on your card until check-out. We merely checked if your card was valid and good for the expected amount to be paid, wich it was. There was no need to unblock the reserved amount via phone. This is done automatically once your card is charged upon check-out.

Serenity drinking water is free of charge in all rooms. Imported Evian water is for sale. The bottles are standing close to each other in the fridge, but it clearly mentions "free" for Serenity water on the minibar price list and it also cleary mentions the price of one Evian water on the same minibar price list.

Our staff will knock on guest room doors 3 to 4 times and if there is no answer, they will open the door, call out for the guest one more time before entering and if there is still no answer they will enter to clean the room, deliver your laundry or anything else that needs to be done. To avoid being disturbed, all you need to do is display the Do Not Disturb sign outside your door and none of our team members will knock on your door nor enter your room. This is common practice around the world in hotels and resorts.

The free trips to Coral Island are advertised on a large poster in the lobby and another large poster by the pool. They are also displayed in the information folder in each guest room. The trip is free (complimentary) and we leave it up to guests if they wish to join this free trip or not. We do, however, not actively or verbally promote well advertised free and complimentary services in the resort.

We would like to point out that the free boat trips to Coral Island have been halted as of 1 March due to lack of interest from our guests.

Scooter rental is cheap in Phuket but driving motorbikes is also relatively dangerous. It is up to each individual to decide whether to drive a bike and to potentially risk his/her health or to spend USD 10 on a taxi to a nearby destination.

We trust that this clarifies the issues and remain, Sincerely, Urs-General Manager

Great location, easy and quick beach visits such as Nai Harn, Kata, Karon, Patong and even Kamala. Near Phuket Town, Chalong Bay. Quiet surrounding at Rawai Beach, Staff attitude & friendliness were excellent as the daily Breakfast Buffet containing Asian & Western Food was. I have booked the Grand Suite for 5 nights. And I had no regrets of doing so but was sad to leave this resort when my few-days-holiday-trip was over. I will certainly return to this resort where I have stayed for the first time. I can recommend this unique resort to all kind of guests looking for quality, tranquility, high level hospitality and relaxing days off work.

Room Tip: I have booked the Grand Suite. But I believe all other Suites and Rooms are of the same standard as...

My husband and I stayed at the serenity for 4 days then left for two and returned for one. At all times we found the check in staff and management staff excellent. We where upgraded as part of our I Prefer membership to two different but gorgeous two bedroom suites. Both in the front building and both had great views and wonderful balconies. The hotel package offered a free massage which was excellent and we where given a very nice and much appreciated bottle of wine on arrival. The views here are stunning. One night we where able to watch a thunderstorm roll in over Chalong bay... breath taking. The hotel sits at the edge of the water and breakfast was one of my favorite times looking out over the ocean. The beach is simple and disappears at high tide. It is essentially a shallow mud flat so if you want a swimming beach you must go to nearby Nai Harn Beach. The hotel shuttle can take you. This is a small beach with lots of beach chairs, massage stalls and food stalls. The swimming in nice. The pool is quite beautiful but we rarely used if. People do grab the chairs by putting stuff on them and there where never any free by early morning even though there was no one in them. The loungers on the bar and restaurant roofs where occasionally free but we preferred our own balcony. If you want to relax in a nice residential area this hotel is ideal. There is a local market in the eve to the left of the hotel and across the road. We got food there once and once at the stalls in front of the 7 11 across the road. Both where very yummy, unbelievably cheap and a bit of an adventure. You can get laundry done across the road very little as well. The road is large but easy to cross just use common sense. We walked in the morning and evenings up the beach and back along the road. The neighbors where friendly and we felt safe. We came to this hotel to kite surf as this is the main area to do so this time of year. Unfortunately there was no wind.
1.) Taxis: are an issue the drivers are unfriendly and charge a ridiculous amount. We went with hotel transport which was slightly more expensive but the driver was excellent, friendly, spoke english and was reliable in picking us up. I hope the Phuket authorities can fix this as it did limit our ability to get around.
2.) We met one of the cats who hangs around the hotel. She was sweet and lovely to pet. It is nice when a small hotel like this has a few cats around and I do not understand what others are complaining about. The cats where clean and friendly but not in any way intrusive. I hope management doesn't kick them out as they are part of the community/boutique feel of the hotel.
3.) We did met two unhappy groups of guests but our stay was excellent. I suggest to management that if is better to refund someone's outstanding nights then have them remain and speak down the hotel.

Overall the grounds are beautiful, staff very good, upgraded rooms and suites are stunning and the spa was very nice. We would return to this hotel and recommend it to others looking for beautiful surroundings and a quiet neighborhood.

Room Tip: All rooms in the fist building near the water have nice views. The suites are a significant upgrade...

Thank you very much for your nice and detailed review. We were aware of the number of sunbeds around the pool and roof top and have since added more of them. We are also enforcing the "no-reservation rule" for sunbeds more strictly now. The authorities in Phuket have been approached via many different organizations, resorts and consulates to deal with the taxi issue. We also hope that this can be resolved soon. Sincerely, Urs-General Manager

We have just returned from Serenity - Feb 12 - 18, 2012. I booked the pool residence which was perfect for myself and 2 girlfriends. The private pool and deck hosted our coffees in the morning and nightcaps in the evenings. It was great also for a quick dip in between tours etc to then just go straight up to have a shower. The beds were comfortable and amenities very good. They are aware of the water so the bottled water provided by them in our fridge daily is free. We did not use the rooftop except for some photos but the view was beautiful. The resort staff from when we arrived to the resaurant staff, bar staff & the spa staff was nothing but exceptional. They all could not do enough for us. They remembered our coffee orders every morning and offered ideas for our cocktails on our way to go out for the night. They all had a wonderful sense of humour. The resort is not huge but that is what is so beautiful about it - you are not fighting for a seat for the restaurant whether it be for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is about 1/2 hour drive to Patong but the hotel cars cost about $24 and you travel in luxury with air conditioning and the drivers are all so nice with their english being quite good.
If you want to just lay on a crystal beach this is about 5 mins down the road not really at the resort - but we were not looking for that kind of holiday.
I wish I could rate this resort & its staff even higher because they deserve it - we are already planning next year and we will definately be staying at Serenity.

Room Tip: Spend that little extra for the pool residence it is definately worth it!
